Official Certis and Hoochie WoW Plans
Like Sands Through the Hour Glass, So Are the Days of Our Lives
![]()
Karla and I talked about how we're going to work World of Warcraft and a few things came to mind. The main thing being we have so many people planning to play there is no way one official night would work or really make sense since you can only have a group of five unless you're raiding. So rather than make one big official night and try to break everyone off into groups we're going to arrange our own night as kind of an open invite to those who want to join us. We'll have one official night Horde group on one server and one Alliance set that we play more causally on another. Here are the details:
Official Game Night GroupServer: A Central server TBA, Non-PVP
Faction: Horde
When: Tuesday Nights, 8PM CSTGuidelines:
Tuesday night characters can only be played Tuesday night with the group. If you miss a night or fall behind a bit you can play on your own to catch up to where everyone else is at. We may have a second night of the week if there's a holiday or something but that won't happen often. This is a long term group made for questing together.
Is there room?
Well, it's only five per group but I expect there will be plenty of people around to play with on our little official night. I'm sure there will be various people coming in and out of the group as we play.
Teamspeak?
We will be on TS in a custom WoW channel.
What About Guild Stuff?
We will be forming a Gamers With Jobs guild, anyone from the site will be welcome to join!
Casual Server InfoServer: A Central server TBA, Non-PVP
Faction: Alliance
When: Anytime you wantGuidelines:
This is going to be our "ALT" server so these characters can be played as much or as little as you want. Totally at your own pace, group up with whoever happens to be online. I expect Karla and I will play together a fair bit on this one outside of official night on the other server.
Teamspeak?
We will be on TS in a WoW channel.
What About Guild Stuff?
We will be forming a Gamers With Jobs guild, anyone from the site will be welcome to join!
There you go, that's our plan for WoW next week and in the coming months. I know some of you plan to join a PVP server, I encourage you to form a GWJ guild and kick some ass on our behalf.

It sounds like there will be a number of these nights..I''m sure everyone will find their niche as things settle down. I''ll still be playing the Wednesday night Horde group that we already set up. I''d love to join in on Tuesdays, but it is the one night I get to see my wife!

Why on two different servers?

You cant have a Horde and Alliance character on one account on the same server.

This sounds like a fantastic plan. I am really looking forward to playing this with you guys.

Actually you can on non-PvP servers.

Can they be in the same guild too? I''ve been checking the FAQ for specific mention one way or another on the details.
*edit*
Here!
Not sure about the guild part or grouping though.

So we have two guilds
. I''m looking forward to this, although playing some mamby-pamby squirrel rider is a bit off-putting. I wub my troll...

I''d prefer they were both on the same server... if you can see your friend is playing is Alliance character while you''re running around with your Horde character. That way you can log out and switch sides. (I don''t care if they can talk across factions, as long as the friends list works.)

I agree, we''ll have both on the same server. Suits me just fine!

Plus it''s always more fun to shank your friends.

I propose that the Horde Guild be titled NUCF. I tend to think of my imaginary creation as the anti-GWJ.

Your friends all have to be in the same faction as you. I tried to add some of the Alliance GWJ''ers during the beta (I was playing a Troll)and was told no-no.

Doh! I guess that makes it fairly irrelevant whether their on the same server or not then, eh? Consider my ""vote"" retracted then.

Well, regardless of restrictions using the same server for the sake of simplicity makes sense. Hopefully we''ll get a server list soon and we can pick some arbitrary ""middle"" server and get cracking. I guess the only reason NOT to be on the same server for both sides is they probably both couldn''t be called ""Gamers With Jobs"" for the guild name.

Count me in for the Tuesday game. I''ll play whatever class we need.

Ahh but the guild names need to be unique to the ''region'', the east and west coast (two time zones each) I believe are the US/Canada regions. That why we had to go through that BS of recreating the guild. So we may need to have one on Mountain and another on Central.
Do you ever walk alone like a drifter in the dark?
Couldn''t we just name one guild ""Horde Gamers With Jobs"" and the other ""Alliance Gamers With Jobs""? Or some other name to identify the two factions of the guild?

Here are some ideas...
for the Alliance players we could do...
Heroes with Jobs
Alliance with Jobs
Gamers with Jobs
for the Horde players....
Villains with Jobs
Horde With Jobs
Evil Gamers with Jobs.
I don''t have a thesaurus handy but there should be a way to distinguish the two ""... with Jobs"" guilds.

I think there''s a limitation on the size of the Guild name, possibly 20 characters. We should pick something simple.

How about GWJ Horde and GWJ Alliance.

Oh yeah baby, count me in for just about any WoW night.
It sucks you can''t form raid groups for just plain adventuring together. It''ll be cool when we get to level for raid quests, though.
GWJ Horde and GWJ Alliance sounds good, too.
I usually don''t like abbreviated guild names but that works if only for consistency. I DO like Heroes With Jobs too though.
Certis beat me to it. - Elysium
Gryphonriders With Jobs and Batriders with Jobs.
Not the best example, but it''d be nice to have something a little more exciting than GWJ Horde and GWJ Alliance (no offense, Slambie).

I like Heroes with Jobs and Villians with Jobs, personally. Both are nominally recognizable as connected with the site.

lunabean wrote:But ""Villains with Jobs"" is a wrongful attempt to objectify the Horde as the ""other,"" in a transparent attempt to demonize it vis-a-vis the self.
Likewise, ""Heroes with Jobs"" clearly attempts to mask the role the Alliance has played as oppressors and crypto-fascist masters in the current world-image of the Horde.
I think that a simple non-prescriptive ""A Squad"" and ""B Squad"" is the best choice, if we believe that we must resort to an unenlightened nominative system in the first place.
Of course any system requiring ""with Jobs"" as part of the nomenclature is a petty attempt to exclude from the self those who are differently employment-abled.
Count me in for as much WoW as possible.
If you are hurtin cuz the beta is over, do yourself a favor and dont visit the official WoW site. I got addicted to reading the class descriptions. Oh man I am in so much trouble. I want to retry every class now! Even Paladins sound really cool!
Please, help!
