Have you ever played through a game, completed it, but there was still some nagging piece of plotline or story that was left unexplained or ambiguous?

List them out here. I don't have one off the top of my head, but I'd love to hear yours!

Final Fantasy 7... Odd as hell, I have some understanding of the ending, yet it was cut short, that it feel like they were not sure how to end it, so they decided to leave it up to the player''s imagination! However, It could be a good thing...

[edit] ...also what in the world happen in Freespace2. I mean, are they telling me that the only way to stop the war is to be submitted to the ultimate end. Death! I replayed the final mission many times, and anyway I try to change my attack strategy, It would never change... Just like real life,... two things are certain, death and taxes. One time, I said screw the battle I''m going for the subspace gate... in the end, death it is. Very odd if you ask me!

Damn...I thought I had won Freespace 2, but for the life of me, I can''t remember how that damn game ended! Could you throw up (figuratively, of course) a few more details as how it ended, Nei?

And to answer your question, Wineglass, the last ending that I absolutely hated due to unanswered questions is Baldur''s Gate: Dark Alliance. I HATE games that end with a question mark to supposedly be answered in the sequel!

The ending of X-Wing: Alliance , because they finish the Rebellion''s plotline, but cut the other plots off at the end, and STOPPED MAKING THE X-WING/TIE FIGHTER SERIES.

It''s too bad because that was one of the last decent Star Wars games... before the dark times, before the prequels....

Oh man, I had forgotten about both the Freespace 2 and XWA stuff. That really blows.

I know this is almost a non-answer, but any NES game ever made. Whatever backstory they had, the ending never made sense, ever.

I want an intraquel for Fallout. (flesh out the story between 1 & 2)

The hero goes off into the sunset at the end of part one. He''s dead with vague details at the beginning of part two.

A prequel regarding the formation of the Brotherhood of Steel would be cool too.

I don''t really recall the exact ending... The end mission is this, Its a final fight between the two races... with an added twist is that there will be a super nova explosion. Why exactly it was done, I'm not so sure, it had something to do with a big alien ship... but one thing I''m sure of is that everyone dies! sigh...

I always wondered whatever happened to the ninja in Final Fantasy 3. What was the whole deal with him.

And I mentioned it before, in Ultima VI, I found a castle in a lost part of the ocean, where there was a boy who was raised by a cyclops couple who apparently acted as fathers. But I never knew the whole story, I was in a hurry to deliver something else...

I liked the ending of Half-Life where you found out Gordon was really a ghost the whole time.

Anachronox. I hope Tom Hall manages to make a sequel some day, so I get to find out what happens next.

Altho... I do remember Tom Hall saying he had planned a three game story arc... oh no...!

Actually the game is designed to crash your hard drive. It''s a risky path for a game to take, but gets high points for originality.
