This issue of the Escapist has an article by our very own Fletcher! I just thought I'd drop a note to the forums so we could all vicariously bask in the glory. Congrats!

You beat me to this by two minutes. Damn you, ye of the cute dog avatar!
Congrats, Fletch! The article turned out fabulous. I hope you get to write for them again.

Nice job, Fletch.
I like The Escapist. I just hate the web design that completely ignores the possibility of font sizes overriden on the browser end (on my laptop's 1680x1050 display, I increase the minimum font size so's I can actually see it, and so the text overflows behind the menu and outside of the image background).
Thankfully they have a PDF version to read, but it would still be nice for a more thoughtfully designed web interface.

Nice job Fletch, no creepy avatar there I see.
BTW, "Jenny Cartwright"? Come on, that has to be made up!
GWJ is big time now!
I've done that too - only thing that bothers me there is that there's no way to navigate from one page to the next in the text version.

Yes - what I mean is going from one article to the next.
It's just a little annoying to go to the text version, read it, then go back and Next-Next-Next-Next through the article's regular version to get to the next article.
Maybe there's a better way that I'm missing, but like I said, I just started reading the PDF version.

Good article and all, and I love Fallout as well, but don't you think should have given Anthrax more credit than Sting? Those guys pulled no punches! Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure the Kroft puppets made a contribution.
Seriously, that was my favorite bit of the article.

Kick ass article, and one that resonates deeply with this Cold War kid. Makes we want to go back and finish Fallout.

I've been wondering what to play in my non-WoW hours; apparently, it's Fallout 2. Wicked.

Excellent article, Fletcher. A thoughtful illustration of why games matter.
My parents wouldn't let my siblings or I watch The Day After, so sure were they that it would traumatize us. I recall that they were pretty freaked out by it themselves. Which freaked me out vicariously. I remember thinking to myself that if nuclear war was something my parents were worried about, I had good reason to be afraid.

I'll send you my DVD copy. It's still chilling to this day. I was in a funk for about a day after watching it again recently.

Beautifully-done, Fletch. Here's hoping there are more.
I've seen The Day After, if by "seen" we can refer to the last eighteen seconds or so. I've been meaning to rent it because I, too, am a post-apocalypse junkie. I guess I have no more excuses.

I don't know if this needs to be said or not - hopefully it's apparent - but we absolutely love seeing people who essentially donate their time, efforts, and talents to GWJ find success alongside, and hopefully as a result of, the work they do here. An outstanding and creative article, to be sure. Fine work, sir.

I bet the boys at NMA are having a field day with this one. Fletch, is the title an homage to the long standing community favorite post-apoc fansite (duckandcover.cx), or is it just one of them pop cult references that I so frequently miss?[/i]
