I'm pretty sure I want the 360 version, but I'm just not sure.

I took the combination of my old PC being mauled by spyware and Oblivion's release date being pushed back to Spring, as a sign that maybe it was time for a new PC. So PC for me.

Edit: Certis, I was going to PM you, but I'll just ask here. When do you receive your evaluation copy of Oblivion? Along with the rest of us peons, or have you been secretly playing it all weekend? Say it ain't so.

Unless your website ends with GN.com Spot.com or something of that ilk, you won't find many early review copies in these parts. We're near big enough to swing it, but we're not really willing to jump through the PR hoops to make it happen. I might see a review copy tomorrow, but by then plenty of people will be buying it too

Review copies go in waves. We'd be second wave which is usually finished boxed versions, major sites get the gold and development copies. Usually.

I'll be grabbing the 360 version because there's no way this is going to run satisfactorily on my pc without an overhaul.

PC version for me (CE if I can find a copy as a walk-in customer) partly for the mods, partly as I don't own a 360. Also, at some point in the future my PC will be way more powerful than a 360 and it will look that much better.

Since my hunt for a 360 Premium pack went unfulfilled I'll be rocking the PC version until April, at which point I have been assured the next wave of hardware will be released. Once I own the console I'll revisit the issue, but the plan is to own both. PC for the mods, XBox to rock out on my 90 inch High Def screen.

Politely rude. Briskly vague. Firmly uninformative.

360 version for me. And with all the talk about downloadable content for Oblivion, I would not be surprised in the slightest if it turns out that the best user-made mods get released for download on the 360. It's one of those things MS hinted as before the 360 launch, and the Bethesda interview at Boomtown definitely gave me the vibe that Oblivion will be the first to do it.

360 for me, I'm not convinced my PC will handle it well enough, plus I want the couch-controller environment mod. I figure it'll be a year before user content becomes prolific and good enough to bother. By then my PC will be upgraded at least one step and I'll look at buying it for PC. Out-of-the-box though I think the 360 is the way to go.

PC as I still haven't justified an X360 purchase yet. I know I'll get one eventually, I just have to keep putting off the inevitable.

And on the PC I can do the user mods, which is great.

I don't care to spend the money to upgrade my PC, which would require a new video card and sound card at the very least. Of course, upgrading those would cause my sickness to kick in, and I'd have to snatch a large flat screen monitor to take the place of my piddly 17" flat screen.

Besides, I'd much rather play the game in 5.1 surround sound on a 92" FP screen in the comfort of my home theater.

Hopefully we do see some user mods released as downloadable content via XBL Marketplace. That would be great.

PC all the way. Don't have an XBox, probably won't get one, and besides, I'm not shelling out for a high res tv to make the graphics dance like water droplets on a supermodel's skin. Without that, it's still standard TV resolution, and PC's handily beat that.

Besides, mouse and WASD. Who needs more? Certainly not people with carpal tunnel tendencies.

360. But if you don't just skip over my posts in other threads, you may have already known that.

Here's to the the possibility of community created mods getting released over XBLM.

I really hope this is the case, but I doubt you'll be seeing anything but the official mods. There are a lot of legal issues surrounding releasing mods in an official capacity like that, even if you don't charge for it. It's the same reason Witch's Wake was the first and last user-made module posted by Bioware as "premium" content. For the rest they hired people and had a team in-house who did them.

Right this minute, my gut tells me we'll never see user mods on Xbox Live. It's also telling me I should eat some toast.

(betting you'll have to spend microsoft points to get extra content... they have to make those points good for SOMETHING. )

PC version for me... I'll have to turn the graphics waaaaaaaay down until I upgrade, but I'll deal with it. =)

I took off Tuesday.. so at least if it really isn't available anywhere today I get to spend tomorrow looking for it. In retrospect I probably should have taken Wednesday so I could spend a full day with the game and not hoofing it around town like a crack addict tryin' to find a fix.

If you're picking it up on the PC and have a(n) nVidia card, hardOCP is reporting that there will be optimized WHQL ForceWare drivers for Oblivion released on Wednesday, March 22nd (better late than never?):

Quote:
NVIDIA has has informed us they will be releasing a new driver on Wednesday March 22nd at NZone. This new version ForceWare 84.25 will contain specific performance enhances to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion being released Monday the 20th.

Our developer relations team worked closely with Bethesda to optimize game performance, which also included making some driver changes to fix/enhance performance in certain areas.

Our performance testing shows no two benchmark runs are identical in exterior scenes, due to Oblivion randomly placing grass and rocks, changing the amount of grass, and varying other aspects of the terrain.

We will most likely be adding this game to our video card gaming test suite. So if you are looking forward to this game as much as we are be sure to pick up this new driver when it is released.
