Coming up for air: Hopelessly addicted to WoW...

Whelp, congrats gang, you've led another lamb to slaughter.

I had never played a MMORPG before this one, and had honestly felt like I never would. They didn't seem like my bag.

But based purely on the enthusiasm from this forum (and Gamespot's review, I guess), I leapt in day before yesterday and have done little else since. I haven't WANTED to do anything since. Hell, I DREAMED about WoW last night. This is a wonderful game. Everything else can vacate my HD for a while, I'm hooked.

So, I guess this is to say Thanks! (my girlfriend says Thanks, too, but there is a completely different tone to her voice)

WoW grew on me like few other games ever did.
It is professionally coded, designed, drawn, voiced, gameplay-tuned from people who actually know how make games instead of crunching out crude spreadsheets with input and 3D graphics.

Playing WoW lifts up the spirit.
A rare thing.

Stories like these are why I stay far, far away from the siren song of WoW.

I might need an intervention there Minase, talk me down. The pull of the WoW is strong.

Hi ... My name is Vin, and I am an addict.

My problem is not what game to play (WoW, there is no otha''!!!) but what class to play! They''ve balanced the classes very well. I got my druid up to 46 last night in Zul''Farrak, which has to be the coolest place ever, and a rogue up to 7. I''m trying not to neglect my druid because he''s insane to play, but the rogue is a lot of fun too.

DAMN YOU BLIZZARD for making such a great game!!!!

Wow, I just hit level 11 with my druid, and I look forward to beinh in your position. There is a STRONG pull to try out the horde side, because it look so different and so cool.

Do not deny yourself the fun that is the shaman class. The horde wants you!

Shamans are very much fun to play. Thag just hit level 30 and got his self-rez and air spells. With the totem system, each time you get new ones you have to fit them in and change your tactics for particular types of creatures. It''s a very dynamic class.

You can self rez? Now that''s just not fair.

I feel your pain! I finally broke down and went to bed last night at 2am. I couldn''t fall asleep because I was thinking of all the quests I hadn''t completed in Elwynn. Trying to sleep and debating the merits of whether you moved on to Westfall too soon is indicative of a painful obsession.

As a former non-believer (and mocker) I am absolutely stunned at the grip this game has on me. Now I have to figure out how to stop thinking about this freaking game when I''m not playing it. I have taken to calling my wife Wibblewonk, although I''m fairly certian it''s a name she doesn''t appreciate.

But oh if I only had time for one more quest...one more journey to the south, 200 more XP.........

Not a mistake, an evolution!

I took a break from WoW over the holidays - mostly because I went halfway across the country - and for the day or two after I got back, I was busy doing post-holiday stuff. There was no real urge to play. Much.

Last night, I played for a couple of hours. And then a couple more. And then a little more on top of that. Man, is that a good game. I''ll be taking another breath and heading back in for more.

Mu-hahahhahahahahahahhaha!

Who ever thought retail slaughter could be so much fun?!?

Welcome to the dark side. Enjoy your stay. I imagine you''ll be with us for some time.

Now, if you can just get your girlfriend to play, I think you''ll have another problem solved.

I really like my Troll Shaman, but the wife prefers Alliance, so I''m mostly a Paladin lately.

The thing I really like about the non-Undead Horde side is the story, the background, the ... feel, I guess. It''s all very tribal, communal, shamanistic, which calls to me in a way that the pseudo-Judeo-Christian undercurrent found in all Arthurian/Camelot-style worlds. All the quest, storylines, environments on the Horde side call out to me in a very satisfying way. Rather like Midgard did in DAoC, except done well.

I got Halo 2 for Christmas. The only time I''ve played it has been when taking a break from WoW.

I am hopelessly addicted to WoW after just one weekend, I am already level 17, almost 18, I enjoy the game that much, and I so badly wanted to stay home and play again today all day, but alas, work is neccesary to pay to keep feeding the addiction......

Damn, everyone is getting addicted to this game, including myself. I paid for the six month subscription and I don''t see myself buying any new games in the near future, so not only is it keeping me entertained but I''m saving money in the long run. I did buy Joint Ops:Escalation and I haven''t even installed it yet.

All I do is play WoW...

I knew it would happen...

My wife hates the game with a passion.

Once I hit 60 hopefully I can tear myself away and play some other games for a bit

I have to admit, I''ve been spending the majority of my free time playing WoW. Mike is incredibly tolerant, but even he has his limits. It''s mostly when he wants to use the desktop PC and I''m on it again for hours at a time.

Definitely give it a try. I really like the Trolls and Taurens. Much more fun to play than the Night Elf alt I made an attempt at way back when.

Both can exist in harmony. Played WOW for an hour last night and joined up with other GWJ and TGs for some Escalation fun. All in all, a great night. That said, I think I am going to have to up my WOW account to quarterly or semi-annual.

The scary thing about playing WoW is how quickly the hours fly by. You sit down to play and suddenly you''ve been playing for 6+ hours. That''s how my wife usually gets me off the computer by reminding me that I''ve been sitting in front of it for too long.

Seconded. The Tauren starting area is my favourite by far; very soothing, with rolling plains and big sky. Definitely the best of the bunch.
