GWJ Recipes
This is a new type of post with the new software called a "book page". If you're familiar with the concept, think of it like a wiki. Anybody can edit these posts, and add their own little bits, and it keeps track of what each user does. You can see a list of changes and the differences between them on the "diff" page.
These posts are always available from the "Bookshelf" portion of the site, so we can always get to these posts quickly and easily.
So let's start this off right by getting to the recipes.
I just did an edit, which you can see from the "diff" tab across the top of the post!
How to Contribute
Simply click the "edit" tab at the top of the post and add your contribution. Then click "Preview" to look things over or "Submit" to add your changes to the main post. Anybody can edit!
Here's some from the old Cooking Ideas and Recipes thread.
DrunkenSleipnir's Notes
Hi all - I've moved all the (real) recipies to catagorically organized pages. You can see them on the side bar, over there, and also at the bottom. You can also navigate to them from the "Bookshelf" which you should see over on the top navigation bar between "Games" and "Infinite Lives". Anyone can edit the topics, as Lobo described above, and everyone should be encouraged to do so. If you have a recipe you want to add, but don't think it would fit in an existing catagory, make a new one! When you create post, select "book page' and make this page, "GWJ Recipes" the parent. This is very, very similar to a wiki. For simplicity, try to keep the recipes themselves on the main page, and comments, suggestions, and requests on in the comment fields. If nothing else, I hope this little experiment of mine today demonstrates the value of the Bookshelf feature which the staff kindly brought us. So, everyone feel free to contribute, and everyone enjoy!
My favorite is Savory Deviate Fish.

I just posted those edits, it seems when admins edit it doesn't create a revision.

How about a cocktail recipe? This drink probably has a name, but I've tried several on for size in local bars (Boston area) and drawn nothing but blank stares, so I just make it myself and call it "delicious."
-Collins glass (these are called "(iced) tea glasses" in the South).
-Add ice.
-Fill half-way with bourbon.
-Fill rest of the way with lemonade (the more tart the better).
-Do not stir.
-Garnish with an orange slice or a cherry if you're a girl, or gay or something.
-Add a plastic sword (with or without the garnish) because plastic swords are cool, and can be used later to poke people who annoy you.
-Drink.
-Repeat. Often.

Ya, I was gonna say he could go with several there.. Bitter Bourbon Lemonade, Lynchburg Lemonade, or possibly Lorreto Lemonade.

Yeah, that's what I know it as. But in Boston it's apparently called a "Huh?"

Hey Fletch, could you put it in the original post? The whole point of these things is so that people can all collaborate on one big post.

Hey LobsterMobster, how did you delete LockAndLoad's recipie? I rolled back and fixed it, but it seems when you edited it you deleted the last recipie.

Um ... right. I guess it helps to know the point, doesn't it? Jeebus, you get busy for a few weeks and the whole world moves on without you. The humanity!

Herbed Fish from The British Museum Cookbook
This is easy and it got me an offer of marriage the first time I made it. Too bad I was already married to someone else.
1 filet of fish I have found that salmon trout and bass are best, though it works on any fish
Fresh sprigs of Sage, Mint and Rosemary
Bay leaves
Olive oil or butter
Preheat the oven to 400F
Oil a pan
Put filet in pan and score the fish in a crosshatch pattern
Alternate the herbs on the fish
Drizzle oil or place thin butter pats on top of the herbs
Cook on top rack in oven for 20 minutes
Enjoy!
sometimes I add a little black pepper, but it doesn't need it. If you live by the Chesapeake Bay, get some Rockfish. That one is my fav with this recipe.

Apple Stuff
Apples for baking. I use Stayman rather than Grannysmiths.
Honey
Roasted nuts I use hazelnuts though walnuts work too.
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
Black pepper
Peel and cut the apples into small pieces placing them in a nonstick baking dish or a lightly greased baking dish.
Add enough honey to coat the apples.
Cinnamon and nutmeg to taste. A dash of black pepper. Add nuts. Mix thoroughly. Bake at 350F until apples are soft. Stir occasionally while cooking to keep honey mixed and not pooled at the bottom.
If you want to roast your own nuts....
buy whole nuts and grind in a mortar and pestle. Cook over med heat on stove in a pan lightly greased with olive oil.

Russian Vinagrette Salad
Olive Oil
Salt
Pepper
3 carrots peeled
1 potato ( you can use 2) peeled
1 16oz container of saurkrat
1 16 oz can of peas drained
1 16 oz can of beets drain and reserve the liquid
1 pickle any type ( I prefer dill)
Cook the potato and carrot in water. Rinse the saurkrat so all the sour is out and all you have is cooked cabbage. Be sure to wring all excess water from the cabbage before mixing with other veggies.
Cut the carrots, potato, pickle and beets into 1/4" pieces
In a bowl, mix the carrots, potato, beets, cabbage and peas. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add pickles and mix. Add 1TBSP of oil and the beet juice. Mix thoroughly.
This dish may be seved immediately; however, it is best the next day.

For the herbed fish recipe, if you can't get fresh herbs, dried is fine.

Hey guys, is there a way we should try to organize this? Have them sorted by contributor, ingredients, difficulty, etc.?

Also if they get too big, we can split it up into several pages and link them all together in the same book.

Cookbook editing is an art, Pyro, not a science. We can organize them by author, by time of day, georaphical location, main ingredients, color palates ... etc.
Perhaps though, since this is a gaming website, we can devise an organizational scheme akin to that of gaming genres. In other words "First Person Shooters" may classify foods best prepared and/or consumed solo, or on-the-fly. Like miniature pizzas. While the RTS section would contain more "involved " recipes, etc.

I tried that mushroom fish tonight. Well, a significant divergence from it, originally inspired by your recipe. Fan-tastic.
