So what's in the CD player?
[EDIT] MP3 player, audio player, computer, whatever...
[/EDIT]
Been a while since we had an obligatory music thread. Provide links, if the band isn't well known. I'll start.
Modest Mouse - Didn't like their latest record too much, but the older stuff seems to have a Beck-ish sound to it. I dig it... especially 3rd Planet.
The Thrills - Irish Pop Band that sounds reminicient of the Lovin' Spoonful from the '60's. Well, to me, at least.
Ben Arthur - Acoustic singer/songwriter. I like just about anyone that writes a song with the line, "all this dry humping must lead to something."
Abra Moore - She had a disc in the late '90's that got reasonable airplay... disappeared for a while and put something out earlier this year that was a bit different than her earlier offering. I love her voice.

Too many albums, too little time...
William Shatner / Has Been - Ok, yes, I bought Capt. Kirk''s album but it''s REALLY REALLY GOOD! Some of it is really emotional concerning his wife''s death but there''s humor to it also about his career and growing older. If you have Winamp you can stream the whole thing at the bottom of this website...

Rob Dougan / Furious Angels - A lot of this guy''s instrumental music was used in the Matrix movies but it''s quite good with the real vocals put back in.
Blue Man Group / Audio - I really hate people that think Intel invented the Blue Man Group. They''ve been making awesome music for years before the Pentium 3 ads ever came out.
Gamertag: RiverRatMatt
Witchlight Cycle: Sithis of the Thelis'Thale Clan, Dragonborn Paladin of Moradin
Dude, I forgot about that one! I''ve got Common People, but just haven''t gotten around to getting the rest of the album.

I have been listening to Bigup Radio. It is a great internet station for those who have a little rasta in them.
Also nothing beats some classic ''80''s thrash. Iron Maiden, Metallca, Exodus, Absolute Power, HELL YEAH!

I keep going back to the green Weezer album in the car. Also, I''ve been listening to a lot of Doyle Dykes, mostly because I truly can''t believe that a human being can do some of the things that he can do on guitar. Probably the most impressive fingerstyle guitarist I''ve ever heard. A musical director friend of mine summed it up: ""Take Parkening, add some Yngwie, sprinkle with Chet Atkins, and you''ve got Doyle"".

What I am listening to
Latest bands to really grab me are British Sea Power (sort of Bowie-ish vocals and Echo and the Bunnymen-ish music) and Raised Fist (hardcore/death metal crossover band from Sweden) .
I found both of these bands by checking out bands in other people''s profiles on the above-linked audioscrobbler.
WAR: Coda, Archmage, Vortex <Unguilded>
Crystal Method - Vegas (Looped in car... over and over and over and over)
Psysex - An expression of Rage
Led Zeppelin - III
Assorted Mix CDs including Infected Mushroom, Hallucinogen, Xerox, GMS, Kid Koala, Dieselboy, Parasense, Der Verfall, Enigma, Rage, and more.
Politely rude. Briskly vague. Firmly uninformative.
Interpol - Antics (Got me by the innards and won''t let go)
Peter Gabriel - Hit (I still don''t know why I buy greatest hits albums when I have nearly every song on one CD or another. Lazy I guess. Plus I was impressed that they included ''Love to be Loved'')
Johnny Cash - American III
Bob Dylan - Bootleg Series Vol. 4 Disc 2 (''Play F#@king Loud, Man'')
The Vines - Highly Evolved
Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation ... (Will she ever release a proper follow-up? Who knows. Will this disc ever get old to me? Doubtful.)
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
MMO Radio, used to be Paragon Radio. Most of CoH people probably know about it.

"You really need to smoke a tree first to appreciate that one." - Sanjuro
I just discovered The Faint - they do a really cool mix of indie and synth pop, ends up like an unholy mix of 80s and 90s. But they''re good. I''m kicking myself for missing them last time they played here.
Also, Matmos, an insane electronica duo. One of my favorite songs of their was done by taking sound samples at a liposuction clinic, and sequencing a song out of them - but the result is absolutely amazing, a really catchy dance song with a cool, ""wet"" sound that you wouldn''t recognize until you read the liner notes...
Episodes of This American Life, a documentary radio show about, well, contemporary Americana, ranging from hilarious to touching to horrifying.
Oh and, of course, the NPR.
Blondie - The Curse of Blondie (no, it''s not a compilation, it''s new stuff - can''t recommend it highly enough (But then, I like Blondie and I think Atomic is the best track ever recorded))
Frank Black - Black Letter Days
Frank Black - Francis & Two Pale Boys (more melodic reworkings of a bunch of the Pixie''s hits)
Pantera - Cowboys From H*ll: RIP Dimebag
Probot - Probot: Dave Grohl''s metal side project.
Shadows Fall - The War Within: Speed metal with a bit of hard rock thrown in.
Killswitch Engage - The End Of Heartache: Modern metal with melody.
Fatboy Slim - Palookaville: Not as strong as his earlier efforts, but still fun driving music.
Underworld - 100 Days Off: Great for relaxing.
Black Sabbath - We Sold Our Soul For Rock N Roll: Because the classics get better with age
Due to having discussed his music recently here, Wierd Al!
Great sing-along stuff while driving.
"Gamers With Jobs will take over the world someday. I hope they're benevolent overlords." -- Bill Harris
Mogwai - Happy Songs for Happy People/Young Team - I''ve been pleasantly surprised in finally giving this band a shot.
The Verve - Urban Hymns
Miles Davis - Nefertiti/Sketches of Spain
Ken Burns'' Jazz 5 CD Collection
That''s all for now.
