Scrubs, where have you been all my life?

I saw my first episode last night and it is really fricking good. No laugh track, good zanny humour, and did I mention no laugh track?

NBC may have me watching Tuesday nights if My Name is Earl turns out well.

Scrubs is a great show. It's kind of akin to Arrested Development in my mind, funny and clever, and I always enjoy it when I remember to catch it. I almost never remember to catch it, though.

Scrubs is awesome, and is one of only three TV shows I could ever see myself buying. The other two being Seinfeld and Family guy. Well, and Firefly, but that's only one season.

Scrubs is probably the best comedy on TV still producing new episodes in my book. Arrested Development cannot even carry Scrubs luggage.

In my opinion, Arrested Development sucks. It is not funny. It is a lame take-off of Curb your Enthusiam, a show which honestly itself isn't that great. Just my opinion.

I disagree about Arrested Development. I haven't seen another show on the air that makes me laugh as hard as that one.

Curb Your Enthusiasm, on the other hand, isn't very interesting to me. Granted I've only seen one episode, but that one episode was pretty damn boring.

Btw, the first season of Scrubs is out on DVD. DeepDiscountDVD has it for $32 + shipping.

I'm looking forward to My Name is Earl as well... always have found Jason Lee to be damn funny.

The only thing I worry about, Scrubs-wise, is how the show will fare being Sarah Chalke-less... or, at least, less Sarah Chalke-ful. I guess we'll see, though.

As for My Name is Earl, I agree on the "Jason Lee is funny" point, but have you seen some of the previews and whatnot for this show? It just doesn't look funny to me.

Different strokes.
I laughed out loud at the latest one.
It looks freakin' hilarious.

Scrubs is the shiznit. It's like they took my sense of humor, bottled it, and poured it on film. It problably makes me laugh out loud more than any other show on TV.

I generally find Jason Lee funny, but the commercials for My Name is Earl have not made me want to see it. I'll probably watch the first episode and decide whether or not to keep it in my DVR series list.

haha - my stepfather once mistook the pepper spray canister on my keychain as a cigarrete lighter and doused himself good. Funny as hell. Even he laughed about it...after the sting went away. He was standing there saying "what the hell IS that?" I still laugh about it.

Haven't seen any of the shows discussed in this thread...or even previews...my TV watching is at an all time low, but had to share the funny...back to lurking now.

Scrubs is a great show. I like how they mix humor with serious topics in the background.

*slight spolier*
My favorite episode is where Brendan Fraser's character "passes" and how they present it.

Yeah, that's a great episode.

As a sidenote, that ep also gave me great personal comfort, through the knowlege that my friends and I are not the only ones who play "Gay Chicken."

Let me jump on this dogpile of love for Scrubs. My wife and I have re-watched the first three seasons umpteen times, bought the first season DVD's and will buy seasons two and three. Not sure about season 4... I thought it was kind of weak. They need to get back into the hospital.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER ***

Quote:
Executive producer Bill Lawrence said Chalke, who portrays Dr. Elliott Reid on the hospital comedy, would be back next fall, despite her character's exit from Sacred Heart Hospital, TV Guide reported Sunday.

"I imagine we'll see (Chalke) the same amount as before", he said, adding that Elliott's new job will allow her to "reinvent" herself. "Even though she'll still be friends with (central characters J.D., Turk and Carla), she can completely redefine who she is."

Oh, well that's good. She's a) funny and b) hot and c) funny.

From what I read at the end of last season, the general thought was that she wouldn't be leaving permanently, but that she would be appearing in a reduced capacity.

And no, the new season hasn't started yet. Thursday the 18th is the first new ep. Tivo it up!

I saw this network preview and they said it's going to be on Tuesdays before My Name is Earl.

I can't find a link to a press release or something that clearly states the move, but here's the fall 2005-2006 primetime lineup as reported by Variety a couple weeks ago. There's no Scrubs on there, and My Name is Earl is a lead-in to The Office. There are two episodes of Scrubs back-to-back this Thursday, but those are reruns thrown in because NBC canceled The Law Firm. If you Google for "scrubs midseason" you will get a lot of hits about it.

Pretty much if I like a comedy, that's the kiss of death. Now I hear Starved is "struggling" for ratings. Sigh.
