Steam Summer 2014 Sale - I think we're done here, right?

That's sheep.

Kids these days...

Just started my first gifted game - SteamworldDig, and it is really good. Usually it's not a game I would pick up for myself, but I'm playing it because generosity.

That's maybe the best aspect of what we do around here when we Steamgift. We get exposed to a whole new set of games we would otherwise overlook.

My boss has blocked all gaming sites at work. And now Hide My Ass (the proxy) will no longer let me log in. I miss you all!

Cryptostorm is a good VPN provider, though you do have to pay for it.

My company blocks pretty much everything, which is why I post almost exclusively from my phone now.

The advantage of working for an Internet firm; we're pretty much expected to be all over the web all the time. I'm not sure there's anything blocked at my office.

TunnelBear is good for proxying. They have a free tier of 500MB per month, which should be enough for the GWJ site. It's easy to flip on and off while you're surfing.

And there's always Proxy SwitchySharp for Chrome, and I think FoxyProxy is still around.

Or -- and I know I'm being crazy here -- you could just, you know, work. =)

*gasp*

So, I haven't figured out tunnelbear yet, but those other two appear to be proxy managers that assume I have servers to connect to. Which I don't. Hidemyass sort of provided both the server and the manager. I don't know any servers individually.

Holy crap Mantid with the random gifting. Thanks a lot!

Edit: Fixed! Thanks again, Mantid.

Seriously, we need to rename this thread to "it ain't over til we say it's over."

Aaaaand Mantid continues the streak with a gift of Long Live the Queen. Thank you, sir! I will endeavor to keep the kid alive

It warms the heart to see this thread continue.

May it continue until the Winter Sale!

It's a reminder that Gaben is out there, watching over us...

That's glorious. And I love the picture's title: "PC Gaming Master Race Gaben", heh. Look at us, we're like lemmings.

I'm speechless. Mantid just gifted me with Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. Thank you!

As a last hurrah - Skyrim Legendary Edition is on sale today, £6.79.

For the four or five people on this forum who don't already own it - GET ON IT !

It's not that I don't own Skyrim. I am just waiting for a deeper discount on Dragonborn... Think I'll wait for gold release nowaday. :S

Legendary release has Dragonborn, and Dawnguard, and the house building one. With the base Skyrim. For £7. What more do you bleedin' want ?

;)

Davet010, thank you for ETS2!

It's the high DLC pricing that's galling. They're two years old, and Dawnguard and Dragonborn each still cost more than the base game. So we need to buy the game over again just to pick up its DLC at a reasonable rate. It wasn't this way with Fallout 3/NV, but it is with Dishonored and Skyrim. It's a way to milk those who didn't buy those games right away, but did so before the release of the complete editions.

I guess I'm not entirely surprised by Bethesda's razors-and-blades approach to recent DLC pricing, but it is slightly frustrating to be on the receiving end of it. I now have to spend $15 just for a pair of DLCs for a three-year old game.

I know, "first world problems" and all that, and I'm spoiled by Steam sales. It is absolutely true that $15 is a tremendous value for the Legendary Edition; it is much less so for two mission packs for a game I already own.

This. I hear your complaints and agree that the pricing scheme itself is sketch, but overall that's a reasonable price for two solid content expansions.

It's a way to milk those who didn't buy those games right away, but did so before the release of the complete editions.

I think they usually mark the DLC way down during Steam Sales.... if you want games really cheap, that's kind of when you need to buy them.

I got the plain vanilla Skyrim as a gift, and I haven't even played that yet. It almost seems ungrateful to buy Legendary Edition under those circumstances.

If I buy S:LE, will I be able to gift the base game?

Oh trust me, I do, and I've been watching those two like a hawk. You'd think otherwise, but neither Dawnguard nor Dragonborn have never been offered below $9.99 during any Steam Sale, flash deal, daily deal, weekend special, etc., or on any store elsewhere on the net. Source: IsThereAnyDeal.

(The 24 hour Amazon $5 sale on Dragonborn in December appears to have been a pricing error, as Dawnguard was not similarly discounted.)

Not a chance.
