Terminator 3 - Spoilers A Plenty
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2003 - 3:53pm
So, I just got back from T3. I was pretty suprised by the way the movie ended, a surprising departure from the classic summer formula where the bad robots lose and the good guys win. I can honestly say I wasn't expecting that ending, and so it was that much more a pleasant surprise when it came along. Now, of course, from a production stand point it makes a sequel pretty easy (read: obvious), but still I kind of applaud them for taking that risk.
I know there was sort of a stunned silence when the movie was over. I think people were more than a bit surprised.

You know, I didn''t care about the movie one way or the other until you said that. Good thing you left it kind of vague.

Yeah, I knew some of you who weren''t going to see it would also check. I didn''t want to give too much away.
I''m always looking out for you kids!

Is it worth seeing?

I liked it better than a lot of similar movies. Saw it on a matinee when it was hot as hell outside, so yeah, I''m going to say it was. Not a mind blowing movie in any way, but it fit the bill. Lots of explosions, things blowing up, Arnold being Ahnahld, and the new Terminator is nicely evil in a purrrrrrr kinda way. All eye candy with some interesting twists. Yup, I''m going to give it a summer movie thumbs up.
Oh and Claire Danes cries in the movie. Ya know, cause that never f''ing happens!

Woot! Claire Danes is in it?
Color me interested!

I got a chance to see it yesterday and for me so far this is the best movie out sense the begining of the year. I liked it allot more than The Matrix. Anyway it starts of a bit odd but really picks up, and I liked it all the way to the end. Also in the end, it reminded me alot of Fallout...

I wasn''t to intersted myself, but since I haven''t seen a new movie in awhile, I decided to go see this Saturday. Glad it''s not complete summer formula.
OT, but is anyone else looking forward to Pirates of the Caribbean? The trailers make it look like a really fun ride. I usually like Johnny Depp''s choice in movie too, so that''s a plus.

Yeah, I''m actually thinking about checking PotC out. I''m even interested in Sinbad ... and I know for a fact that I''m not the only one.

Elysium: You are right and wrong. I loved T3. I thought it was better than the first two and better than Matrix: Reloaded. T3 is fantastic. It also re-creates the franchise and offers us more movies. I loved it. People say it has zero plot aren''t really into what the movie is. I thought the plot was great and the story was great. Best action/scifi movie in years.
Me like.

I thought the movie was great. It was a total blast. T3 didn''t take itself too serious and that level of humor pushed the movie along nicely. I walked out of it surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It''s not X-Men 2, but it''s a great action sci-fi- flick that knows it''s kinda cheesey and doesn''t mind making fun of itself a bit. Go see it if you are on the fence.

Ulairi, I swear you can''t post without putting ''Elysium you''re wrong'' in there at some point.
i suppose I should be happy you gave me some credit of being right too.
Actually, I''m curious. What do you think I was wrong about? You never actually said. You usually at least tell me how I was wrong.

I thougth the film was very smart and more than just a summer blow-up fest. You made it sound as if the film is perfect summer popcorn but not much more. I thought it was actually a very well done scifi film. (Maybe I read you wrong)

No, you read me right, but I''ve always been MUCH harder on sci-fi writing than most. I still think Pitch Black was one of the most abyssmal movies I''ve paid for.

Has anyone seen 28 Days Later? It seems to be getting great reviews and looks pretty interesting. I think I am going to skip T3 and go see 28 Days Later.

I didn''t like Pitch Black.

Pitch Black wasn''t that bad... I mean its ok to see once movie. However I have to say that T3 will be the best sci-fi this year along side of X-Men 2, but Matrix is falling flat... I hope Revolutions will be better.

I saw T3 this afternoon and thought it was excellent.. not quite the level of T2 but on its own it was a great movie... if a tad too short.. I felt another 10-15 minutes would have been great... a tad more action at Skynet''s base would have been better. Perhaps a directors cut on DVD will add some footage to those scences?
I loved the ending...and perhaps now they''ll move onto T4 and show some of the resistance''s battle against Skynet and the events that lead up to sending the first Terminator back in time. Give Arnold a cameo at the very end..
Cause lets face it...he''s getting OLD.

Wow! I was truly impressed. I honestly didn''t think I was going to enjoy it as much as I did. Its been a few years since I saw T2, but I think I liked this one better.
True, but I''ll be damned if it''s not just amazing the shape he is in. Jawdropping for a 55 year old man.

Oh please. Does T3 have a white old dude saying ""Concordantly"" and ""Ergo"" and... Ah... ""Carpe diem""?
YEAH, I THOUGHT SO. ERGO, reason one why T3 GETS ITS ASS KICKED!

By the way, I don''t like Arnold. In Pumping Iron, he actually brags about how he gives bad advice to his friends, in order to stay ""top dog"".
Even worse, he tells a journalist how he sabotaged a young bodybuilder''s first show, telling him to grunt and scream as he hit every pose, supposedly to impress the judges. The guy was obviously disqualified, and shamed.
That one was the worst. I mean, the guy posed no threat to Arnold, who, in the 70s, was in his prime, a god in the field. Why do that? Jeez.
There are many other anecdotes of what a bitch he was - telling jokes on stage to make competitor bodybuilders laugh (thus disrupting their poses), attacking them psychologically backstage, and the whole Lou Ferrigno thing.
Oh, and many people agree he had the 1980 Mr. Olympia contest fixed so that he would win.
( 3. Q. I would like to turn back 20 years and ask you about the most controversial Mr. Olympia in history. I am talking, of course, about the 1980 Mr. Olympia that took place in Sydney. Everybody thought at that time that the winner would prevail after a strong battle between you and Frank Zane, as it had happened exactly 1 year before in the 1979 Mr. Olympia. Surprisingly, you finished 5th and Mr.Zane finished 3rd. What do you believe really happened that day?
MikeMentzer: The 1980 Mr. Olympia was definitely fixed. The promoter of that contest was Paul Graham, a very, very close friend of Arnold''s. As it turned out, while the rules stated that individuals had to officially enter their application to compete one month before the contest, the IFBB bent the rule and let Arnold enter the day before! He waited that long because by that point he knew who the judges were. CBS, who was there to film the event for future televising, was convinced it was fixed and discovered that a majority of the judges had either close personal or financial ties with Arnold. Well, so convinced - and pissed off - was CBS Sports that, despite the time, money and effort required to send a film crew half way around the world to Australia to film a sporting event, they refused to air that contest. As further evidence, I suggest you view the video of the 1980 Mr. Olympia, which can be purchased from my Web site. from http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/mminter.htm)
So I don''t like him. I guess he''d fit right in in politics, tho... :P[/i]

Just saw T3. I thought it was fantastic! A great return to a truly classic sci-fi series.

I saw T3 this weekend and went in with very low expectations. The previews looked pretty bland. I thought it was great, however. In some regards, I liked it better than T2.
Plan to be spontaneous... tomorrow
