A chance to run MC with Cool Cats and Faded Dreams

In an effort to increase participation in the war effort to open the gates of AQ, two of the biggest guilds on Blackhand have set up a special contest.

Basically, the top 10 people that turn in the most items will earn a trip through Molten Core (with up to 5 friends) and certain number of epic drops, depending on what place they finish in. One of their reps just needs to be present when we turn stuff in to verify the numbers for the contest. Read the post at the link above for all the details.

I know several of us have discussed how helpful it would be to run MC with one of these major guilds to see their strategies first hand. This seems like a good chance to actually do it. I'm willing to give it a shot if anybody wants to join me. I've been turning in stuff for the war effort anyway, so I figure it's worth the chance to win something extra along the way.

If we do this, the entire guild should give everything to one person so that person's statistics look better. Then we can figure what other 4 people get to go via some equitable system.

On the Alliance side one of the MC guilds is doing this as well for Roast Raptor and we have all been sending our raptor flesh to Erashna. Last night he said he was up to around 500 to turn in.

Also, we should see how far along they are and if it's even possible to catch up.

That would certainly be a magnificent trip to win!

Would it also include a trip to Disney World, which in its own way is not unlike Molten Core?

Unless I am reading it incorrectly, http://www.coolcatguild.org/wareffort.php, the lowest score has 20 points which would be the equivalent of 800 wool bandages, the top score has 190 points which would be 7600 wool bandages....that's alot of bandages.

Not to put a damper on the optimism here, but I think this will quickly spiral out of control and beyond the reach of our casual demeanor.

Also, where does it say the a winner get's to bring 5 of their friends? I can't seem to find that...

Well in the post it says you can see the front runners at http://www.coolcatguild.org/wareffort.php.

So far looks pretty meager, but you know people are going to be hording stuff till near the end.

Ooops, found the 5 thing on the WOW boards.

And to think the AH prices weren't already well out of control...

They just announced the Cool Cats/Faded Dreams contest today, so we can't be behind by much at this point. We would want to get started soon, though. They will be drawing 5 people at random, as well, so there's a chance to go even if we don't turn in that much stuff.

I can gather a lot of Peacebloom, Purple Lotus, and Firebloom pretty quickly, so that's what I'm working on.

Since Loki is the Guildmaster, it makes sense for it to be him, unless he doesn't want the hassle.

ok..ok..ok.. I don't mean to be the stinky sock in all this, but let's say we all contribute a crap load of stuff. How does Loki determine who is going to go with? Is he gonna keep track of everything sent his way? And then does this become an internal competition to see who might possibly get to go with if Loki does win?

Just wanna make sure we don't rush into this without a plan.

Sigh, this is already turning into a drama and that's not what I wanted. I'm going to try to turn some stuff in for an (admitted) long shot at actually finishing MC. If you have any interest in pooling stuff, send me a message in the game.

Will I get to go? Probably not, but I was going to be turning in stuff for the war effort, anyway, so I figured there's nothing to lose on my end...

The only problems I have with this are the following:

1. The chances of winning are so remote as to be nearly pointless unless everyone did this and did nothing but farmed for it.

2. I'd rather have the rep for myself to get exalted with the various factions then give it to one person.

3. Grosh brings up a good point. Who does it to go? Sounds like a bad idea to me, will just cause rifts between people.

There are plenty of ways you could design a system of who gets to go if people really wanted to do it. You could do random draw among the people that participated, or you could let the people that contributed the most go. We're all mature enough to deal with it, just as we're all mature enough to lose loot that we really want in instances, cough Crimson Felt Hat cough cough Burial Shawl cough cough Dah'l Rend Sacred Charge cough I think I'm choking.

That said, I'd rather kill sh*t in AV than aoe wool droppers.

Though if said wool-dropping AOE recipients happened to be elves, no one would be too upset.

Exactly. Obviously, some people's feelings would be hurt if they participated and they didn't get to go. The chances of finishing in that top ten are not really feasible the more I think about it, so anybody who's interested in the guild should be shooting for the raffle. I'm turning in the minimum to get an entry for myself and hoping for a lucky draw.

Wow, nice going guys! Maybe my idea wasn't so dumb after all. I'm going to get busy on the herbs to help out (no strings attached). I'd really like to see somebody from the guild go.

Just to explain what our little farming cabal is up to...

We are trying to win one of the prizes. However, for now we'd like to limit our entry to ourselves. It's going to take way too much effort to accept the possibility that we could win and then not receive the coveted purples. We'd love to get epics for everyone, but we felt that smaller groups were more fair. As of now, we're in the running to get 2-3 items.

For those who would like to participate, though, my recommendations:

*Everyone* should do a minimum contest turn-in. This makes you eligible for a raffle prize trip through MC complete with 2 epic items. You need two hundred of most items, except metal bars (100), before you contact one of the Cool Cats judges (see coolcatguild.org).

Make your own group of 3-4 if you want to try to win. It's probably still possible to compete because the contest may go on for awhile. The points are awarded per stack of ten or twenty, so the totals may not be as unattainable as you might think.

If you want to contribute to our total (and our prizes), you are allowed to tell the judges that the submission is for Branes. We certainly welcome this, but again you really should do one minimum turn-in for yourself first. If the entire guild does so, I have a feeling that at least one of us would get a raffle prize.

I'll contribute a ton of wool and peacebloom off of my characters to whomever is trying to do this. I've just been throwing it all up on the AH to speed up my crafting and help gear me up into my 20s. I know it's not a huge amount, but I can gather around 80 wool and 40 or so peacebloom a day.

I figure since I'm nowhere near 60, I may as well help out one of you that's already up there

I turned in 200 rugged last night to enter the raffle and I will be the first to admit that the prizes given just for the turn in itself from the NPC vendors are outstanding. For 20 turn-ins I ended up with about 25 green items, more scrolls than I could possibly use, and a Heartseeking Crossbow. That haul dwarfs what I would have gotten on the AH for 200 rugged, even at the inflated prices. Heh, dwarfs.

I assume by sending me a bajillion items in the mail you want them DE'd? I can do that, just wanted to make sure.
