I didn't feel like derailing anyone else's thread so I thought I'd just create this one that the rest of you can safely ignore and let fall off the front page, into the ether, and out of your minds. At least I will have said my peace.
As a member of no significant standing and a generally curmudgeonly attitude, I'm personally tired of reading random references to Lobster's mom in just about every thread I peruse. Perhaps I don't travel in the right circles and this "inside joke" would be funnier if I did but in the spirit of the moderators' recent call for more maturity (I'm too lazy to link, you know what I'm talking about) on the website can we put the mom jokes to rest? I know she's tired. 
Edit: Lest someone misunderstand my intent, the first 99% of my post was serious. I tried to end on a lighter note so as to not be a complete grump about it. Of course, this edit probably just ruined that but I figured that making my point was more important.

Its a bit long in the tooth (the joke anyway) and should likely be left in the BF2 posts where it originated.

I have neither partaken in Lobster's Mom jokes (nor Lobster's Mom - there, I have now invalidated my first statement) nor do I have any clue as to the origin of the inside joke.
All I do know is that this wasn't what I expected when I saw the title of this thread.

Same here. I've also stayed away from using Lobster's mom as a punchline (I'm just not on the inside of this joke), but I'll admit that those little surprises made me laugh on more than one occasion.
