Well, it's a slow day....I ran across this link to a Victorian SF/Steampunk/anime film called "Steamboy", due out in Q1/2005:

Looks interesting. That's all I'm sayin'......
"Eat Keel, Hellbug!"

For some reason, I thought this thread was about the adventures of a young Victorian era man playing Tetris.

I hail akira as one of the greatest anime of all time. This better live up to its trailer, otherwise I''ll be ticked. At any rate, b/c I''m a huge fan of miyazaki (i''m sure I butchered that) I''m not like ""OMG THATS AWESOME"" however, your right, it does look interesting, and if it comes here, I''ll see it for sure. But, then again, that''s b/c I''m a relentless anime freak.
For some strange reason it reminds me more of Metropolice(sp). None the less i''m kind of interested in the flick, I''m yet to see Ghost in the Shell 2, damn that thing been on my shelf for 2 days... strange, it''s not like me at all!

GITS2 is rather awful. Great visuals, crap movie.

Sounds like porn fan fiction.

Aye, Metropolis also had that retro sci-fi vibe. Coincidentally, the screenplay for it was also written by Otomo. Certainly looks interesting, even if I''ve come to lean towards Akira not being nearly all it''s made out to be. The movie, that is. The manga is sheer brilliance.
Also, I liked Innocence a whole lot, even though I''ve only seen a rubbish fan-subbed version. It is however a very...Mamoru Oshii movie, so I can understand those not liking it. His appeal isn''t always that broad.

(double-take) According to the sidebar, they''re doing sequels to Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo and XXX, in addition to a film version of Bewitched?
Wow. They''ve truly run out of anything resembling good ideas.
Everything can be debated, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's debatable.

Funny, I just saw GITS2, and I thought it rocked. This looks interesting as well. Different strokes, I guess.

Oh, Ulairi. All fan fiction is pornographic by it''s very nature! You can''t have fan fiction without Mulder and Scully screwing, Harry and Malfoy passionately french kissing, or Kirk and Spock battling to the death. Naked.

I love, love, love Steampunk stuff...thanks for the heads up, I''ll be sure to put this on the radar.
