It is once again time to open the site up for donations! In case you haven't been around for one of these before, the GWJ donation drive is a one month event in which we ask the community to kick in and help support the site. It keeps us lean, mean and free of annoying ads! As Sean mentioned in his post last week, this year will be different as we're setting aside the raffle in favor of a more Kickstarter-esque system that give everyone some cool stuff and lays out some of our hopes and dreams for the coming year.
For all the info, hit the donation drive page. Together we can continue building this community in a strong, positive direction!

Hear hear! Or... +1 as the kids are sayin' these days.
Couldn't agree more. Wish I could donate more than I did this year. It's a fantasy of mine to guest on the podcast. Someday...!
Looking forward to the podcasts featuring the folks who donated!

I'm in! And I am glad this place exists. It has been a wonderful place for me to talk with like minded friends, to find folks to play games with that are not too annoying, and most recently it has given me a job, that lets me live in a castle and play board games no less.
So yeah, Thanks for being great.

I don't know why I can't figure out how to use PayPal via my credit card. I used to, but now it is trying to make me do so via a bank account. I can see my CC in my account...
Ahhh, figured it out.
If I try to do it with the pre-set donation amounts, it forces PayPal to try to go through my non-existant PayPal-linked bank account. However, if I choose to use the "Donate Any Amount" button, it works and allows me to use my credit card.

$200 chipped in, I couldn't resist the custom icon, and there were only 3 left, so I figured I'd get in while I can. Huzzah!

The PAX East party is $40K and the PAX West party is higher at $45K.
Certis: Quintin is both smart and attractive.
Fedaykin98: Good lord, I wouldn't have expected brilliance like that from that nemeslut Quintin Stone!
Yonder: It's weird to say this, but Quintin Stone may be the wisest person here.
I'm in. Keep up the great work, guys.

I'll hit this when we're back from vacation. (Tagging for posterity, as the Favorites thing didn't work for the donation page?)

Somehow missed the PAX East party. I know this isn't the first time you've realized I miss some pretty fundamental things.

Man, I've fantasized about being on the podcast more times than I would like to admit.
$350.00 is a bit steep for what the economy will allow me.
I think I'll send the 7 legged picture I sent in last year and see what happens.
Even if I had the $200 to donate to #GWJ, I have no idea what I would make my custom forum icon.
Done and done.
Love this site. Love this community. Love being able to help out.
Keep up the great work, Goodjers!

Pretty much, I can't think of anything that wouldn't violate copyrights or good taste.
Donated and email sent since I caught the part that said fill in your forum name just as the paypal page got done loading the new one that said I had donated.
Do you ever walk alone like a drifter in the dark?
Crowd source the idea. We let the fine folks around here pick our tags; why not our icons.

Money sent. Keep up the great work.
ClockworkHouse: He means the comic The Dark Knight Returns, where Batman and Superman get in a fistfight over Gotham. Not The Dark Knight Rises, where Batman and a loudly farting orchestra get in a fistfight over your attention.
Done. And I've got the custom icon already all picked out. No copyright violation. Good taste I can't speak to

Bam! I like the new donation format this year. Although I'll miss the Steam buying spree prize.

I know it's only been a day, but has anyone gotten their new donation icon yet? I made it a point to fire off the relevant email first thing and haven't gotten mine as such. Just curious.

They usually do it in batches, so it'll be a couple of days.

Tell me about it. I won a custom icon during the last donation drive and I've been mulling over my choice ever since. My first choice, a Segway, wasn't feasible and I've going back and forth on options ever since. So much commitment; this is why I don't have any tattoos.
Yesterday, I finally made a choice to beat the rush: my own variation of a wiener bomb.
Didn't see this. Will pay soon. In Lobsterbucks.
Left GWJ for good.
So if I donated $350 I could come on the podcast and discuss mechanical keyboards and mice with more buttons than I have fingers? So very tempting...
Donation made. Excited to have made my first donation just a few days past my one-year anniversary on the site.
Keep up the good work all—and thanks!
I'm guessing it's a raven, or castle.

Chipped in $50. Doubled my donation from last year!

And donated. Keep on being awesome!

And also done. I first found out about the site in February and have since listened to every GWJ Radio, the couple shows over at the escapist, and every singe Conference Call since then. I am so glad this site exists and that I can contribute to its continued awesomeness. (PS I'm a lurker so don't expect much from me.)
On it.
Words... are a big deal.

WePay is actually a pretty good alternative/addition to PayPal, and it's tailor-made for things like this. The fee for accepting credit cards is the same (2.9%+$0.30), but the one for bank-transfers is lower (1%+$0.30). Maybe just an addition to those who can't/won't use PayPal.
(I have no vested interest in us using it; it's just a suggestion/option.)
