Christ. It's 10 times worse than I thought. I hereby firmly place my vote in the "CGI or really, really good puppetry would've been better" category.

I did. I am looking at a 6'0" Ex-Wimbledon player whose previous fame is being "Bullet Tooth Tony" portraying a 8'8", five foot wide wall of muscle and aggression. My dissapointment is palpable.

There are even WORSE pictures out there than these. Aint It Cool News or Dark Horizons linked to them about a month ago (sorry, can't dig them up while at work). One shows Colossus metal'd up crouching next to Rogue during a battle. What sucks is that his metallic arms look like metal plated plastic tubing sewn into the costume. His face makeup also looks like silvery makeup you can buy for a Halloween costume. I was expecting some quality CGI work to really bring Colossus to life but it looked like a really bad half-assed attempt to save money.

And wait until you see the band of "evil" mutants this time around. They look like homeless goths with an over-abundance of hair gel and a wardrobe stolen from The Matrix.

And Jackson made normal sized humans look like hobbits and dwarves, things can be done to fool the eye into percepting different sizes and depth.

I would just like to see the finished product before I dip into my fanboy side thats all.

Aw, come on. How can you say that? Vinnie Jones practically screams Juggernaut.

Of course, he screams it like a girl, but still.

Out of curiosity, what real person can you think of who could portray a 8'8", five foot wide wall of muscle and aggression?

But Colossus looked fine in X2, could this and the pics of Juggernaut be stand ins for CCG to be added later? There was so much promise at the end of X2 with the Phoenix. Why Singer, why? For Clark F'ing Kent?

Different Wimbledon.

As you can see here, Mr. Jones certainly has the "aggression" down, but not really the whole "bigness" factor.

Perhaps i'm just being an alarmist, but if Hollywood has made so much else look reasonable. Almost attractice. Perhaps they'll get this right, but that just doesn't look anywhere close to OK. Every other example you've given, Mayfield, I felt "so-so" about when I looked at it. This I just feel 100% bad about.

It's amazing how a lot of the costumes used in movies look like crap out off the big screen. Did any of you see that Star Wars exhibit at the Smithsonian? Most of the costumes looked pretty cheesy. I must admit this looks pretty bad, though.

Ok, disregard my previous comments about the Halloween makeup... instead it looks like a clunky silver mask...

I looked around and I can't find that picture of Rogue and Colossus anywhere now. Also, for those Vinnie Jones haters, you better get used to him because he's signed to appear in X4 and X5 (if they actually make them).

Lastly, a little blurb from Ratner on the pics floating around...

Quote:
Ratner: Don't Judge X3 on Early Photos
The X-Men 3 director takes issue with fan criticism over the way his mutants look.

Referring to early shots of Beast, Colossus and others from X-Men: The Last Stand, director Brett Ratner said: "Those photos were [taken] before I even started shooting. They were done in the testing process, so those photos are very, very old," he told MTV.

"I think whenever you're on the Internet and you have nothing to do and you're a fan, you become very anxious to get the information, but you have to consider the source," he said, further decrying the leaks. "If it's sent out by [the studio], then you know it's official, but if it's put up on the Internet by someone who stole something illegally, then I think you should first consider what you're looking at."

He insists the final version of the characters will please fans of the classic comics.

"If you take any beautiful woman and put her in bad lighting, she's not gonna look good," Ratner said, insisting that the leaked images have had the same effect on his costumes. "It's not the look of the movie and it's not even close to what we went for, and I'm hoping when the fans see the final result, they're gonna love it."

Finally, Ratner admits what some fans would say was obvious: "I love [the X-Men] world, and I'm sure Bryan Singer would love to do it too, and he's actually better at it than I am," he admitted before bringing up the planned Wolverine and Magneto solo films. "For him to come back [for those] would be amazing," Ratner said. "Just like I would love to do a Superman movie one day. We'll swap."

Well, Colossus was a pretty boy.

And Colossus did look fine in X2 because they used an extremely well-done CG effect for his metal skin.

I'm totally expecting to be disappointed by X3.
