Glad to hear you guys back on the air.

Whew I was starting to go crazy without my GWJ radio fix of the week... I've only JUST been surviving on redalin... Welcome back guys!

Does anyone know how long it takes iTunes to pick up the updated feed? I too am jonsing for GWJ Radio fix, but I'm too lazy to download it on my own. I just want to hit my "update" button and have it auto-magically get sucked into my computer ready for my listening pleasure.

The Wakey Twins return! I missed you guys.

Just started listening. A couple of observations:

Fletcher, I think you're right about the Revolution, it's going to sell a brazillon units. Safe bet. Regarding the terms of the wager, the penalty you've proposed has become something of an item in our Pacific Northwest community. You can check out detailed coverage in our local newsweekly here. (Link is fairly SFW, unless detailed but clinical desciptions of nether part epilations are forbidden).

Oh, and I hated that Half-Life level. It felt like busywork.

Dammit! It won't update for me either, I'll look into it.

It updated for me... than again I have it set to check for updates every hour! iTunes + Firewall don't mix in my office.

Good work on the show!

Ah, it is there for me now too, but the iTunes auto-downloader was confused by the change in the file naming convention. Now, to get down to the business of ignoring my work for an hour and eleven minutes.

Oh my God, Sean, pull it out! Pull it out!

Yoink! And honestly, I thought that Darrell Hammond would have sounded better as Bond than Sean Connery.

Edit: And you needed someone with a high-pitched voice to sing, "In the year Two Thousand...and One!"

American McGee presents... had me laughing.

How do we end the show on a quote?

Try using the tune whenever you lost all your lives in the original Super Mario Brothers, or have Ian get you a non-licensed and legally distinct knockoff of said tune. Everyone loves Mario Bros. tunes.

Edit: And a simple Trek Wiki search shows that Armisius is not the character Russ was thinking of, which would be Armus. Hell, you'd think twenty years after the old show of cardboard sets and VFX where you could see the hands holding up the model of the Enterprise they'd be able to come up with something closer to the original concept art than just some dude drenched in Pennzoil.

I'm torn: do I congratulate Rat Boy on his successful "nerd burn" of Fletcher, or do I needle him about being such a nerd that he would fact check this?

I suppose I'd better go with the former option. Something about stones and glass houses comes to mind when I consider the latter.

Well gee, when the Trek Wiki says something in Trek doesn't exist, something that Fletch nerded out on in a podcast for all humanity to hear, I simply need to feed my curiousity.

Sultans of Swing! Sweat and Rainbows! American McGee bringing lattes! Great episode.

Now I know what I'm waiting for in 2007... The audio recording of Fletch going Brazilian.

Ar-mi-si-us (pronounced ar-MEE-see-us) the last 3 syllables rhyme with Theseus of greek myth.

Where is the best place for the damn sentry guns??!!!!

that particular spot on that level was actually a game killer for me. I moved back to Rome :Total War when my mind became filled with visions of sheets of flaming arrows slicing my enemies to the ground. I'm sure I'll return to Nova Prospekt, but not until I've taken my proper seat as the emperor of Rome. All Hail Imperator!!!

I loved your radio show as always. Plus as an added bonus I was thrilled to get the "Mad Props."

Just so you know, because of the high praise that Guitar Hero keeps getting on this website I'm gonna have to take the plunge and buy it, as soon as it becomes available again.

By the way Fletcher, about my name. I'm sorry to dissappoint. I've never even seen a complete Star Trek episode from beginning to end. (I think of Patrick Stewart more as Professor X than I do Captain Picard - sorry) The source of my mysterious name is from my old-school first edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Elven Magic-user. His full name was Armisius Shalifus. Those of you familiar with Dragonlance will recognize my last name as a bastardization of the term "Shalifi" meaning "Master" as Dalamar called Raistlin. In any case, Armisius has become my chosen name for just about any spellcasting RPG character that I create in whatever game. You may have met me briefly on a foray into Everquest a few years ago as well.

ps. if you can't rhyme ancient greek mythological characters names, what are you good for?

Dude, you are not allowed to make a post this convoluted and uninteresting until you're at least an intern.

I can't tell you all how relieved I am to have been wrong about Armisius's name. Truly. I can now, once again, sleep well at night, confident in the knowledge that I am less of a geek than I had previously feared. Thanks, Rat Boy!

Rat Boy, licensed Geek Exorcist. You think you know everything, but you don't.

Well, Fletch, my ex works for Aveda... and I can tell you, and Certis, since it sounds like he needs the info to supervise... A Brazilian wax is EVERYTHING OFF in the "crotchular area" We're not just talking balls, we're talking balls, taint, just about everything below the belly button before you get into legs.

And that is this week's episode of Demos Knows Far More About This Than He Should. As a note, regrowth sucks!

In a thread that references this much Star Trek esoterica, i'm not sure you can call my "heartwrenching personal memoir" uninteresting.

yes, admittedly it is a long and rambling, but as you pointed out, i'm new to the community and I wanted to share my geekiness as well.

I guess I can't expect to get "Mad Props" for every post I make.

Perhaps Mr. Lobster would prefer that I lurk quietly in the back of the forums, only speaking when spoken to. But then I wouldn't have shared my idea for the show.

Eh, ignore him. He's only been here for like a month or two himself. He just talks alot

I, for one, welcome your vaguely uninteresting personal remembrances.

American McGee presents my latte! I love it. I'm gonna say that next time I go to Starbucks.

Good episode, guys.

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration, Mr. Clean.

Look, man, there's no need to take it personally. I'm just saying if every coffee grinder gave us a paragraph on how he came up with his D&D character's last name, we'd... y'know... be bored and stuff. If you only want to prove you're a gigantic geek, that's cool. Take it to one of the 3 dozen Firefly threads.

Man, I am SO getting teabagged this Thursday.

Today, on out of context theater:

Maybe while you're down, someone can remove that stick from your pooper

Adam Sandler: I made a hat out of a lobster and a stick!

The American McGee jokes had me cracking up at work... ah, beautiful.

Happy Kristlemas! Nice ep.

...to make room for me Thursday.

I sho' did miss my GWJ Radio, glad to have it back. You guys didn't miss a beat with all that downtime. I could tell you two were happy to be back "at it" and that just brings warm and fuzzy feelings all around. Also glad to see legitimate props to our resident theme composer. Great work y'all!

The discussion of how to end the show on a quote cracked me up. I'd suggest just making the quote, let everyone else figure out where it came from. "I'm Russ, this is Shawn, and remember ...(insert quote)"...cue music...fade out...

For example:

I'm Russ, this is Shawn, and remember, "it's not rocket science. It's just a toaster. As long as it toasts bread, you're golden." (see, that's funny!)

If it makes Certis feel better, I found myself playing my first few hands of online Poker while listening to the radio show.

I think it't the mix of sport stations in Canada showing poker constantly and the commercials... but damn a game is a game.
