Where in that entire article do you see the letters "A", "G", and "P" used together? Damn you for getting my hopes up, Po! Damn you and your black Schecter! And your blacker heart!

I just bought two ATI x850 Platinums and am very happy with them. They support 4xAGP and 8xAGP. I have one system with a 4x port and one with an 8x port, so it was a good match for me.

If this turns out to be a decent card, it's definately my list.

edit: upon further review, I'm not seeing the AGP information either. I hereby join Coldforged in his damnation rituals.

BFG is making an AGP version, and it is apparently already commercially available.

Pics of it in this post over at the Nvidia forums. Supposed to outperform the AGP X850XT by 20-30%.

edit: actually, looks like a few CompUSA stores accidentally broke the Feb. 2 street date. So they're not actually supposed to be commercially available yet. DOH!

Nice.

Well, at least all the AGP hold-outs now have that one last step in their upgrade path before they have to re-build.

Oops, going to have to call off the ritual, mid sacrifice too. Anyone need 3 and 1/2 goats?

Seriously though, I appreciate the heads up Po. If this card can handle Oblivion and Gothic 3 at decent levels, I may have just eeked another year out of my computer.

I guess the real question would be; Is the performance boost worth the price to upgrade from a 6800GT to the 7800GS?

If so it is nice to know my system isn't completely dead and I actually have another upgrade option before having to build a completely new rig. If not I pray we get some good PC to console ports in the coming years.

Upgrading again uuuhh........My wallet hurts just thinking about it.

Curses! I didn't think to look in the gaming forum!

Well, here's the link to the review I posted in my now quite locked thread:

Here's the Anandtech article on it. Note this is NOT the same article linked above.

Doesn't look like a clear cut better card than the X850XT.

The only gripe that I have with the Anadtech article is that they took off the shelf cards and underclocked them to stock speeds.

Anandtech Article wrote:
As mentioned, we currently have both a 7800 GS from EVGA and the 7800 GS OC from BFG. Neither of these cards run at the default 375/1.2 clock speeds set forth by NVIDIA. For the purposes of these tests, we underclocked a card to the minimum speed that NVIDIA is endorsing.

.. which is a substantial decrease from the "normal" speeds of those cards

Anandtech Article wrote:
The EVGA card is clocked at core/mem clocks of 460/1.35, while the BFG part runs at 400/1.25

FiringSquad's review lists both stock and OC speeds which, in my opinion, gives a little clearer picture.

Thanks for linking that. I had been looking for a site that included the 9800 Pro on the benchmarks. That's the one thing I'm able to relate to.
