Need a last minute game Gift for my wife
I know I asked something similar last week for Zelda: The Four Swords but my wife said she wanted something she could play without me around and I'm left looking for a last minute gift idea.
Last night my wive beat Zelda: The Wind Waker for the billionth time and started playing Super Mario Sunshine again, also for the billionth time. I would really like to get her something new that's similar to those titles (cartoony, fun adventure games) for Xmas but I haven't seen anything that I thought she'd play. I've tried Prince of Persia:SoT and Spyro the Dragon but she never liked them. Add in that she's a diehard Nintendo fan, hates RPGs and FPS, and the selection of titles dwindles down to just kiddie Gamecube titles.
So here's my challenge, I need to find a new Gamecube game for the wife with Zelda/Mario style addictive fun adventuring. Anyone have any suggestions for something that might still be available at an EBGames packed with shoppers?

As usual, you ask for a golf ball and Edwin drops a bucket of them on your head.
Star Fox Adventures is definitely a Zelda clone but she might be spoiled by Wind Waker now. I would take a serious look at Beyond Good and Evil, it''s a fantastic game. Looks good, some puzzles, a neat picture taking side game, combat is fun, voice acting is solid, good length and plenty of different things to do.

I''ll also say Beyond Good & Evil. Despite it not being my cup of tea, it''s an excellent platformer. It''s likely right up her alley.
If she''d like a mroe action-based game of that style, I''ll echo Edwin''s suggestion of Metal Arms. Even I had fun with that one, though it''s essentially a shooter with platform elements, and not vice-versa.

Beyond Good & Evil is probably the best suggestion for what you''re looking for. If she doesn''t already have the game, it''s a no-brainer choice.

Paper Mario.
Also, did she play the GC remake of Ocarina of Time? You always should be able to find a copy on Ebay, although maybe it''s too late for x-mas now.

I''d say Paper Mario as well, if you hadn''t stated up front that she hates RPGs. Given that, I''d say Starfox, Sphinx, and/or Beyond Good and Evil.

I''m not sure if it''s available on GameCube but my wife loves all of the Rayman games.

Thank you! Now I too know what to get my s/o for her newly acquired X-mas gift (GC) as a stocking stuffer. I think she finished Wind Waker last night.

Last Rayman game was an utter piece of Gen-X edgy youknowwhat.

If she really hates RPGs, it is a shame she''s missing Paper Mario.
If she likes Mario-themed platforming stuff, she should try the Mario Party games. Those have lots and lots of minigames that require jumping and flailing about. Wario Ware is along that line, but much more frenetic.
I''d stay away from the Mario sports games because those are more like Mario-scented versions of the sport, and not sport-scented versions of Mario. Personally I consider Toadstool Tour, Power Tennis, and Mario Kart Double Dash to be indispensible for any Nintendo fan.
Finally, has she ever played Animal Crossing? Even if she claims not to like that kind of thing, give it a try. I''ve had three different game-hating women/girls get completely hooked on it.

I thought it was diamonds. At least, thats what the teevee keeps telling me. Every kiss begins with Kay.
Whoa! Thanks for all the suggestions guys! It''s really hard shopping for her and there''s some great ideas there.
I would love to get her Paper Mario but I heard it was similar to Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga for the Gameboy which she hated it (I loved it, go figure). We''ve got all the Mario Party games but I don''t think the Mario sports games will go over well with her. I got her the Ocarina of Time GC and she really disliked it because the graphics weren''t cel-shaded and the gameplay wasn''t as fine tuned as Wind Waker. She really disliked Animal Crossing because ""There isn''t anything to kill. It''s all this socializing crap."" See why I married her?
What can I say, she''s been spoiled on gaming perfection (Windwaker, Mario Sunshine). Tomorrow morning, once Ohio thaws out I''m planning on trying to find Star Fox Adventures and Beyond Good & Evil. Thanks again and Happy Holidays everyone!

I''ll throw in a 2nd (or 3rd) vote for Sphinx and/or Beyond Good and Evil. Great, fun games, both.

Beyond Good and Evil is a must, absolutely no question about it. I loved that game, and actually felt a bit saddened it had to end. (Knowing damn well there won''t be a sequel).
I think you might have PM''d me about 4 Swords a while back Lock and Load. I decided to keep it around as it''s a pretty great game, it''s a solid title to add to the ''Cube collection. You can play it by yourself, but with each person you add it doubles in awesomeness.

Good choices. Come back and tell us how she likes them.

Can you still find Beyond Good and Evil through normal retail outlets? I had looked for it a couple of months ago and kept getting ""out of stock"" responses.
Yeah, I figured that this would be the case so I''ll be looking through the pre-played racks for those titles. The wife won''t mind a pre-owned... just means I have more money to spend on other things for her.

Hell, I am the same way when it comes to games. Get me preowned games, that way I can have more of them.

Rayman 3 on the GBA and the Rayman games on the big consoles are two very different animals.
