I am compelled to pick this up so I thought I'd check and see if any GWJers are either still active in GW or are going to start a new character in the factions world.

Yes, there are several GWJers active in GW, see the few GW threads.

Cool, its good to see a few folks are still playing. About a weeks ago I fired up the original GW in anticipation of Factions and I've been having a great time. It seems I just needed to hire some henchmen to keep from getting frustrated but it would be great to hook up with some real folks both in the original campaign and the Factions campaign.
I have a lvl 12 Warrior/Necromancer (Trashi Dawa) who's still stuck around Ascalon and I started an assassin (Tashi Dawa) when the servers when live last night.
I'll add you guys to my friends list. Is anyone using Team Speak for GW these days?

I just bought online - seems cool, but there's a problem with my account (didnt sync up with my main account) so no new character account yet. I did play assassin through level 5 last night. TOTAL blast.

Level 16 A/Mo and counting. Still on the island. Finding this much more compelling (story and RPG wise) than Prophecies.

When I first joined it was pretty late in the game's life so Prophecies felt like such a mishmash of people running and spoilering etc., that I really felt like I was just doing disconnected quests and I just wasn't interested in the story. When I started Factions I was one of the first (I even got a Tengu hat!), so everything felt new to me. I was exploring uncharted territory. Sure I wasn't THE first, but there weren't people telling me where I needed to go and how much I needed to pay them for them to get me there. I felt a lot more invested in the story. Not to mention the game was VERY good to me with my first drops (1 Monstrous Eye and 1 perfect gold staff).

Interesting conversations going on on the gwonline.net boards about the "assassin glut" in factions. While they are definately correct, what I've discovered is that the Assassin/Monk combo is the most versatile character I've ever played in any MMORPG. Last night, I played as both heavy damage killer and mending/healing monk and was very succesful in both rolls. In particular, I did a 6 player mission where EVERY ONE of us had A as our main class, and communicating well, we completely kicked ass.
Anyway, would be fun to actually manage to hook up at some point. Esp with teamspeak. I may have to join a guild.

Having bought factions and joined a new more active guild, I've been playing more lately. These are my chars: Roval Renji (W/Mo), Lila Zera (Mo/Me) and Fenrir Lanth (E/Mo)

There's an Assassin glut because it's something new *shrug*. To be expected. I play an Assassin/Warrior but to be honest it's not really working out all that well. I'll probably switch to Assassin/Ranger when I make it to Sergei's or whoever the hell he is.

I was considering getting back into guildwars when factions came out. Lack of funding has made me put it off. Tomorrow is pay day, so we wil see.
