Resident Evil 4

Ok, my friend brought up a good point... who got under Capcom's desk to get this on GC first? I mean, seriously... this isn't even nintendo's normal stuff... usually nintendo gets games that are kid friendly, and this is far from it. So, what gives? Anyone know?

AFAICR, Resident Evil is, always has been, GC first. Nintendo doesn''t have all that many ""adult"" titles, but this series is one of the centerpieces of that group. Nintendo losing ""firsties"" on that would be like Microsoft allowing ""Halo 3"" to debut on the PS3. Never going to happen.

Yea, i know what you mean, however, if you think about it, the originals were on the PS original - now... they''re on GC...... of course... FF switched at one point from nintendo to PS... hmm...
Not to mention that Nintendo''s ""exclusive"" deal isn''t exclusive anymore.
RE 4 will be coming onto the PS2 after a while, along with all the other RE games.

RE0 and RE:Remake won''t be coming out on the PS2. RE4 has been announced in Japan for the PS2, not the U.S. I''m not sure how well the PS2 can handle the port. 9 to 10 months is a good exclusive.

if you look on gamefaqs, its due to be released in japan/Europe/US Q4 of 2005 for the ps2
For the game that was supposed to be the one that helps Nintendo break free of their ""kiddie"" stigma, that''s a major thing. Now a lot of people who were considering buying the lower-priced GC to get RE 4 just sit back and say ""forget that, I can wait for the PS2 version."" And there will probably be more features added anyway.
Same thing happened with Silent Hill 2. The XBox version was the latest to come out (as far as I can recall) and it is considered by all to be the most ""complete"" version of SH2.

Not that I''d be interested in playing the game on PS2, but what kind of value is behind that information? Right now it may not have a US or PAL release date, but do you seriously think Capcom will waste the money and not release it in the other markets? I''m talking about Cap-""The 5 titles are definitely GC exclusive""-com. About Cap-""There won''t be ports of Viewtiful Joe""-com. About Cap-""RE4 will not be released on any other platform""-com. About Cap-""There will be no Killer 7 port""-com. About Cap-""Killer 7 for PS2 will be released in Japan only""-com. Despite the game apparently also set for a PAL release now. (Which kind of hints at an US version as well.)

There''s absolutely no way the PS2 will handle RE4 without taking a graphical hit, RE4 really grinds the ''Cube down to the metal. It''s even more impressive than 90% of anything I''ve seen on the Xbox.
Not to say it won''t be good, but if you want to play it in all it''s graphical beauty, dropping $50 for a used Cube is the best way to go.

I think it will come out on the PS2 it just isn''t a sure bet.
Viewtiful Joe 1&2 sold poorly on the PS2 and I don''t think RE4 will sell well on the platform, outside of Japan. By the time they get it out it will be up against the big dogs that Sony has for the fall and I think a 9-10 month old port might not have the same effect as it does on the GC.

Unrelated, sort of. Today''s VG Catz comic is pretty damn funny.
