Okay, I couldn't help myself.

After having read half-a-dozen reviews for the game, something inside of me snapped and I found myself at the local BB begging the wife to let me buy it...for my son, of course.

Who's 19 months old.

Okay, for my other son...due on May 30.

Oh, all right! For me! I bought the Lego Star Wars game for me. And while it may be aimed at an extremely younger audience than my late, thirtysomething self, I blew a few hours on it so quickly that it was Midnight before I knew it.

You never die. Ever. Sure, you may explode into a million Lego pieces after your health meter drops to zero hearts, but you quickly reform and keep going.

And there's plenty of battles. More lightsaber goodness than I've seen in a while, and while your Jedi may be a tiny, Lego created character, it makes no difference. Battle droids still fall with impunity.

The graphics on the Xbox are crisp, clean, and while defined by the Lego universe, quite faithful to the movies. And the music is all the John Williams' greatness one would expect, constantly playing in the background.

Though I haven't played Republic Commando except for the demo on the Clone Wars DVD, the last two decent Star Wars games I played were Jedi Academy and KotOR. You can add this game, Lego Star Wars to the pantheon of great Star Wars games.

So, while the game may be for the children, I highly recommend it! Remember, you're buying it for the children!

Thanks Puck, I plan to rent it if nothing else. I had a lot of fun with the PC demo.

After about four hours, I beat the first part of Lego Star Wars, aptly entitled ""The Phantom Menace"".

While the game follows pretty closely with the movie, the game advances as you pass certain levels while cutscenes fill-in the better part of the story.

Now that I''ve had some time with the game, here''s a few gameplay issues I''ve discovered:

First, the lightsaber battles are great . . . but the response times going from controller to on-screen action seems slow . . . and the characters are slow. Jedi Academy or Jedi Power Battles this game is not!

Second, you do not control the camera movement. It simply follows whichever character you are controlling at the moment. This is a bad design decision. There are times where you cannot see who is shooting at you, nor can you see all of the power-ups and collectible items that are spread out on each level.

Third, since you can choose which character to play at any given time (based on the ones in your party at that moment), any of them that carry blasters instead of lightsabers are almost useless. Since there is no aiming reticule or auto-aim, you have to keep shooting in the general direction of wherever you are trying for and hope to score a hit, adjusting your firing as you go. Weak.

So far, the most challenging level has been the pod race. I played it for almost an hour before winning, the controls of the pod being unforgiving at best. Other levels I have breezed through with nary a problem.

Next stop: ""Attack of the Clones"".

Edit: I really have to drink more coffee before posting . . . there''s no excuse for the second edit . . .

I wonder if their third part covering the last movie is spoilerific at all?

Certis, half that movie is spoiled if you watch the original trilogy.

I''ve been playing it for a couple of days and I can tell you it''s really fun. Unfortunately the game can probably be beaten in one seating. I beat episode 1 and 2 in about 2 hours and i started episode 3. I''ve been turning away and killing the audio during the cutscenes for episode 3. I don''t want to have the details spoiled. I mean, we all know what''s gonna happen in episode 3 already, but we don''t exactly know what happened during that time.

Wow! That''s freakin'' quick.

I''m telling you, the pod race was really getting to me . . . it''s a case of seeing a ""death"" cutscene over and over that was starting to annoy me.

And for some reason, my 19 month old would screech at the top of his lungs every time the Tusken Raiders would take pot-shots at my pod. Of course, he would likewise freak-out whenever I was facing Darth Maul. Nothing like trying to get through a level with that kind of cheerleading going on beside you.

One of the funniest things I''ve noticed happens between the good and evil characters while hanging out in between levels at Dexter''s Diner. There''s a constantly running battle taking place; Maul was being chased by Padme and all of the other good-aligned characters. Using Obi-Wan, I walked over and started a lightsaber duel with him, while everyone else was shooting or hacking away at him. When I killed him I literally sliced him in half, just like Obi-Wan did in the movie. Funny stuff, watching all of them chase him around.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is actually pretty good. If you've played the 2 titles, there are some differences- graphics look simple but cool, music is as expected. All characters are playable on all levels, but I don't know how well you can do if one of your characters is Young Boba Fett or Anakin- no weapons, but they can crawl into the little doorways that are too small for (ironically) almost the same height other Lego characters.

For the 360, some interesting achievements were added. My favorite is the "Did I Break Your Concentration?" with Mace Windu..

Undecided.
Crossover: Destroy Anakin with Vader.

Did I Break your Concentration?
Revenge: Destroy The Emperor with Mace Windu.

Nobody Expects...
Revenge: Destroy The Emperor with Kit Fisto.

Hands Off!
Revenge: Destroy Anakin with Dooku.

Strike me down
Revenge: Destroy Darth Vader with Obi-Wan.

I played "Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga" yesterday on the Wii. I have had no prior lego game experience. Also note that I played somewhat near an hour and finished the pod-race. So that's not pretty far in I would think.

I really liked the fact that you can't really die, although I did see my health drop to 0 a lot. This game is a lot harder then I would think. It's just because the penalty of death are near to none-existence that it is playable. Or maybe I just need to learn the controls a bit more.

The Wiimote light-saber action is a bit like Zelda. You swing a bit, and so does you little lego Obi Wan. Using the force was a bit limiting, you could make some bushes spill out some lego's, build some things or just push enemies with it.

My girlfriend liked the game. It is simple, fast and very easy (if you ignore the health). Just the kind of casual gaming experience my girlfriend likes. Cooping is always great fun, and it's also great in this game. In all, a very nice game for young and old.

I don't watch, I interact!
