Xbox Live Essentials?

Well.. I took the plunge last week and picked up a Xbox and Halo 2. I was very weary of playing a FPS on a console, but after almost a week, I must say that I'm impressed. Now I just need to work on my game library. So far, I see continuing games for Links 2k4 and ESPN NFL 2k5. For $20 a pop, they seem like a good deal. I fancied the Tiger Woods series on the PS2, so how does Links 2k4 compare? And even though I don't care for football, NFL 2k5 is tempting. The Xbox came w/ EA's NCAA game which i really didn't care for. How does the ESPN one compare? And lastly, what Xbox Live games do you all frequently play?

I currently play Halo2 and ESPN NHL 2k5 and I''m picking up ESPN NFL later today because Swampy found my home phone number and has been threatening to come to my house and kill me if I didn''t pick it up. I also have Crimson Skies but haven''t played it yet.
I also use the Plantronics Halo 2 headset which I feel, is quite superior.

In a similar vein, my bro-in-law has an x-box and just got Live (ruined his X-mas present that ass). So now I have to think of something to get him other than Live.
I was leaning towards H2 but he''s into military fps like Rainbow Six3 and such. Is there a game like JO that you guys are into quite a bit on Live or should I go with my H2 choice?

It pwns it LOLZ! Seriously, you''ll find that a lot of guys here (100% of them) prefer Links. Great game, and we''ve been playing it a lot together lately. I''m on my way to make the greatest comeback in virtual golf history to win our current XSN tourney. It''s too bad you''ll miss this one, but you can always witness my total dominance on the next one though.

I wouldn''t recommend MechAssault with Lone Wolf shipping next month.
Edit: What I''m actively playing: Halo 2, ESPN NFL 2k5, Burnout 3, and (very rarely these days) Crimson Skies... with an even less frequent sprinkling of MechAssault just to see if anyone is still playing (they are).

MechAssault 2 is due out (LOL yeah right) right after Christmas (89% chacne it will get pushed), Mechassault 1 is good, but not sure how many people are still playing it.

Lone Wolf with its persistent universe and whatnot looks like the best XBox Live title on the horizon. I''m also very much in the Burnout 3 camp.

As far as fighters go I have to say I''ve really enjoyed playing Mortal Kombat: Deceptions and Dead Or Alive Ultimate. I''ve also really enjoyed late night Project Gotham Racing 2. Gonna have to try Halo 2, no matter how much I loathe the idea of playing a shooter with a gamepad.
That''s when lots of young people have both time on their hands and a bunch of extra Christmas money burning holes in their pockets.
