My excuse is simple. In order for my alarm to actually wake me up it has to be loud enough to make me want to get up out of bed and turn it off. The required volume also wakes up everyone else in the house. 3 AM is not the best time for that. If I turn it down low enough that it won''t wake up anybody but me, I know myself too well to think I''ll actually get up. I''ll half open my eye, grumble, roll over so I''m laying on my back and put a pillow over my head. I''ll then sleep through the radio playing for the entire 2 hours it''s on.
I''ve been through the process far too many times to now know exactly what will happen.
