Looking for Powerstar Golf Friends

I do apologize if there's another thread for Powerstar Golf, but 25 pages in, and several search attempts (dear God is the search function on this site awful) netted me nothing. Anyhow, I've been hoping for more than the 2 people I know that have the game to compare records against against. Feel free to fling a request to DaringOne if you like the game too. Thanks!

You can add me (JayhawkerStL). I've been totally addicted to this game, as it is far better than I had an reasonable expectations for. Live multiplayer would be nice, but the social aspects are really well done. And the golf is surprisingly realistic for an arcade experience. It's probably my most played game right now.

I also love this game, I think it is definitely my most played X1 game, so easy to hop in for just one round if I don't have much time and love chasing scores on my friends list! Feel free to send me a FR (or whatever they are now).

I'm XDocjoeX on Live btw.

The really genius thing in this game is how just how often I seem to be setting new records, with gives you an extra 200 XP. But it isn't really a new record, just a notice that you moved up on the leaderboard for that particular activity. When you line up to hit off the tea, you are shown the WR for longest drive, along with the longest drives of the two people on your friends list just ahead of you. So even if I am 7th, I still have a distance to try and beat.

I wish there were better leaderboards that would entail all of the scores worth chasing, but in game, you are constantly being challenged to drive further, get closer to the pin, and sink long putts. I have needed up using the limited power boosts for when I think I can beat record, which drops more XP into my account. I've never felt the need to spend money, as XP is earned often.

Right now the game will let you know when you log on that someone has beaten your Rivals Mode score, or better, lost to you, which earns you XP. I'd like some form of notification every time someone beats any of my in-game records. The other thing that could be cool would be hiding the scores of your Rivals, so that when you play someone you don't know what score you have to beat.

Oh hey, hi! I wasn't sure this game had its own thread until mentioned by Jayhawker in a different thread. I haven't played this in a bit, but feel free to add me if you wish, gamertag dRailer. I seem to always come back to this game when I'm between other games.

I've played a number of rounds and hope to get back to it soon. Please friend me up.

I'll be in some time in the next few weeks.

So can we all agree that this game really doesn't seem to have one killer silver bullet set of equipment? It is more a matter of finding your playing style and altering the character that you like, to match?

Also, any theories on the $60,000 cards vs the $15,000? The $60,000 are supposed to be all elite/orange items. I've been doing the $15,000 repeatedly. Sometimes I get jack-crap-nothing.

Once I got to Burning Sands, I've stated using Reiko to take advantage of her accuracy. I had been using Frank exclusively, but his power is not nearly as useful on that course.

As for equipment, I just add whatI think emphasize each character's strength. I've really liked that I have yet to end up with equipment that makes it easy to destroy the game. Whatever I load out, I still find each shot a good challenge.

I have not grabbed a $60K pack yet, and probably won't for awhile. That would be passing up 20 cards to see what 5 elite cards I can get. I've worked my credits up to $30K, but end up grabbing two packs of the $15K instead of waiting.

By the way, I tried to upload a clip of me beating one of your closest to the pin records the other day, but I thick I corrupted it. I started by just saying "Record that," but it didn't record enough. I went to the DVR and grabbed the last several minutes, which worked, but it won't let me finish editing because there is a problem. It was a long pitch out of the sand that nearly went in the cup.

I still play this more than any other XB1 game. I planned on getting in some Titanfall last night, and ended up in PSG instead.

I did the same except that I actually did save up the $60k... then couldn't make myself pull the trigger. "That's 4 of the 15K packs! Forget it!"

I work from home and this is actually a pretty nice game to play in tandem with stupid repetitive parts of a task. Play an 18 hole course, each hole between something on my daily checklist, etc.

Aww, I wish I could've seen your highlight. I probably don't do enough peeking around through those, so if you get a real doozy, send me a message, please.

After months of avoiding Reiko, I think I'm going back to her. I hate her power, I don't like the things she says, but I think her overall stats match my playing style the best. I think I'm only missing her "woods" for equipment.

Do you think the personalized equipment with the character's names on them is typically the best equipment for that character?

EDIT - It looks like Reiko's full set bonus with her "named" equipment is +50 power... that would pretty much make her where I'd like her to be stat-wise. Dominique seems like she could be cool with the right equipment too, but I don't think I have hardly any of her stuff. (By the way, this is why I was NOT happy to hear they were adding equipment with the update. Chances of getting a full set bonus are significantly decreased.)

I also play the game and looking for more people to compare scores to.

Until right now, I thought you were milehighbrew.

I added Powerstar Golf to my friends list, and whoever is playing the game for them has very reasonable records that can be beaten. They followed me back, as they don't have a ton of followers yet. But I'm pretty sure the dev team is still working on improvements and possibly some DLC stuff. It can't hurt to get on their list, and send them some feedback for stuff you'd like.

Plus, if you feel like you really need more players, you can cull off of their friends list to find more.

I've been playing more rivals lately, losing more than winning, as way to get more involvement. If someone tries to beat your score, you will get a notice that you earned XP for winning, or that someone beat you, and one click to try and return the favor.

I've been looking at the bars or stats on the left and not paying as much attention to the little bonuses on the right as I scan through the equipment. I'd glance casually and see a couple percentages and think "good." Well... not so good. There are two clubs that I have that turned out to have negative side effects that I wasn't paying attention to; actually thought they were bonuses. The first set I found was called Assassin Wedges. They have a high bonus for ending up in a rough lie. (At least that's what I think is going on.) The second set were Cursed Woods... +20% wind effect...the name is what clued me in, obviously. Anyway, in case anybody else happened to miss that info, now you know. Otherwise, of course, those turn out to be some sweet clubs, I had accuracy maxed with the Assassins in my arsenal.

I finally tried this out this morning, and I'm impressed. With this on offer for $20, I'm not sure how Sony could charge $60 for Hot Shots this time around. (assuming they ever get around to making one)

I only played the first three round event, and I definitely am going to need some practice to get used to the timing as I went birdie, par, bogey to finish dead even.

I was surprised it let me use dRailer's caddy. As far as I can tell you don't level up or gain affinity with a caddy, and their perks are gained from the random equipment packs in the store. Is this correct? I'm trying to figure out if there is any reason to play with a caddy of my own at this early stage instead of those off my friends' list that already have perks.

Edit: I tried local multiplayer with my daughter this afternoon. It is nice that it lets you pass and play to share one controller if you only have one instead of requiring multiple controllers. It is a small thing but appreciated. Also, the way your friends' shots and records are incorporated into everything really adds to the game.

Friend me up, it's the one thing i am playing on the Xbone, albeit intermittently.

Dude, you should only EVER play with dRailer's caddy. There's no reason to EVER play your own caddy, in my opinion. Also, if you could challenge me as a rival and lose a lot, that would also be super great. (totally kidding)

Bumpity bump.

Game is now a Free2Play model. If I'm reading this correctly, it includes Coyote Canyon, which is new free DLC... but the courses that came with the non F2P model are now 5.99 each or something to that effect. So confused. I could use a new course though, so yay. I hope it is somewhere in the middle, difficulty-wise.

(Sounds like you CAN still buy the full game for 19.99)

Ha! I always thought this was only one person on your friends list because I only have one "friend" who owns Powerstar Golf. My friend is actually only someone I follow... so it's kind of cool that it gives you that data even if it's not someone who is following you back.

Anyone that has the free edition of Powerstar Golf should know that it is on sale this week for $15.
