Okay, you guys have invaded a few threads already with this. I figured it deserved a home of its own. Please take a moment to brag about your home A/V equipment. Feel free to brag about your PC gaming setup if you take more pride in that.

For what? Mahjongg?

I kid because I love. I have one of those, too. But I mainly use it and the AirPort base station so my wife can surf and watch TV and be properly pacified when I go upstairs to play EQ over TeamSpeak or something equally as dorky.

Oooh! I''m currently deciding on whether to buy a Radeon 9800 Pro or a GeForce 5900 Ultra.

Wish I could get one from the US without having to pay tax on it though as they retail here for around £400 which works out around $650!!!!

Well, I am not sure what everyone''s opinion around here is but for the money, the 9800 Pro is the obvious choice. Cost less and winning alot of benchmarks over the 5900 Ultra. You can''t go wrong with either but since you mentioned money I just thought I would give my opinion on the ""smart"" choice. This beast is an amazing card.

I like my console setup better than my PC setup right now. I think that might change if I even get a comfortable computer chair. But I''ve got a small living room so I can get some quality noise filling that space when I play the Cube. I''ve got the cube attached to a 32"" Pioneer TV (no flatscreen or HDTV yet) with component cables. Yes, I had to order them from Nintendo. I suspect the big N wants to keep close track of all the people in the world who are zealous enough to actually buy them. For sound I picked up a Pioneer amp that offers DTS, Dobly Digital 5.1 (I know...practically old school now), and ProLogic II. That runs out to two full-size front and two full-size rear speakers and a center channel. I don''t have a sub for a couple reasons. First of all, it would be a bit overkill in the size room I''m in. Second, I live in a duplex, and understand the value of keeping good neighbor relations. That''s pretty much it. I''ve also got the DVD player and DirecTV, but those don''t have much to do with gaming. Oh, and a Wavebird, of course.

Bah, I''ve got my sh*tty p900 here with our twelve year old 50cm. TV connected to the Xbox a bit further down the wall. I''m up for a new rig later this year though, that''s gonna be €2600 well spent

My setup is a lot like Sway''s. 27"" Wega. Toshiba DVD w/ component hook-up and optical sound to Sony 5.1 receiver. 2 rears, 2 fronts, center channel AND a sub.

Also have my Tivo, Gamecube and Xbox. Will be switching the Xbox to component and optical this weekend and moving the Toshiba to the bedroom. No DirecTV because I''m in an apartment, stuck with Comcast.

I''d brag about my PC if:

1) it was new
2) there wasn''t such a significant delay in getting newly released components from overseas

As it stands, I bought my PC a year ago and at that time it was pretty high-end compared to the stuff available in my country. Bragging about that now will only make you guys laugh at me (and besides, I''m a humble guy )

I''m sorta saving up to get a nice A/V setup, so if you guys wait like six months or something I can come back and brag!

Damn... looks like I just bragged about how crap my stuff is...

Yeah, I collected most of my equipment when I lived in an apartment. Now that I''ve got a house, I''m suddenly seeing my funds diverted into unexpected outlets, such as caulk, a dehumidifier, mulch, etc.

My pc gaming machine is a,

Barton 2500
Abit NF7-S mobo
512 Kingston HyperX pc 3500 ram
Geforce 4 4200 - though I''m looking for excuses to bump this up to a ATI 9800 pro.
Logitech Z560 speakers - These kick ass for anyone looking for good speakers but unable to afford Klipsch. 400 watts, 4 satelites and a nice sub.

For console gaming, which includes an Xbox and a GCN, I have a spare bedroom setup with a comfy old couch a 27"" Wega, a low end Denon reciever that supports all ths goodies and mixed speakers. Works out pretty good in a smaller bedroom.

I''ve got all three consoles, and with my new 32"" wega tv and stereo I will have a pretty decent setup. I also have like 5 or so computers doing various things, and I plan to build another as soon as I can figure out something for it to do 3 that are 1ghz+ and 2 about 500mhz

I''m staying near Cape Town, Koesj. Problem is that quality electronics equipment in South Africa costs about an arm and a leg (sorry if I sound like whining folks!), and that''s if you can actually get it. At least it''s better than the rest of Africa (cf Liberia)

Oh, and Namibia is a separate country

Yeah, to be honest those three words have already sold me. I''ve just been holding out hoping they release a new card so the prices will drop a bit first.

Plus I want to get another stick of ram in my computer, so I''ll probably end up waiting to see how things look on my current card before I do anything crazy.

My dream has always been to have enough ram to install everything to a Ramdrive. I guess it''d be fast, probably, just the coolness of no level load times. Then I could get it printed on a shirt and chicks will sleep with me. ""I''ve got my stuff on a ramdrive!"".

You know, I may not be attracting ""chicks"" in the strictest sense of the word with that shirt so much as ""guys in dresses"". Nevermind.

I just read an article in Maximum PC (first time I''d read the mag...picked it up for the cover article). Has anyone else read this? It was an article on half-life and how it should run on the current cards out there. If the article has any validity, I don''t know that I would see much difference between my GeForce 4 and an ATI solution. I''m definitely gonna pick up another 512 of RAM, but I''m thinking I may wait and see performance before I jump on another card.

I picked up a 512MB stick of Kingston PC2700 the other day at Best Buy for $30 after rebate. It was an open item, but even if it wasn''t it would have been at most $50 after rebate, so you may want to check it out if you want a bit more ram.

I have way to much crap...the wife complains daily.

I build all my own pc''s even the ones I use at work

My home office machine is
P4 3.2ghz 800fsb
1 GB Corsair PC3200
Abit IC 7 Motherboard
Radeon 9700 Pro All In Wonder
Radeon 7500 PCI
Audigy 2
2 Seagate 10K U320 SCSI Harddrives
2 Seagate SATA 7200 160gb Hard Drives
Sony DRU10A DVD Burner
Lite On 52x CDRW
Connected to this I have 2 Samsung 172T LCD''s as my left and right monitors and a Sony SDM-V72WB LCD as my main center screen.

My mini LAN gaming bench has 3 machines..
P4 2.4c@3.0ghz, an AMD XP 2600+, a Shuttle SN41G2 running a Athlon 2500+ all these machines have Radeon 9700 Pro''s, Audigy 2''s with 1 GB of Ram and Western Digital 120GB 8mb Cache Hard Drives.. Connected to 19"" Sony Monitors (Dell P992''s) Thinking of replacing the 120''s with 36gb Raptors since they usually only house 4-5 games at a time max.

Wife currently in her office has a Shuttle SN41G2 with a 2500+ in there 512mb of Ram and a Radeon 8500DV All in wonder. Hooked to a Sony SDM-V72W LCD.. but she hates it and loves her Ipod so much she wants a mac.. so she''s getting a G5 when they finally are released. She''s so computer illeterate that a Mac might be just the thing she needs.. If anything maybe I can get out of typing her papers for her all the time.

At work I run a Dual AMD 2400+ system with 1gb of Ram and a Radeon 9700 Pro.. its pretty sweet actually runs games really well.. I was never a huge AMD fan but lately you can''t beat the price for the performance. I got a Raptor in there and a bunch of 80gb IBM''s for lots of storage..

I got 2 Dell PowerEdge 400SC''s P4 2.4 with 1gb of ram running all my email, web, and domain crap.. about 1 terabyte of storage between them for all my tv shows and mp3 etc...

I stream that around the house through an Turtle Beach Audiotron which works ok..as soon as my reciever and speakers are once again installed.

Downstairs living room will at some point have a Samsung 30"" Widescreen HDTV.. the one arrived broken but the new one finally arrives tommorow! yeah! I got a Samsung Home Theater in a box for that which was a great deal at $250 from amazon. Looks really nice and fits the living room perfectly. (Im never there so its fine with me)

Basement will eventually become the movie room again (new home) My 106"" Da-Lite CinemaVision Screen is in pieces awaiting installation at some point. I have a year old 800X600 Dell DLP projector that was ceiling mounted and while fine for DVD''s isnt the greatest for Xbox and PC gaming so Im going to move to a 1024X768 DLP soon. Probably a NEC they seem the best for the $$

Some Sony DTS/5.1 reciever.. no clue on the model number..Polk surround sound speakers and subs and a Pioneer Elite DVD player.. not much as all I do is watch movies.. I have those crappy High Def Comcast Cable boxes but there is so little to watch its not even funny... mostly I just watch football and sports.. Sopranos etc..

DirectTV is on my sh*t list.. so I''ll never use them again. I was a 5+ year customer but never again.

I have just about every half decent PDA/Cell Phone gadget there is..

Sony Clie NX70V, Dell Axim, Sidekick (color and greyscale), 3 Ipods, Numerous Flash based MP3 players, Xbox, Gamecube, PS2, GBA (afterburner mod not that new crap) Theres like a whole cabinet drawer devoted to old discarded pda''s I use them for a few months then discard them.. They are never good enough. Though the new Clamshell Clie''s look promising.

I dusted off my Dreamcast yesterday just to play some Last Blade 2.. woot! I miss my NeoGeo system.. at one point I had 30+ Carts..sold it sadly for some bizzare reason on egay for $8000. I''m still kicking myself over that one. I blame the wife.

Aint nothing new about the world order..it's been playing since the day they put George Washington on a quarter
