WoW: STAY AWAY FROM IF & OGRIMMAR post patch!

Just posting this because I wish someone had warned me. I was playing fine until I ventured into IF, now I am unable to play. Game crashes like mad. The official forums are exploding with others complaining about the exact same problems (so far no response from Bliz), but so far it seems limited to the big cities with AH's.
I was able to resolve my client issues with a reboot of my PC( hadn''t restarted since the upgrade). Working fine again.
Not me. Many, many reboots changed nothing.
I was at the AH in Orgrimmar earlier on Blackhand and it was no worse than usual. Maybe it''s an IF only thing?

unpro, have you already tried knocking your video settings down as low as you can?
oddly enough, on my wife''s PC, I never see lag in IF, and she''s on an old GeForce Ti4000, I think. 64 Megs, man! I''ve got a radeon 9800Pro, and constantly have lag in IF, Stormwind, even(occasionally) instances when I''m alone in them.
I''m considering lowering my video settings until I notice they don''t look as good, then raise them back that last notch.

Bleh, this bug got me too. I can log in my alt in SW fine, but when I log in my main, who is in IF the game freezes. Did anyone find a solution?
clean out your temp folders and interface folder.. log in
once your in reset your screen resolution and various effects..
log out
redownload or update your UI addons
log back in
problem solved.

Thanks for the info GG. Removing the interface folder worked. Sigh, what a mess this has created. It''ll take me another hour to put all my addons back in and configuring them back to they way I had it.

yes relying on 3rd party UI enhancments kinda bites after patch day..
Basically the #1 reason I''ve stuck with vanilla Cosmos as keeping that one UI update is enough headaches for me..
I fear that I''ll try all sorts of other nifty UI updates and get hooked and then have a miserable time keeping them all in order.
One hopes that Blizzard eventually incorporates all the more useful UI enhancments into their core UI.

I was in Orgrimmar last night and didn''t see a problem, but I didn''t use the AH which some people were complaining about in chat.
I use a ton of addons (~12mb) and I had no problems so far. Using that tool that Richy posted in the other thread seemed to work for a few addons but most of mine have already updated.

I''ve had no problems in IF of which to speak. A full party I was in last night was booted from the server. It took about fifteen minutes for everyone to be able to get back in.

I got a crash that seemed to be caused by trying to use some Cosmos features with the new version, but after I disabled them things seemed to work fine, inside Ironforge and out.

It will happen. I said the heck with cosmos this morning and went back to gypsy + (new for me)flexbar. I am never going back to Cosmos now.

Gypsy + flexbar + bag status meters is a great combination for me.
Plus addin stand-alone map notes if you need them.
The best ""bang for buck"" package I''ve found is Gypsy plus all of Telo''s mods. Then get rid of Telo''s extra bottom bar mod (which conflicts with Gypsy). Golden.

ModReversion is my new best friend. It re-tags all your mods to work with the new version of WoW so you don''t have to wipe your directory. Unfortunately, I lost a lot of my data (cosmos settings, map notes, gatherer info, etc), but at least I didn''t have to re-add everything.

Btw, I''m still crashing several times a session (if not more). Sometimes back to log-in screen. Occasionally CTD. Once a warm boot!
Anyway, AMD 2800+, 1 gig ram, Nvidia FX5700+, Live

I didn''t make it into Orgimmar last night after patching but did run into some minor looting problems. Twice I got a ""you don''t have permission to loot"" message on my kills and wasn''t able to loot them. Not a huge deal but had that happened with a high-level boss, I would''ve been pissed.

I went to the readme to find out what all this stuff does. But it didn''t. Is there a place? What part is really useful? 50%, 75%,
100%.
I take it it''s easy to uninstall Cosmos. From reading the readme of this one it seem''s pretty darn easy. I''ve like Cosmos, but I have some unsubstantial feeling''s it''s causing some of my crashing problems, so I''m willing to give something else a try. (will I loose my mapnotes tho''?)

Do you mean you checked out the full readme linked from the page? If so, just scroll down. I recognize most of the text there as actually being cut-and-pasted from the original authors'' descriptions.
The way to uninstall any UI mod is to delete it from the Interfaces/AddOns folder. The trick with Cosmos is that is also uses cosmos.exe so you have to delete that, too. (Technically, you don''t have to delete it, just stop using it, but if you''re going to stop using it, you might as well delete it.)
I''m pretty sure that if you leave the MapNotes folder in place and just unzip this over the top of it, your notes should stay.
