Gamers with Computer Chairs

Had to create this thread cause I just brought home a new tricked out computer chair from Best Buy:

It's a great chair, I highly recommend it. My old chair probably out lasted 10 revisions of my PC and has served me well but it was time for an upgrade..
Picking out my new chair was no less important than picking out what type of CPU I'm getting for my next upgrade. In fact, probably more so.. I went to multiple Staples and could not find one, then I found out Best Buy had a few chairs.
So, how important is your chair? What type and how old is it?
Oh yeah, no questions from the cashier at Best Buy either.
Tell me you opted not to do the $50 installation.

Yeah...I hate Aeron chairs. Having sat in them for years, I can honestly say that Crick''s new chair has much more appeal to me.

My at-work chair features an uber-leet ergonomically nightmarish non-reclining backrest which was assembled in the stygian darkness of Darth Vader''s torture chamber''s septic tank.

For home computing comfort, I have a chair similar to Crick''s that I picked up at Office Max about 5 years ago.

I had an Aeron about two jobs ago. Man do I ever miss that chair... If I could find one cheap, I''d pick it up in a heartbeat for home. Far and away the most comfortable office chair I''ve ever sat it.

I looked at Office Depot on black friday, and my problem was this:
Either the chair was comfortable and not adjustable (and arms usually too narrow for where my arms would comfortably rest), or the chair was very adjustable, and therefore kinda flimsy feeling, and not as comfortable.
Since I''ll be sitting at the desk for the next 10 years (i hope), price tag isn''t quite as important as comfort and all that. So I''d love to hear some more recommendations (with maybe a $250-$300 cap....)
I''m seriously, seriously overdue for a new computer chair. The one at home makes this awful, retching squeak that sounds like a wailing T-Rex each time I move or lean back.
I want to spend $300 or so and get a quality one. If my 8 year old POS has made it this long...

I use an Aeron chair at the office- it has it''s points, but the material *is* hard on fabric (pants). There is a site (I don''t have the link at the moment) with some hilarious videos of the defects of the Aerons. I''ll try and post it later.
I like it, but I really do think there is something better (and less expensive) out there.....

Hmm... personally I''m Rockin'' the Glide Rocker at my home desk. You sit a little lower than ideal, and there''s really no adjustment, but you swivel right 90'' and there''s the ottoman. You recline... put the wireless keyboard on your lap and just.... snoooze.
Politely rude. Briskly vague. Firmly uninformative.
I use a La-Z-Boy rocker/recliner on a swivel as my computer chair. The footrest is just the right size to be able to recline up under my desk and the keyboard tray slides out in just the right position for typing. I have had this setup since college when I decided that if I was going to fall asleep at my computer I was going to be comfortable doing it.
See? Perfect for home use, where pants are definitely optional.

I don''t know if this is possible wherever a prospective chair buying foo'' might live, but in Columbus area there are a few office furniture places that have annual scratch and dent sales. These are very fine places to grab ahold of some insane deals, if you can a) find them and b) get invited to the early showing. Yes, you need to get an invite to buy furniture... it smacks of wrongness on many levels to me, but it''s hard to beat both the price and quality here. Note that some of the stuff is still overpriced; it helps if you do some research.

It helped that I got it at a super-duper sale (plus it was a display model). My butt will occassionally go numb, but that''s just my sign that I''ve been at the computer for waaaay to long.
I just went to Office Depot and bought one that was comfortable. It''s a mesh back chair, and I think it cost around $60 or so. I can''t afford a big $300 chair, so I just bought one that was comfortable to sit in. My old cheap-ass chair lasted for years before it finally gave up. It''s over by my miniatures painting table now
