Enjoyed the video. It's going to make waiting to get this harder since I opted for X-Com. Speaking of which, care to elaborate on the X-Com comment at the end of the video? Just wondering if it was a jab at the multiplayer, which I don't care about, or the game in general.

Specifically the bare bones multiplayer, not the whole game. More on that (video!) tomorrow.

Thanks for the clarification. Definitely looking forward to the X-Com video.

Back on topic, this has allayed some of my concerns about Dishonored after playing it at PAX. I think it was just a really bad environment to demo a slower paced game like this. I had people breathing down my neck waiting to take over my station and I was struggling with the console controls. Good to know that once you really get into the game it still holds up.

Great video. I was going to skip this for X-Com but I'll have to grab it in the future.

What tools are you guys using to make the video? I have the same exact rig you do (2500k, 660Ti) and I'm curious about it. I'm assuming its Fraps and some sort of video editor.

Shawn is recording using Dxtory (similar to Fraps), and a whole crazy combination of things to forward audio and video throw Skype. I'm sure he can provide more info on that.

On the post-production side, I use Final Cut Pro X for editing. I mix the audio in Reaper, render it out and import into FCP, sync it with the video, and then proceed with the content editing. I also use Pixelmator (image editor) for the intro graphics.

Cool, thanks for the info. I was thinking of doing something for the forum co-op playthrough of X-Com.

Early dishonored videos seemed very gory, so I'm glad this video demonstrates that I don't have to play it that way. Great video.

I think you should set up a GWJ channel on YT. Shawn Andrich sounds like a personal account. Just consistency.

Watched the video this morning before heading to work!
I'm really enjoying this new GWJ initiative and we made it happen by contributing, whoohoo!

Very cool looking game and its comparison with Deus Ex HR (my favourite game of last year) made me even more interested. Unfortunately, I recently spent full price on Borderlands 2 and am also playing Torchlight 2, so I can't really afford this right now (the time nor the money), this is going on my steam wishlist. To be considered once it gets a 50% off in a few months.

From a technical standpoint what are some of the options for graphics/details you get on the PC? Curious to how much the developers optimized for the PC vs Consoles.

We've got one around here somewhere.

I was gearing up to be really excited about Dishonored, but their marketing misstep with footage from The Interrupters has rendered me unable to play.

FXAA or MLAA (or off). All resolutions far as I can tell. Rat Shadows, textures. All the basic Unreal Engine game stuff, really. Not bad, but not Crisis either.

Most importantly for me, an FOV slider. Only up to 85, but better than nothing.

I'm totally digging this format. I really liked that you picked a sidemission, that you'd already put a bunch of time in game, and that you had Elysium there asking questions. Different approach than a lot I've seen, and I'm excited to dig into some stuff.

Great start on the video format. I like the absence of spoilers and that it's more focused on how it plays and what features the game offers than a discussion of story line and characters. Since there are so many ports of between consoles / pc, I'd also like to see a discussion (or even in the video) the video options, maybe even turn off a few features so us with lower end computers can see what have to look forward to.

I noticed that; in the GiantBomb quick look, which was on 360, the FoV was nauseatingly narrow.

That's lower than what I like, so hopefully it can be further adjusted by editing an ini file when I get around to picking up Dishonored (probably Steam winter sale).

Oh, and great video. I watched it just before going to bed last night.

Guys, I planned on waiting on this game... I hate you all... I've been enabled.

Nice recap, based off of this, I added it to my wishlist

So many of the other game previews showed only snippets of the action, which made it hard to get a sense of the pacing of the game, so I appreciated this in depth video. Dishonored does appear to hit that sweet spot for me, right up there with Deus Ex, System Shock 2, BioShock, and of course Thief.

I also liked the attention to detail. One of the wall posters said something like "Hound Pits," which made me think of the opening scene in Thief 1 where the guard Barney and his buddies are talking about going to the bear pits. I badly want to see this style of game do well, so I'm picking it up right after work tomorrow.

Sorely tempted to watch this but I'm determined to remain completely oblivious to as much as possible until I get a chance to play it first hand (which would be as soon as I can get Steam to unlock it on Friday over here).

Still....so very tempting...

Excellent video I really like the format! I was on the fence about spending the money on this one, but your video sold me. I can't wait to dig into this one.

In case anybody has not ordered this yet and plans to, you can grab a steam copy for $45 at GMG with the 25% off code ( GMG25-EVFWS-4Z4ZN ).

This looks just fun, my question is can I run it? I'm beyond confused trying to figure out if my system can run it. I've got a GT530, 6GB of RAM, and a AMD Phenom II 3.0GHz. Any chance my meager beast can run this, or am I cosigned to console?

This was really cool. Thanks guys.

Great video. I'm not sure if this game fits my tastes, but I'm way more informed now either way.

I like the format of the experienced guy playing along with someone who's new to the game, asking and answering a lot of the questions I'm thinking about myself.

I fell asleep last night listening to the dulcet tones of Sean and Shawn waxing poetic about Dishonored. Keep up the good work!

You guys are doing a great job, Now I'm REALLY sold on Dishonored

Maybe these segments should be called "GWJ Enables." You've gotten me to jump off the fence.

Terrific video. This game is even more Thiefly than I was hoping, and I can't wait to play it.

("Rat Shadows" is my new Joy Division cover band.)

Excellent video. The city is superb. Good choice not to up the brightness. Giantbomb did that it their quick look and it kills the atmosphere.
