WOW: Challenging 5 mans?
Is there any challenging 5 man instances left in the game for equipped level 60's? It just seems like it has been forever since I have run a hard 5 man instance(not counting the DM tribute where I was the only healer in party as a lvl 54 priest). Last close to tuff run for me, as Nekar, was the princess run in BRD(over 1 month ago), where the server was suddenly going to be reset in 15 minutes. We soo zerged that last part, it wasn't even funny. Yes, a 5 man ZERG, lol. Must have chain pulled 20 full groups on us in about 10 minutes, and we where still standing! Standing, hell we promptly pulled the final boss & pincess along with 2 groups of 5 elite mobs at once. Ok, that last pull was enuff to kill us. But if we actually had time to finish that run properly, there would have been very little challenge. Last time I was in 5 man LBRS, we ended up chain pulling the entire "Orc Ally" not even wiping. I remember the days of, if a single runner gets away, it's a wipe. Now runners are just easy way to pull next group of mobs, for faster clearing of instance.
We have gotten to the point where we actually make the instance harder on purpose. Trying to steal agro from tanks, breaking CC'ed mobs, chain pulling, speed runs, ect. While entertaining and fun(some times) it still seems to me, to be artifical.
Any ideas, comments?
PS. Fighting world bosses naked(while entertaining) is not what I am thinking!

Have you tried UBRS five man?
LBRS, Strat, Scholo, DM, they were all designed to be able to complete 5 man, so a well experienced well geared group of 5 man 60s should not have a problem with them. I know some people like to try to run these with only 3 or 4 for the challenge. Try BRD three man. Try ZG with 15-16.
I think this is why as a guild we need to start working on ZG. The 5 mans are no longer difficult. Not because we are over powered, but we understand the instances. I think most 5 mans this guild could put together would still wipe in strat if a bad pull happened..(bad memories of right after mouse trap in live, ugghhh).
But we need to continue to do these instances with those that do not yet have the gear so they can help us tackle the bigger challenges like ZG or eventualy, some day, way in the future, MC. I think we need to look out for those newer 60's and get them their gear. That means doing UBRS again, even though there is nothing there to interest some of us.
I'm looking forward to doing ZG. Not because of loot, although it's a nice incentive, but because it will be new and challenging. Half the fun will be figuring out how to master it!
While there aren't too many overall tough 5-man instances that are tough, there are some events inside of them that can be rough. The shaman helm quest in Rattlegores room in Scholo is alot of fun and pretty tough. The Warlock epic mount event after killing Immolthar in DM west can be pretty challenging. I havn't tried the Ogre event in LBRS in a long damn time, it used to be hard about a year ago, maybe not so much anymore though...
5-manning encounters like the Oracle and Demeitra in Plaguelands is fun...Doing the final event in the Battle for Darrowshire with 5 people would be brutal too.
But yeah, they have nerfed down the dungeons so much over the last year, that for the most part, a well-geared well-balanced group of 60s isnt going to have any problems with the current instances for the most part.
They need more encounters in instances like the Rend event in UBRS, just harder...thats probably my favorite part of an instance to this day. Makes you fight at their pace, not atthe pace yo uare comfortable with. Any situation where you can pull mobs at your leisure is going to be simple after doing it a few times. Thats why I love that room before the Emperor in BRD, no time to rest, just kill, kill, kill and hope you outlast them.
Kyena - Warrior - Blades of Vengeance Guildmaster - WoW Blackhand server
Ah, the legendary Princess rescue server restart. It was amazing how close we came to actually finishing it. I'd really like to give it another shot if we can get 3 more to come along, preferably rogue, mage, priest. Tommorrow? C'mon puddin's!

Challenge accepted!
I will be there! Name the place and time. Ok I remember the place, just the time them.
Just Don't let Bumpie Know! That UBBER Druid ring will finally be mine!

Doh!
It is a quest reward. I always say 2 druids are better than ...

I already had Nekar on the list, of course. How about 1 or 2 pm on Saturday, so we would have plenty of time before MC? A second druid could sub for the rogue, since you guys can stealth to find the torch holders.

You mean ZG right? BOV is doing MC on their own this weekend. As stated by kyena and shown on their website.

And Nekar, you gonna hit ZG with us on Saturday I hope?
Yeah, I responded to this thread before I read the stuff about MC. So just substitute "ZG" for "MC" above.

If you think the instances are too easy, try doing it 4 or 3 man. Might make for much more of a challenge =)
Outside of 5 man instances, I cannot think of anything horribly challenging. For some good times and a break, have you done the Silithus line of quests? Not the ones that lead to the AQ instance, but the quests that were there before the war effort. One of the quest lines where you kill that big egyptian "thing" in the middle of Silithus has some great rewards and faction increases.
Outside of that, I would have to agree that ZG is your next best bet if UBRS is something you are mowing through now.
Warhammer: Haruspex / Marauder at large
4 manned DM north Tribute run last night in a pickup group. No mage or rogue for CC, and the main tank was using a 2 handed weapon (ie. no shield). To top it off, the hunter didn't fiegn and the shamman rarely healed, something about he was DPS specced. Burned nearly 7000 mana on every pull, healing the MT and the shamman(who thought he was MT), not to mention the hunter with his huge crits. Rather trying run all in all. But we did complete it, and I even got the Mind-surge robes!
Not exactly what I was looking for in a challenging run sort of way. Guess I should be careful of what I wish for?

FYI, Shaman involved was NOT Relkman

Hehe, get more pickups if you want your challenge to be dealing with idiots.
I vote for Stratholme as the toughest 5 man dungeon especially the live side.

I actually think 5manning the undead side is harder. Especially the slaughterhouse part.
Yeah your right i've been through both a few times since I posted that and the dead side is definately a bit harder. I think my problem with the live side is that we always try to do the post master when we do that side and he is a bit annoying. Although last night we figured out that you can pull his buddies away from him.

Another vote for 4-manning here. Loads of fun.
