Man, I am all about mongering the rumors this week. It would be cool if it were true.

You think it could explain what the heck happened at the end of the first one?

BG&E was a pretty decent game. Not the OMG amazing fantastico experience that some were championing it to be, but it wasn't awful. I'd definitely pick up a sequel, but if it turns out to be false I won't be too heartbroken.

Oh, Joystiq...why must you tease us so with such rumors, ostensibly published on the websites of the French? Is it because you're a wicked, unfeeling temptress? Or because your story is surrounded by seventeen advertising links? I'll never understand your ways, Joystiq.

It'd be great news. BG&E was one decently planned marketing campaign away from being an untarnished triumph.

And if I haven't seen further, it's because those bloody giants blocked my sight.

BG&E was one of thoses games that was incredibly fun but mostly forgettable. If it had realized its full potential and not ended at what felt like one third of the way through the story, things might be different. However, it is for this very reason that the possibility of a sequel so inescapably exciting. That the potential that was there may some day me drawn out makes me very happy indeed.

I thought BG&E was great. A sequel would be sublime.

I think that a sequel would be completely self-defeating. I thought the first half of BG&E was absolutely fantastic, but that it lost steam (and novelty) halfway through. More photo-taking, more too-easy sneaking (Splinter Cell it ain't), and a sudden detour into strange and utterly implausible plot points.

I don't know that I would bother picking up more of the same.

And given the lackluster sales, I don't know why someone would fund a sequel. Cf. the "Psychonauts" thread.

I'd say the chances of it happening are fairly good. On top of being begged for it in every interview Ancel gives, he has also said that everyone in the France studio wanted to begin work on the sequel immediatly after King Kong was finished. Keep your fingers crossed.

Okay Beyond Good and Evil 2 is now confirmed according to VE3d. Check out the new screenshots!

Edit: on that note... I need to go finish this game, if only I can find it somewhere in my pile of shame...

To keep this fairly spoiler free, do you think that they will continue from the previous storyline directly as was initially planned or will there be a less, I don't know...loyal? take in the next installment. It has been a while since I've played the first one (and was immediately hoping for a sequel after I beat it), but that trailer would seem to be quite a bit of the expected story arc of the next installment. Thoughts?

I remember there being a big cliffhanger at the end of BG&E but the details are fuzzy since it's been so long since I played it...It involved the pig, didn't it? It's coming back to me now.

BTW, here's the HD trailer:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/34509.html

Pig totally sounds like Marcus Fenix (Gears).

Pey'j, back on Hillys, conceals that infection wound on his hand - the same thing that Double-H succumbed to and nearly died from earlier in the game. I think the implication is that the same thing that turned the Alpha sections into Domz is happening to Pey'j.

I don't like how they changed the art style and are making it more "gritty" and brown. I hope they don't "nextgen" it too much.

I never played the original so I steam'd it last week and started playing. I want to like it, but the controls are awful!

Are there any tips, tweaks or mods or anything that makes the game control better?

Never played it on PC, but the console controllers felt fine. Is there a controller you have that you could plug into your computer that would work with it?

As far as I'm aware, the PC version doesn't support controllers natively...

Oh yeah, that would seem to be unfortunate then, if you can try to get it on console, preferably for free from a friend. The atmosphere and story are enjoyable and depending on your tolerance of the controls I would strongly urge to to persevere.

That sucks. I was thinking about getting it on Steam and using my PS2-USB adaptor for a control pad.

I've been trying to get this game used, but I can't find it anywhere. Though, one time I did find a box for it in EB, but they didn't have the actual game disk.

As any console port, the controls suck. But you, eventually, get used to it. The story is good enough to carry you through until the final boss fight, where you'll probably chew off a piece of the keyboard off. I suggest you read walkthroughs when you get to the final boss fight. It's just not worth 3 years off of your life expectancy to try and figure it out on your own. Even then it's gonna be a serious pain to finish it off.

I thought the PC controls worked quite well...but then I do tend to be more tolerant of that stuff than most (*cough* Alone in the Dark reviews *cough*).

Would have been nice to have the option of using a gamepad though.
