That man is the reason I play guitar. I don''t even know what to say, except that this is the first musician''s death I''ve ever cried over.
I heard about it on Stern this morning. Sad really that a fan killed him ""because he broke up the band pantera"" when it wasn''t him but the lead singer who broke up pantera...

Sonuvabitch. I loved Pantera back in the day and still listen to Cowboys from Hell and Vulgar Display of Power.

Dimebag''s death will impact the metal community similarly to the death of Randy Rhodes 20+ years ago. December 8th is also the 24th anniversay of John Lennon''s death, kinda coincidental...
But when I think about how Dimebag would have wanted to go out, what better way than during a gig. Viking warriors wanted to die in battle to ensure their place in Valhalla, and I just know Darrell is shreddin it up there right now.

While not a huge Pantera fan I do listen to some of their music occasionally. Not that it matters as this is a very sad situation even if I hated Pantera. But for my part i''ll always remember Dimebag when he was known as Diamond Darrell and wrote an article in Guitar magazine that taught me how to use all downstrokes for ''maximum balls''.

Killing someone over a band is just so...fanboy. I can''t say I was a huge Pantera fan, although I liked their stuff. I to remember a Dimebag colum in Guitar magazine. I sucked at playing, but it was always fun to read.

I feel the worst for Vinnie, Dime''s brother...who was sitting at the drum kit about 10 feet away when his brother was shot 3-4 times at point blank range. Vinnie was uninjured.

I am just stunned. One of my favourite guitar players ever, also supposed to be a hell of a nice guy. What a waste. Almost all my heroes are dead now. This sucks beyond measure.

Not really, not at small clubs like this. I''ve played countless gigs at similar venues and never once seen the people at the door do anything besides take money and check IDs.
Apparently, though, the killer didn''t enter the club through the front door anyway...he scaled an 8 foot fence and snuck in through a back door.
