Who goes there?

As a short time lurker (since Bill Harris at www.gonegold.com mentioned this site in one of his Night Calls a while back) and newcomer to this forum, two things popped up today as I got here. Which led to a third.

First, Certis says Gamers with Jobs is growing. Great!

Second, Ridlin says hello in another tread.

These got me thinking: It would be fun to see what kind of people post/lurk here. All gamers obviously, but what else?

Just a few questions:

Age?
Family?
Job?
Gaming since?
Console or PC?

Anything else?

I'll go first - 32 years old with wife, daughter (13 months old) and second child on the way (ETA February if all goes well). I also have a dog - half irish wolfhound, half great dane. I work as an executive in the pharma industry. Been hooked since Space Invaders and own an Xbox besides a gaming PC.

Playing right now: Gothic 2 (great game!)

First it''s true GWJ is growing. Second, hi! And third, as it''s widely known I''m a thirty year old gamer expecting my first son this October. I''ve freshly graduated from college which means that as of now I call myself a freelance writer and pretend that running GWJ is a job (it''s really much more fun than that ... most of the time). I''ve pretty much been playing video games as long as memory serves me, and I''ve also got an Xbox to go with my dramatic PC addiction.

Playing now: NCAA 2004
Flight Simulator 2004
Thursday Night Raven Shield
Port Royale
Along with a few others.

Gaming since: Either Atari 2600 or Zork on my Uncle''s oldschool IBM compatible. Not sure what year as time has no meaning, consoles and processor speeds are the only yardstick to measure history by.

Console or PC: PC though occasionally I flirt with my consoles to make it jealous.

Anything else: Sometimes it hurts when I pee.

I''ve been gaming since the pong stand alone machines before 2600. I too dialed in on a modem to my fathers works mainframe to play adventure (xyzzy). I havent looked back since.

I have a moderately equiped PC and I recently traded in my PS2 for an Xbox to play Kotor, Halo and Mechassault. Well and I cant wait for True Fantasy Online.

Before this thread gets taken down that long highway of Off-Topic, I''ll pitch in.
I''m 29 and I swear I''m retiring from gaming at 30...well...at the end of 30. I''ve been married closing in on two years. My only kid is a cat. I''m an art major who has found himself doing client technical support for an ASP...shhh...don''t tell anyone. I''ve got a fair to middlin'' PC and Ein GameCuben.

What I''m playing right now. I went from a gaming valley recently back toward a peak. I''ve currently been dabbling in Tuesday Night EQ, Thursday Night RavenShield. I''m also playing through Serious Sam 2 co-op, trying out Laser Squad Nemesis. And recently an old Tribes teammate has tried to get me back into WC3. We even played some Tribes (1) for old time''s sake.

I''m 32 and sorely in need of some sleep. Married my high-school sweet heart over nine years ago. We have a son who is turning a year old at the end of this month. Did I mention that I''m sorely in need of some sleep? Have a cat that is often referred to as ""vicious bastard.""

Work as a ""computer guy"" for a state agency (i.e. I''m poor). I''ve been gaming since I could put a quarter in the coin slot and reach the joystick and buttons. Have fond memories of spending time with my cousin transcribing pages upon pages of code from magazines into his Atari 400 to play various versions of the ""Syntax Error"" game.

I have an aging PC that just manages to run Divine Divinity (which I''m still finishing) and an X-Box.

I''m 31
I''m married with 2 kids (Age 4 and 2 months)
I''ve been gaming since... don''t know the year. I''ve had a colecovision, a vectrex, a c-64, and one of every generation of IBM system, plus atari 2600, 7800, ps1, ps2, gameboy, and sega gamegear and nomad.
I work as an erotic dancer. Unfortunately I''m not succeeding quite as I''d hoped, so I have a day job as an office clerk. That may all change if my run for Governor of California succeeds.
I mainly play PC games. I think they''re deeper and more complex.
Currently playing Onimusha, Heroes of Might and Magic 2, Praetorians, and Medal of Honor- Allied Assault.

BTW, do any of you married gamers suffer from MGL (married gamer''s lag), where you always seem to be 6 months to a year behind in gaming, playing games that everyone else has finished and moved past? Heck, I suffer from PGL (parent gamer''s lag), playing games that are years old now. Just finished Half Life in June.

Not many surprises so far.

Age: 33 I think (carry the 1...)

Family: Married

Job: Internet security

Gaming since: Since Space Invaders and Pac-man. Owned an Atari 2600, an Atari 800, PC''s since the Compaq luggage computer that my Dad let me play King''s Quest and Wizardry on, and consoles galore. My problem is that I buy games that sit on my shelf untouched, sometimes for years. I have too many games, and nowhere near enough time. Or the alternate happens, I fixate on one game for months at a time (usually a RTS or console football game). Currently I am providing lessons to the Internet gaming community that you just shouldn''t mess with the Sooners (in NCAA 2004).

Console or PC: I''m a multi-platform kinda guy. I agree with the person who said PC''s have more depth, but sometimes I just want to kick someone''s ass in Virtua Fighter. I have several PC''s, a Cube, a PS2, and an Xbox currently attached. I have every old console going back to the SNES still working, and sometimes have to break out the Dreamcast and both sets of Maracas when friends come over (chicks dig rhythm games).

I''m 26, married (almost 2 years), work in software QA, and finally posting after lurking for a couple of months.

Been gaming since... my TI 99 (which I /think/ came before my 2600 - it was a long time ago). Started on PC games with an 8086 and never looked back, except in fond, beer-powered reminiscing moments.

Currently working with my PC and a PS2, playing Truck Dismount while waiting for Lionheart.

Oh, and I''m deadly afraid of MGL, but I normally try to pass it off as TSTPFPS (Too Stubborn To Pay Full Price Syndrome).

I think Fang Blackbone might be the only ex-Ava Tarati (at least on this site) playing PlanetSide. I think Roaman and Felonous might be playing Star Wars Galaxies. I (Bandijia/Krushia) played the open PlanetSide beta and that was about it. Certis, Elysium (Lysion), Fang, and I, along with some forum regulars here, have been recently taking some nostaligic trips back into EQ on Tuesday nights. That''s about all I know regarding Ava Tarati folk. You were the one dressed in green with the pointy stick who died a lot, right?
