Forza Motorsport
Although there shouldn't be too many complaints about speed, Forza's artificial intelligence may very well start up a fighting frenzy. MGS' sophisticated single-player AI is crafty and impressive, and can be overly aggressive and sometimes downright nasty in some cases. The AI generally follows its own line, staying relatively steady, despite a push a two from yours truly. In amateur races, you'll occasionally get nudged, resulting in spin outs or getting knocked off track. In Professional races, the AI grows fiercer, holding its line more firmly, often nudging you, and more often knocking you off track. I don't have an issue with hard or challenging AI. My thinking is that if it's hard, I need to get better. I love a challenge, as long as the challenge is attainable. And I've studied this AI for some time. If you get knocked out of your position early on, you can still win. It's not impossible. Forza does reward skilled driving. I've come back from third, fourth, even sixth place in tough races and won because I took turns correctly, timed my braking, and carved out my lines perfectly. I've also seen the AI do cool things, like swerving to avoid being hit, carve out beautifully perfect lines, crash into one another, aggressively attempt to pass me, and even accelerate on dirt and grass to get ahead of me. In that last respect, the AI won't let you cheat it.

I want to get this but I''m not paying $65 for it.

On the one hand, I already have way too many driving games. On the other hand, I love racing games and this looks incredibly cool. Let the indecision begin! I''ll be off muttering to myself and rocking back and forth if anyone needs me...

I would love to get this, but my discretionary spending has already been blown for the next few months and I already got my birthday present so I can''t even fall back on that. Yep...going to Fry''s at lunch today. I checked yesterday, and they didn''t have any.
I like Fry''s trend of selling launch titles at 15 bucks below everyone else. I got Jade Empire there for 34.00 on launch day, and they had plenty of copies.
If anyone else is going to the Fry''s in Fountain Vally, CA, I''ll see you there!

Whose knob to I have to polish to get a Fry''s built in Central Florida?

Just remember to ask if you don''t see it, for a few times they hadn''t got the item in yet. Ask for rain check and when they say they''ll call you or whatever when it comes in, don''t count on it. Just check the store again later that day or the next.

Somebody pick the WRX for your car, race on Laguna Seca, and tell me what the max possible speed to take some of the turns is. If the physics haven''t been updated since the demo they released then I want absolutely nothing to do with this game.
It wasn''t realistic, it was just stupid..
If anyone wants descriptions, go ahead and ask, but I''ll be in full-on rant mode for it. After all their talk of realistic handling, that demo really irritated me.

I''ll bite. What were your problems with the Demo Thin_J?
Most of the reviews I have read said the full game was much better than the demo.

From what I''ve been reading the game is completely revamped from the demo in terms of both handling and graphics. I haven''t played either though so I can''t confirm that for certain.
My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.

BAH! Fry''s had it, but wouldn''t sell it. The manager kept saying ""We''re not putting it out unti 4:00"".

If that''s true, I await a impressions and just might buy it. If not, well here goes.
They were all handling related. The graphics, sound, etc.. all that was fine, but the car handling and physics were way off. Not just a little.. but I mean godawful off. My first time through the demo, I chose the WRX.. the track given was Laguna Seca. A fairly difficult track really. There are some extremely sharp turns, and then there are some gradual ones.
My issues with the game revolve entirely around their claims of ""ultra-realistic handling"". Driving a WRX that''s this awesome piece of automotive engineering, but not being able to take the gradual turns in the course at more than 40 miles per hour. If the people developing forza think that''s realistic, boy do I have news for them.
There''s a 90 degree turn on the road right off my street that I take to the interstate every morning before work. I''ve taken said turn at fourty miles per hour before. In my Focus. Yes. My FORD FOCUS. No, that''s not safe driving. Yes, its'' a hell of a lot of fun. Guy''s gotta have some fun in the morning before work sometime. Now, tell me you don''t think a WRX can do what my little focus can do. That''s right, it should blow my doors off, glad we agree.
Well, the developers of Forza apparantly didn''t when they designed their physics.
I''m sure someone somewhere reads that and says.. ""It''s a videogame. If it''s fun who cares?"" Well.. it might have been fun to me had it felt realistic as they claimed it was. But it didn''t.
Please note that I didn''t just give the demo one 5 minute shot say it sucked and then drop it. I attempted the course with all the cars given, just to see if it was perhaps some kind of fluke. It wasn''t. I struggled through the demo with every car multiple times because I wanted to like it. I had been looking forward to playing Forza ever since it was announced.
It was thoroughly disappointing.

Damnit I went to the Fry''s in San Marcos and they told me they wouldn''t have it in until tommorow. So I went and paid full price at the EB Games near there and while I didn''t really enjoy paying full price I will say they had a pretty cute female employee working there.

Stric, the one off of Aero Drive down by the stadium had a billion copies when I got there.
EDIT: Oh yeah, impressions. f*cking good so far. Learning curve is just like Gran Turismo, and is just as frustrating. The online scoreboards double the addictiveness factor though.
The vinyl/decal tool is intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, you can do some really neat stuff.

Maybe I''m just not enough of a gearhead to tell the difference. The physics seem equally realistic, the driver AI seems to be much better, and the tuning options are just as extensive as Gran Turismo''s.
I know a fair bit about cars, but I''m no expert. What am I missing that''s keeping this from being GT?
