You speak the truth good sir. A Red Bull and vodka or rum and Coke will solve the shortsightedness issue.

Ah but these scientists have not test the effects of sugar on me. The amount of sugar in one can of Red Bull - upwards of 50 grams - definitely wakes me up. A single shot of vodka doesn't detract from that in the least.

That said, I don't drink the stuff. Not a fan of the taste. That and I don't need the artificial boost, my energy level is typically very high unless I've put in a 60+ hour work week over the course of 5 weekdays, like yesterady. One more production launch today and then I can kick back and relax this weekend. And by relax I mean do yardwork.

I often forget that sarcasm - especially with my fairly dry sense of humor - doesn't translate well in written form. I'm not a huge fan of yardwork, but it had to be done today. There's rain on the way and come next weekend, not only would I be out of town, but I'd be wading through the grass if I let another rain or two hit it before mowing

That in conjunction with a morning launch today means not much relaxation 'til tonight. And that means that the previous alcohol discusion just might come into play

And to bring the thread back on topic, this was definitely one of the funniest threads I've ever read. Deva's original post along with the pictures that followed had me nearly in tears from laughter.

Origin

The phrase "O RLY?" was first popularised on Internet forums in mid-2003 as one of many phrases that arose during a Something Awful Forums fad of compressing words by removing unnecessary letters. The earliest publicly viewable[1] archives of its use date from somewhat later, but older uses exist in the registration-only complete forum archives. Something Awful users created the first image macros using the phrase, but these did not include (registration required)[2] the now ubiquitous Snowy Owl image.

The owl image macro comes from 4chan, where for a short while, the word "repost" was wordfiltered to "owl"[3]. The photo was taken by nature photographer John White, and was submitted by him to the Animal Pictures Archive on February 17, 2001.[1]. The image originated on the gaming and chat boards at IGN and was brought to the random board, /b/, at 4chan by an anonymous poster. There, the already popular "O RLY?" phrase was photoshopped in, the owl's perfectly captured facial expression complementing and conveying the meaning of the phrase.

The owl image macro quickly became popular on 4chan, and then spread to many other community websites such as Fark and YTMND, spawning many more image macros involving owls. The frequent posting of the O RLY? owl has annoyed some webmasters to the point that the posting of it on some message boards will result in a user ban.

Lots of the wikipedia entry is links, too, but I'm too lazy to hook that all up.
