Has anyone found a direct link version of this? I deleted the BlizzardDownloader.exe file, and now Blizzard is saying they NEED it to install the patch.

Needless to say, I'm hoping I don't have to completely reinstall the game and patch from scratch.

Yeah no kidding. I thought something was off from seeing so many rogues die in instances since 1.10. Then I went back to leveling my rogue to 60 the other day. Vanish failed three times I tried it. There is at least one 15 page thread on the rogue forums showing dozens of screenshots and several video caps of proof... but its still "we can't replicate it" except they do acknowledge the problem with channeled spells and say they've fixed it or something.

Well, I've seen 2 theories on the cause of the vanish problem, but there's been NO dev response on all the other problems, like stealth/MoD being hosed.

Oh. My. f*cking. God!

I am a pissed, pissed rogue. And if I have to have that stupid downloader installed, I'm done. I'm not letting them leach from my fiber connection to the tune of 2 gigs outbound traffic while I play. Not gonna happen.

So, now I'm getting disconnected every 3 minutes.
I deleted my /Interface, /WTF, and /WDB folders just like any support email would tell me to, and that's what the initial support email will tell me to do even when I tell them I already did that.
I deleted BackgroundDownloader.exe.
This happens on Duclama in IF and SW.
It happens on my Warrior in Teldrassil.
It happens on a new server with a new human warrior in the newbie area.

It's, apparently, not happening to anyone else in the guild, including Peec, so it's not the ISP.

I saw a post on the official forums of someone else it's happening to, but I can't f'ing log in to the forums to try to either get help or work with that other guy to see what we have in common, because the "Login server down".

I've only had a problem with the downloader since 1.10 but after a few times of telling it to not run it turned off and stopped running every time I turned on wow. I've not had the time or bravery to do anything but patch tonight.

As for vanish... http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-rogue&t=1045476&p=1...

From Dysc:

"I had mentioned late last week in a thread on the General forum that this is an issue we have seen reported and have continued to test, I requested additional information from players and steps to help reproduce the issue consistently.

After additional testing we have been able to faithfully reproduce the issue and we are currently investigating it further. This issue is now slated to be fixed in an upcoming patch.

I do appreciate the help and reports we have received here, the Bug Report forum, and in my thread from the General forum."

duckilama, make sure your network driver isn't one that came default with Windows 2000/XP (dated anywhere from 1999 to 2001). Those drivers are old, often buggy, and WoW updates frequently break them.

Get the newest driver for your network card, try again.

It seems to have been 1 of 4 things. I changed 3 at once, but I can test later.
1) Forced 100Mbps Full Duplex
2) Disabled Turn Off to Save Power
3) Turned off C-Media(onboard sound) 3d sound tray applet
4) Blizzard may have fixed something

Probably not 4, but shouldn't be 1-3 either: everything was working hunky dory right up until the patch, a mini-patch at that. Yes, I'm a developer, I know odd stuff can happen when you change seemingly unrelated code, but I'm at a loss as to how this little client patch would have broken based on the 3 variables on my end.

Whatever. Very frustrating, and I'm more than a little peeved that Blizzard's brainwashing has gotten to me/us enough that my first thought was "crap, better delete my Interface".

Edit:

Except that Peecaboo wasn't having any issues. That's one great thing about having two PCs on the same LAN playing the same game. It gives me more data when testing problems than most gamers.

Oh...but no. No touching the router. Touching the router is bad on a level like crossing the streams. No router touching. None! My router. Mine!

I say we take off and nuke the entire [router] from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Ding ding. I believe we've been through this before. Your sound acceleration in Control Panel should be set to Standard, too.

Oddly enough, I'm using my soundblaster, IIRC, not the onboard sound.
