Let's get us a PvP server
Friday, December 3rd, 2004 - 3:16am
I wanna play PvP, but I wanna do it with you guys. I'm thinking that I'm going to focus on my handy enchanter on Blackhand and let my redundant hunter fall to the wayside, giving me time for an alt on a PvP server. Who's with me?
For unity's sake, let's pick a Central one, shall we?

I''d definitely like to play on a PvP server... I dont have a preference - I say we pick one and go with it. I would only play PvP in an active Guild otherwise it becomes an exercise in frustration...

I''m a lvl 23 Druid on a pvp server with my friends.. Destromath, pacific server. NO queues, no lag, fun times.
There''s just something really exciting about PvP. My heart races when I see an enemy in the contested territories and I can feel the tension and excitement as I go into battle for horde like I''m a soldier in a war that much bigger than me.
That and it takes away from the drudgery of always questing and leveling and gives a purpose to the whole leveling thing in the first place, for me at least.

Why are we doing central again? It seems when the central/eastern servers go down because of the datacenter, it''d be nice to be able to jump on a mountain/pacific PvP server, what do you guys think?
Agree completely. Which of those servers are in which regions?

I believe all the ones named are in central.
Never had a problem with Archimonde, wasn''t that the server that was down for a week and then all the guilds had to be rebuilt on it?
I remember seeing something about that yeah...

I was going to ask ""where is the choice for no?"" but I started thinking more about it. WoW would definitely be the first game I would play full PvP. As long as we stuck together it could be pretty damn fun.
I am down for starting a toon on a server. But it really needs to be one that is low pop and probably mountain time also. That is my vote anyway.

But if we do choose a server with low pop the experience may not be as dynamic. I''m just saying that if we''re going to go PvP, why not join a server with a little more competition. Definitely we don''t just want to pick grudges against each other. There''s going to be battles between Da Ork Killaz and GWJ Horde, or something of that nature. And GWJ Alliance can be traitors and give Ork Killaz all of GWJ Horde''s weaknesses. That''s fun.

Oooh, backstabbing!
And we''d probably want to decide on factions in advance or else there is the possibility that we would be on separate sides. I don''t think you can create a char of the opposing faction on a PVP server after your initial character.

Well, no server is truly low pop with as popular as WoW is, so one that is rated low will still have plenty of people to kill.

Also, there is DAoC style PVP on the non-PVP servers, unless I''ve misread. We''ll still be able to join in the AvH fights, there are just a few more protections against getting ganked, that''s all.
"And my son, too, thinks everything is a launchpad, every bug a meal, and every sunny day a reason to take all your clothes off and roll around in the grass." - rabbit
PVP is tempting but I''m going to hold off for awhile before making the step up to that. Being new to this whole MMORPG thing it keeps me busy sometimes just fielding advances from non-GWJ players. I was in Razor Hill a couple nights ago and in the space of 5 minutes someone was begging me to join their guild, someone was asking me questions about my pet, someone challenged me to a duel, and someone virtually kissed me then brushed up against me and farted loudly...now him, I''d like to PVP right into the ground. Damn people.
WoW Baelgun: Omusa, Spits
My main character is on one of the east coast PvP servers (sorry guys, I honestly tried joining you all on BH server--several times--but could never even get as far as a queue). I''m member of a guild and happen to be the highest level member too (currently at 18). :/ The guild has approx 15 people by now, and I''m sure we''d welcome plenty more. If any of you want to come by, let me know and I can prolly set you up.
I forget what the name of the server is. It''s one of the low population servers and I think the name starts with L. It''s not Argent Dawn, that''s for sure (I think that''s the other PvP server). If anybody is interested, I can check my server name and can give you contact info.
--Edit--
Aha! Finally found a listing of WoW servers. I think the server I''m on is Lightning''s Blade. I''m pretty sure, but I need to doublecheck before any of you guys start looking for me. In case someone can''t wait, my main character''s name is Joy.

Llane MD?
Cool MD, when you get the server name let us know please?

I have a lvl 7 Gnome Warlock named Tock on the East Coast PvP server Shadow Moon. I needed to pick an East Coast server because in PvP it behooves you to travel in packs. I figured the place I''d find people on the same time I''m on would have to be in the same time zone. However right now I only play on that server when the queue is too long on Blackhand or the server is down.

I wouldn''t mind playing on a PvP server, but I don''t know how I am going to find time for yet another character.
Burning Blade, maybe Moondragon?
Thats the PvP server I''m playing on in the East.
Level 18 Tauren Shaman named Shride.
Started a human mage on BH, but got sidetracked with the shaman. They are a lot of fun to play.
WAR- Iron Rock - Cigaro/Engineer, Maersk/Witch Hunter
I have a level 10 or 11 Tauren Shaman on one of the RP servers
. But I''m pretty sure the server in question is Lightning''s Blade.

All the PVP servers listed have a HIGH population almost everytime I''ve looked. Central is over populated in my opinion. I think we''d have a better experience choosing a LOW pop Pacific server. There''s still no shortage of people on a lower population server that''s for sure.
I'm still right here

Don''t forget that the holidays are coming up. A lot of people will be getting WoW as a present and filling up the servers further.

This seems like a cunning ploy to get people to finally move off Blackhand =)

I''m kind of waiting for Blizzard to implement more of the PvP system before I create a PvP server alt. I do have friends playing on Ilidan already though.
WAR: Coda, Archmage, Vortex <Unguilded>
So if we''re gonna do this, let''s do it on Archimonde. Objections?

What the heck, I''d make a character on Archimonde. I''d love to try pvp, it''d be my first time in an MMO, and you guys would probably be great to join up with.
Sorry I haven''t joined in on the Blackhand fun. I gave up trying a while ago with my trouble connecting (I actually had a few characters there, with one just over 10, and they were deleted by the server; pissed me off), and have settled on another server that a friend and I are building characters on.
You know, I''ve read a couple of threads, and seen a few things written...but I''m still not sure I understand the difference between PVP and non-pvp servers in Wow.
On non-pvp servers, you can still go into contested areas and pvp, or form raids and attack a town or whatever, right? So, what''s the point of pvp, unless it means that you can get ganked by your own faction as well as the opposing faction?
I dunno, I loved the DAOC pvp methodology...massive, massive battles of Take the Flag. In that format, you had to specifically travel to enemy territory, or contested territory to pvp, but there were huge swaths of the game that were completely safe from PVP.
It''s my understanding that WOW PVP works the same way on regular servers.
So, what''s the advantage/benefit/difference on a pure PVP server?
