Nintendo Customer Service: Wow

Ok...Just needed to praise Nintendo a bit here:
As mentioned previously, the wife got me the Nintendo DS for Christmas. After playing with it for a bit, I realized that there was a "dead pixel" on the upper lcd screen. We tried to return it to the store, but everywhere we go they are sold out.
Today I called Nintendo, and they are sending me a new unit as an "advance replacement". Once I get it, I use the packaging to return the bad one to them, all shipping paid.
I should have the new one in a few days.
Pretty awesome, I have to say...

Awesome Fanatka, I''ve heard many similar reports on this. How bad was the dead pixel? I have two (one for my son) and I examined both pretty closely. Is it more apparent on dark menus, etc?

Nintendo is very well known for having great customer service. Unline evil Sony. I wish EA on them!

I have to give Kudos to MS as well. Last night I had a problem with Live, and while Tier 1 wasn''t helpful, the manager of Tier 2 was excellent.

It''s noticeable enough for my wife to say ""Hey...what''s that?"" when she saw the screen. On an all-black screen, it''s the only pixel that''s red. It''s annoying because as you move around in Mario 64, for example, it''s the only part of the screen that doesn''t move...kind of removes the immersion a bit.

Good for Nintendo. This story may have sold a DS to me if they would start putting out some games.

I can second their great customer service.
I had a gamecube go out on me.
Called them up and they said if I wanted to I could just drive up to the store in redmond and have it replaced.
Which I did. Easiest thing I''ve ever done, no receipt or anything, just gave them my name and they gave me a new gamecube.
They didn''t even ask how old it was or when I bought it or anything.

This is good to hear because I was beggining to think Japanese based companies were not really willing to support there products after many a dealing with Sony. Sony is just evil ..
As for MS they replaced by 2 1/2 year old gen 1 Xbox for free.

As I understand it...they run your serial number and if it comes up as a known defective then they still replace it.

Don''t know about that. My GBA didn''t have a serial number and they still replaced it.

lol, i have one of the GBA SP that had a sticker on the bottom... also, on other posts i go on about how much I love nintendo''s customer service, if you want to know more, ask, I''m not going to retype it all. However, I can say this, hands down, nintendo has the best customer service, and they want the loyalty of their fans, b/c they know that a lot of their money comes from people who started on the old 8 bit, and now today, own a GC b/c of it.
Can''t say a lot about Nintendo''s customer service. I have a NES, SNES, GBA, N64 and a GC - and all of them are still working like on the day I got them.
Hmm. I too have a dead pixel on my DS (it''s white) but it''s really not that big a deal to me. On a black screen, if I''m paying attention, I can see it, but if I''m in a game, I really don''t notice it. I had assumed that the trouble of replacing it would outweigh my need to actually have it replaced.
But, reading this, maybe I should consider exchanging it.
