AC2 Patch
Wednesday, January 15th, 2003 - 9:17pm
I know we've got a few guys playing AC2 out there. I haven't had a chance to try out the new patch (probably won't be able to tonight). What's the news? Any good?
I felt -- I feel -- that Shawn, Rob and Julian were making out with the game, and as their friend I felt it was important to point out that they were making out with an ugly chick. - Cory Banks, keeping it real

I would like to know how flexible and open the new dye skills are? The design decision to make customization so restrictive was one of my major issues with AC2 (that and vaults not being unique group instances)... I''m hoping this patch will bring enough to the table to get my interest to come back.
Currently I hear the patch servers are jammed and folks are having trouble getting it down loaded.

Had no problem getting the patch, but allegiance chat no longer shows up for me at all. The new dye system is completely open, you just have to find the appropriate plant to dye your armor. and it is EXPENSIVE. 10k for black. granted, that will be the most popular color, but...
apparantly you can unlock the ability to craft potions now as well.
should be interesting once allegiance chat is back up.

I have never understood this apoplectic fear that most MMP developers treat even the concept of just letting people look unique. Sure once upon a time it was largely a technical issue, but that time has long gone (at least from an object coloring perspective), yet game after game insists on forcing everyone into ridiculous cookie cutter molds from the start and then insult to injury, not letting you look unique during the course of the game. It''s like they have some burring fear that somehow they will loose control of the world economy if somebody can actually easily change their shirt color clothing to look the way they want. It''s just nuts and little sad IMO. AO did an ""ok"" job of starting to head away from that, and a couple other games that never came to market made a big deal about that being something they would address. Yet here we are with s supposable second generation engine that still won''t let you look more then 2% different then anyone else of the same level and class, and then what do they do? Try and make a huge money sink for even the topical color changes (a game that is not exactly flush with gold in the economy anyway).

Wow. This thread is old and stuff. I feel young again.
Oh and no. I am not playing this game. I just wanted to see how far the threads go back in time.

I didn't realize Assassin's Creed 2 was patched.

Is there a point when a necro becomes so old that it is no longer a necro?

Asheron Call 2 ... I saw the title and found it unusual
. I thought Ubi removed the DRM or something
. I guess for that to happen you have to build a time machine and change history before the game we now call AC2 existed .
an inspiring quote to fill this spot:

LOL - I thought you guys were talking about Assassin's Creed 2 as well before I took a look at the OP.
This act of necromancy is worthy of the witch doctor's "wall of zombies" in Diablo 3.

Asheron's Call is still up and running, I believe, but AC2 is dead and buried. It's a shame, but they just decided to make so many changes that the game came out very uneven and not nearly as much fun to play, despite the start they had with the original game. It almost killed Turbine, as I recall.
