Your financial DOOM is here! And it is named the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe!

I soooo do not care about SLI. Maybe if the VC were $100 each, then I would. But no way in hell am I paying 1200+ for just the MB and VCs.

Having children, I''ve long-since gotten over having the latest, greatest computing hardware (although strangely I have been picking up a fair bit of stuff lately). In any event, all I can say is *wow*. I want one.

That NVIDIA four chipset has a built in firewall that takes away the drain from the CPU. As far as the video cards being expensive. You just buy one and in a year when the other one comes down you can have a twice as fast video for a fraction of the cost of a state of the art video card.
I'm bringing sexy back!
The increase in performance is not double. More like 15-20% tops.
So not worth it.

Ya, you gotta figure that the SLI will do nothing to speed up collision detection and AI. That takes up a huge amount of CPU clock cycles these days. The best you can hope for is doubling of the transforming and rasterization and such.
Being fangoriously devoured by a gelatinous monster.
Yeah, but no matter how minimal the boost, this is another upgrade designed to make chicks dig you. End of story. Back in the ""age"" of VooDoo, anybody with the VooDoo2 SLI got lots of play, baby.
And yes, that was me.

Do games have to specially coded two work in SLI mode or will it automatically work with existing games?
That thing on the pic is bulging with pixelful powerness.
Xbox Live tag Gorilla800lbs
Early benchmarks..show varying increases...some as low as 20ish% some as high as 70ish%
Not really a hard 15-20%
So...certainly worth it.

no...since the game itself knows nothing of what your doing..
The video driver handles all the SLI functionality..its not like SMP.

I will take 2 mobos and 4 VCs please!

Only one pair of memory card slots? Bah, what a waste! Need at least 2 sets..
Tom''s has it for your perusing pleasure!
Some pretty interesting stuff in there. Not too surprized based on what I remember of the original SLI.

HardOCP''s Take
I don''t see the point of it.. you spend $200 for another video card only to get 6-8 fps of performance increase.
I do see how the best arguement for this would be 1-2 years down the road you can upgrade to a modest performance increase for a very reduced price.

I''m pretty impressed with the results. For Call of Duty and other games that aren''t really bottlenecked by the video card at this point, there''s no point in SLI, but at high resolutions on shader-intensive games, the performance is nearly doubled with SLI (for example, 43 fps->75 fps in Far Cry, 38 fps-> 68 fps in Doom 3 according to Tom''s Hardware).
Considering that people are willing to pay several hundred dollars more to see a measly 10% increase in performance at the high end, dropping a couple hundred down the line to nearly double performance in graphics-intense games isn''t a bad deal at all for the videophile crowd.
Well, except does it really work out that way? You''re paying for a state of the art motherboard that does very little for you until you pay even more for a second video card.
Essentially, would buying this motherboard and adding a second video card a year from now be cheaper than just buying a new video card a year from now when this mobo is significantly more expensive than your average board?
It''s definately cool though, and if I had money overflowing my pockets I''d be all over this with a pair of 6800 ultras in SLI mode.
How''s the heat work though? Most of these cards run pretty hot, and now you''re cramming two of them next to each other?

Err...does it fit in a case at all? or you have to stack magazines on it in the corner when guests come?

It''s apparently a standard ATX size board, so it should fit in most cases.

I''m kindda hoping for the next batch of nForce 4 boards. I''m not so interested in the SLI part (although I wouldn''t toss it out the window if I got it), but am more interested in other ""features"" of the nF4 chipset.
BTW, has anybody got any experience with the onboard sound of the nForce chipsets? How does it compare to SB Audigy/Audigy2 cards?
(@)
I have Nforce sound in one my computers and it isnt bad at all... I have an Audigy 2 in the new one and I really dont hear too much of a difference.... You really cant go wrong in my opinion and given how fast CPU''s are - the few cycles onboard sound takes is pretty minimal in my opinion...
