Headset with Mic

Intern

I'm looking for the best Headset with Mic available for gaming. I've tried the Plantronics DSP 500 and the sound quality is really weak.

I saw the Logitech 300, picked it up, then I read some reviews on it and I think I'll return it.

Some one ponit me to the best one I can buy.

Thanks in advance.

These look okay: SENNHEISER PC155

I don''t want to regret the purchase.

There are a lot of people who swear by Sennheiser stuff.

I don''t know of them first-hand. I actually use 5.1 headphones and I have the headset that came with UT2k4 wrapped around my neck, with the mic turned up towards my mouth. I''m sure it looks idiotic, but it works damn well and it still lets me get my positional sound and use teamspeak at the same time.

Thin_J uses the same method as me. I haven''t been able to find a good headset/mic packaged combo that fits me well. I guess my ears are too big, but if headphones put any pressure on them at all, it feels like I''m ripping my ears off after an hour of gaming. So it''s some Sony MDR-160''s over the ears, and a cheap labtec set around my neck. When I can afford it, I''ll defenitely be looking for some 5.1 headphones.

I wondered who it was I stole the method from

Someone on here posted that they did that before, and after much deliberation and searching I decided to use your technique instead of buying anything else. It''s worked wonderfully, and I never would have thought to do it had you (I assume it was you) not said anything on the boards about it. You saved me mucho cash in the process

Although not as nice as the Sennheiser units, I bought the Zalman 5.1 headphones (well they aren''t REALLY 5.1. More like 5 with simulated sub) and the microphone that you can attach to it. Sounds good overall and the mic is actually far better than the Plantronics headset I had.

There''s a microphone you can attach to it?

CURSE YOU! Those are the headphones I have. Why oh why couldn''t I find anything about this supposed microphone?

*Edit*
My question refers to the time when I bought the headphones, which was back in August. The answer is obvious enough, becasue the mic wasn''t listed on Zalman''s website at the time I bought mine. It certainly is now. I may order one. 13 bucks with free 2nd day from ZipZoomFly?

Sold.

If you''re going to use a mic seperate from your headphones, or a mic and speakers, why not just use a mic? Even the best ones, around 80 bucks aren''t as expensive as some of the really high end headsets, and you''ll get better voice quality from them. Sure the stand takes up much needed desk geography, but I find that an actual mic is a better solution than a headset.

I don''t know, the mic on my headset is far better than the comparably priced desktop mic I have on my wife''s computer. That being said, whatever floats your boat.

The mic isn''t anything special. It''s just a mic with a clip so you can attach it to the 5.1''s cord. You could get any other mic that suits your purpose. You could even get a boom mic and tape/glue it to the headset and tie the cables together.

Get the Sennheiser. Been using mine for over a year and love them. Durable and have survived a year with a wife and two small kids.

Another vote for the Sennheiser. Have had mine about a month b/c the desk mic wasn''t cutting it for TeamSpeak.
