Anybody watching it tonight? Honestly, this show is the sh*t. You sci-fi fellas really ought to give it a shot.

Just finished re-watched the mini on DVD. Definately is the best space sci-fi on TV and perhaps the best since Farscape and Deep Space Nine. Voyager, Stargate, Enterpri$e all are pathetic foot fungi by comparison.

I saw pt.1 of the miniseries a few days ago. Hadn''t seen it before. Loved it. Good salve for the gaping wound left by the loss of Firefly. I''m going to watch the miniseries pts. 1&2 and the series premiere ""marathon"" on Sunday. Screw football.

Is the mini movie dvd set worth picking up? I haven''t really kept up with the series that much. I had this and Firefly in my hand and ended up going with playmakers. . . . Damn the power of the women.

I''d say yes, but only if you intend to watch the series, as well. The mini would be frustrating if it had to stand alone, but as a setup for the series, it''s great.

I just finished watching the movie from last year and I have TIVO set to record the show. I have never seen the orignal show, but I like the idea of them trying to find earth. I just wish that shows like this would take a que from Anime and set out a story arc and how many shows that it will take to complete. Say that the show will last three seasons and at the end, they''ll find earth. If they want to do a spin off, that''s cool.

I hate it when they just let shows go on for years with no end in sight. By mapping out the story, I think shows would be better.

For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I learned that, I gave Jesus a chance. ~Ron Shelton, Bull Durham, 1988

I had my doubts about this series at first but six episodes in I have really enjoyed it. While I still think they use sex to sell the show in some parts the good writing, great cast and realistic feel of the show have won me over. This is the first Sci-Fi series since Next Generation that I have really enjoyed.

And yes I think that Firefly is overrated

I thought the first episode in the series was fantastic. It really did a great job picking up where the Mini series left off.

Edit: Do your self a favor, if you intend to watch the series watch the Mini Series first or you will be so lost!

I would love to see the remake of Galactica! When I was a kid, original series was absolutely mind-blowing experience for me. I read somewhere that Starbuck is a woman now. I really wonder how that worked out...

As a fan of the original from when I was a kid I think it worked out ok. They changed a bunch of the casting up but it worked for me.

Originally, if I remember right, it was supposed to re-run tonight after a marathon airing of the mini-series, but that''s been bumped thanks to NBC Universal''s tsunami telethon.

Edit: And if there was one thing that I thought the show needed, it was someone (Adama, Roslin, somebody) at the end saying: ""Fleeing the Cylon tyranny, the last battlestar, Galactica, leads a rag-tag fugitive fleet on a lonely quest; a shining planet called Earth.""

Then you can cue up those drums the musical director seems obsessed with.

Sci-Fi is a whole-ly owned subsidiary of NBC Univesal, and every channel it owns will air it. Not to drag this into off-topicness, but this strikes me as a bit of ""too little, too late"" in terms of the relief effort; anyone who has donated already probably won''t do so again.

I''m glad to hear that some of you other guys enjoyed it. With the exception of an episode (in my mind, at least), this series has been the (second?) most enjoyable thing on TV in recent memory.

Anyone watch the half hour ""behind the scenes"" special? Several interesting themes on it, including how they ""filmed"" the spaceflight scenes, the fact that the actors portraying Cylons had no more idea than anyone else who/what their guiding force was and that the original Apollo was going to have a part on the series as a terrorist. Very well done, I thought.

I didn''t catch the mini series, but being a big fan of the original, I just added it to the top of my netflix queue so I can see what the hell y''all are talkin'' about. And no, Firefly is not overrated.

Was it just me, or did it look like in ""Water"" (the 2nd episode) that they were trying to set up something between Kara and Gaius? Guess imaginery Cylon women only get you going for so long...

Well, after a true-geek fest day today, i am up to speed with this show. It only took 6 hours of flipping between below average football and the mini-series/episodes and I am all caught up. Not only that, but I am hopeful again for a science fiction show...not since TNG has this been possible!

If you saw the preview, then you know that Cylon women do not tolerate that crap and show up to lay down the law. Plus if you remember the original series Gauis has a very special role with the Cylons and he is not going near human women.

Did they explain the reason why there was 33 minutes between attacks? I was expecting an explanation or some kind of mystical theory but was dissapointed. Did I miss it??

Outstanding. This bodes well for such a promising show; I think Star Trek''s various incarnations were increasingly weakened by the writers'' reliance on technobabble.

I started my own blog so when I feel the need to make an ass out of myself, I won't have as far to go.

Wow. It''s stupefying how well Ron Moore has evolved as a SF TV writer. Some of his ST scripts were good, but this show is simply outstanding. Bra-(f**king)-vo.

I mean, I suppose I could''ve come up with a sufficiently important-sounding bit of technobabble that would''ve made sense (you see, the Cylon double-talk sensors tracking the Olympic Carrier''s nonsense drive signature needed 15 minutes to relay the made-up data wave through the pretend continuum, then the Cylon navigational hyper silly system needed another 10 minutes to recalculate the flux capacitor, etc.) but what would that have really added to the drama?

Then you''d turn into your evil twin, Brannon Braga, and this would be Star Wreck all over again.
