Whoa, Prince of Persia: WW reviews
There's been lots of worry about the next Prince of Persia game. A couple reviews are showing up on GameRankings, and they're high.
PSM gives it a 10 (gave the first game an 8)
OXM gives it a 9.6 (gave the first game a 9.4)
Play Magazine gives it an A- on the three platforms
Granted, none of these are my choice for most reliable reviewers, but even still, they're not TOTALLY clueless. And now I'm starting to feel like maybe my worries about the game were unfounded (wasn't TOO worried, still put it #1 on my Christmas game list, but other people have expressed stronger reservations)
I hope I hope I hope the game does indeed kick ass, and my theory (about all the heavy metal stuff being pushed up front just to try and hook in the gamers that ignored the first one) stands true.

If the game is more action oriented and a lot less puzzle-minded I''ll probably look into it.
I hate puzzles. Really I do. If the solution isn''t almost immediately obvious I don''t want to bother with it. I tend to shut those particular brain functions off when I game. I can handle strategic situations, twitch situations, and combinations of the two. Even tactical stuff is great, but I''ll be damned if I don''t just flat hate games with ""place this block here and put that gem in the rod socket to open the green door"" puzzles.

I don't imagine master craftsmen leaping away from completed projects and shouting "Done, motherf*ckers! - 1Dgaf
I hated the demo. Awful music with no sense of when and where the game is supposed to be, uggly ass textures. It has lot of action (good) but no soul (Bad).

Did Samurai Jack ever get back to the past?
I think you''ll want to stay away then! I''ve been following this quite closely and alot of the ingame footage i''ve seen has had puzzle elements.
From what i''ve read on the net, they''ve really improved the combat and left the puzzle gameplay intact. Which is great.
For me.
Not for you
That''s strange - according to Penny-Arcade, they removed the logic puzzles from the game entirely:
Maybe we''ll have to get some user reviews up before we find out the story here.
Everything can be debated, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's debatable.

Just to clarify, I''ve not played, but i saw alot of POP1 type puzzles in the video footage. Maybe they took them all out. I really hope not. It''s not prince of persia without the puzzles.
That is odd... I remember reading somewhere that this one was going to be a much more combat-action oriented game... that''s what I''m after, although I did enjoy the last one.

I''m playing through the first one right now, and I have to say: how the hell could you improve the combat? What other PC game lets you do a vaulting sword slash? Huh? HUH? Exactly.
I can live with less puzzles, truth be told-the defense system had me screaming obscenities at the screen. But completely removed then its not Prince of Persia. It still might be good, but it''s not Prince of Persia.
Ah, hell, I probably get this anyway.
I really loved the first one but I wasn''t too impressed by the demo either.
Hopefully the final product is a lot better.

Wii: 4859 2... oh f*ck it.
I probably won''t do anything with this except rent it, for two reasons.
1) I really liked Sands of Time, but had it beat in a DAY. Not exactly worth the $50 I spent on it, IMHO.
and
2) I thought the combat in the first one was okay, but I enjoyed the puzzles and the running acrobatics more. If they''re focusing on combat more, I don''t know that I''ll necessarily like it as much.
Actually, I thought of more reasons.
- You look like too much of a hardass in this one. I liked how, while fit and atheletic, the Prince in Sands of Time was in no way musclebound and weathered.
- The demo pretty much sucked. When he got cut, and then turned and said ""... Bitch..."" it took all my strength and willpower not to turn off the game right there.

I was hoping for more puzzles and platforming than we had in the first game; those were my favorite segments. The combat, while entertaining, wasn''t my favorite part. However, it sounds like they''re making the combat more interactive and interesting this go around, though unfortunately at the expense of the real brain-twisters.
If you read the IGN article they reference, you''ll see that she''s not saying that they''re gone, just that there is less of that sort of gameplay (swiveling light beams, etc).

That makes sense. Regardless, I hope there are few or no logic puzzles in this one. Combat and the platform puzzles were fun in Sand of Time, but the logic puzzles felt out of place and really broke the flow of that game IMHO.
Everything can be debated, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's debatable.

I agree - they were my least favorite part of the first game.

The footage I''ve seen on G4 (yes, G4, I watch it sometimes) showed a lot of the ""traversing the room"" puzzles.
I really think the demo was just to show off the fighting system, and not to represent the game on the whole.
