This thing is getting pretty good reviews and can be had for only $30 (this week only, I think).

I picked up my copy yesterday but I went out last night and so it isn't open yet. Has anyone played it? Comments?

Have the PC version, and it''s pretty intense. I prefer it to CoD and MoH, much tougher as there''s no reticle when firing from the hip. It seems to simulate what instinctive shooting is like, which is great because that''s what most firefights were and are.

The AI is a bit wonky at times but overall I love it. Play with headphones and you''ll rediscover some serious pucker factor when those 42''s open up on you...

Have a good one.

I was waiting for the PC version myself. Wasnt going to pick it up unless I noticed a bunch of people here playing it. So far, theres been little chatter about it, despite all the high reviews I''ve read.

You can turn one on in the options.

The weapons are bugging me a bit because there is a great deal of sway as well as a very wide cone of fire. I didn''t realize that before they landed, the Airborne bored out their rifle barrels a couple of tenths and then had a few snorts of Ol'' Granddad.

Hey, Ol'' Granddad is probably what kept them going!

The fact of the matter is, there IS a huge amount of sway when you''re firing on the move, or even in the prone. If you''re even a bit out of breath you''re all over the place, and I guess they''re trying to simulate that.

It''s not a railroad shooter like the other ones, IMHO. They really want you to slow down and think your next move, which is a nice approach.

And the mean point of impact on any weapon can be surprisingly high, especially if you''re referring to that bullet-hose, the Thompson SMG. I fired both the Thompson and the MP40 in Vegas, and the MP40 was slower but more accurate on my groupings. And it''s just so badass.

My 2 cents worth.

Yep, good points. Trying to shoot after running for even a hundred meters can make a poor marksman out of a great one.

I have it on Xbox. I''m still going through the training missions. I die a lot.

I wanted it for X-Box, but was overruled by Swampy Jr.
We now have it for the PC.

I thought BiA was okay but the loading times really killed it for me. Turn a corner, machine gun nest mows you down instantly, go to reload, wait about a minute, and repeat. I never made it to the later game (Chapter 7 was as far as I got) but I was impressed with the early game until it became the same old tactics over and over. I might pick it up again at a later date but I''m having way too much fun with Ghost Recon 2 right now.

I have to admit I''m a bit tired of the whole ""we''re all brothers in war"" theme. I loved the BoB series, but man are they milking it.

Now if they remade Operation Flashpoint...

Oh man.. its out for PC already? where have I been.. sheesh. For some reason thought it was few more weeks.

As for OFP.. there''s an OFP 2 in the works. There''s little to no info available about it yet, but I believe it''s going to be a Vietnam era game.

Bah! It''s Cold War era Europe or nothing! With bad Czech voiceovers to boot...

Just kidding. I just hope they do a good job.

I have the Xbox Version and basically bought it because of reviews, friends recommendations and an abbundance of trade in credit at Gamerush.

I just can''t do FPS on the Xbox. Sounds pretty sweet for PC though. Is multiplayer just free for all, or is there actual team vs team? That seems really weird, considering the realism you''re describing in the single player.

This isn''t a FPS, it is a puzzle game. I call it a puzzle game because the levels are designed to have a particular way to overcome obstacles. You can shoot all day at a guy on an MG, but there is a magic wall that protects him from fire that isn''t on a flank. You must use the suppress and fire method, no other solutions are acceptable. Even with a sniper rifle, an enemy''s forehead sticking up over the fence is invulnerable until he decides to pop up completely. Every soldier takes two hits to kill with rifle shots, no matter that you shot him in the face with a .30-06 round. A couple of times I got up ahead of where I was supposed to be, and it spawned enemies right behind me - in one case at a wall out in a field where I had just cleared and was advancing from! You cannot jump anything you are not supposed to jump, even a broken fence that my four-year-old could step over.

You learn your way through a level by experience, which is why the long load times and infrequent save points are all the more aggravating. I wouldn''t recommend this game if you are expecting something like MoHAA or Call of Duty. If you liked Full Spectrum Warrior better than those, then go ahead.

SuperT, you''re not inspiring me to take the wrapper off the game... I picked it up because it was so cheap (compared to full price, anyway) but I''ve still got the receipt... /sigh

It''s a good game Grumpicus but Supertanker really explains the gameplay perfectly. The early part of the game I played was extremely linear and the invisible wall effect is quite annoying. There were times I''d toss a grenade perfectly into a machine gun nest and the bad guys would still be alive when it went off. If you don''t flank them you can''t kill them. And like Supertanker mentions, it''s really a game of trial & error trying to figure out what strategy will get you to the next section of combat and staring at the Loading screen a lot when you die.

I''d say for $30 it''s a good buy but it isn''t a traditional FPS and you can''t play it like one.
