Are they ever going to offer these retail? I hate the idea of expansion packs over the internet because of one reason: They will never go on sale. Why should they when they have a lock down on the distribution channel?
At least I was able to pick up BF1942 with all the expansion packs on the cheap a few years later, even though sercet weapons was crapilicious.

Damn. I just know this is absolutely correct. The downloader is just going to get crushed. The same guy that designed the SF Exp interface probably did the capacity planning for the downloader feature. It's not going to go well.

I didn't have an issue with the downloader when SF came out, though maybe that was because so many people bought the CD.

While that sounds awesome, when I consider the fact that it seems to take 3 hits from one tank to kill another more often than not, it sounds less awesome.
Unless of course we're on TS and one person in the tanks designates a single target at a time, and we're all engineers. Which would be hilarious.

I don't follow - would you prefer it take less shots? To me, more shots = more strategy and less twitch.

Think of the poor infantry. All you need to take out those tanks is 16 missiles....
We'd need at least one support for resupply.
Is it me, or do the RPG's hit harder that the standard game AT Missiles/Rockets?

They do hit harder. I can always take a humvee/hadji out in one shot with the RPG. With a AT or even a tank round, most of the time it takes two rounds to take out a full health humvee. Plus you gotta love the fire and forget of the RPG. Having to stay exposed to guide the AT can suck. There are, sometimes, opportunities to guide the AT into a target that is on the other side of a hill or around the edge of a building so that that you remain out of view. I love when I can pull that move off.

That really bugged me about the expansion (aside from the fact it seemed like all of the SF weapons are a hojillion times better than the base weapons) because the RPG is kind of a piece of sh*t in real life. Well... the RPG-14 is pretty effective, but still.
Oh, is there a way I can sucessfully free up the unlocks for LAN play without having to connect to the internet? A bunch of me and my army buddies would like to play with the cooler weapons without having to play on the sh*tty maps. I know the .cfg file change doesn't work anymore.

Is it top attack? If it's top attack, the answer is yes. I've got some great footage of TOW2B's in NLOS (non-line-of-sight, IE: top-attack) that will make your jaw drop.

Downloading it now 03/14/06 at 9:00 p.m. EST looks like a 352 MB file thats about an hour to download.
