As a few folks know (because I can't shut up about it), I am a couple of hours from receiving my Geek Chic table. I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED!

Anyway, some folks asked me to put up some pics once it's installed, and I thought it might be fun to have a catch-all thread for sharing gaming related furniture. Funiture? Geek Chic tables, custom tables, pinball cabinets, MAME cabinets, battlemech pods, etc.

Once the table arrives, I'll snap some pics and share my exxxtreme joy with you all here. And yes, that xxx was intentional, 'cause it's gonna get steamy in here folks.

Update:
Here is my post with pics and details

Lucky!! I've been talking to my wife about getting a Geek Chic table for a while now, and she keeps resisting.

I'm tagging the thread aspirationally. Grats, Court!

Notice how he didn't say post your furniture pictures?

I do hope space isn't an issue and that you got the one with the screen in it. That thing is crazy.

I've been very fortunate, but not fortunate enough to get the digital/touch screen super table. That sh*t is wack.

They're unpacking it now...

What about the live un boxing steam?

I WISH that's what my wife was resisting.

I'd never heard of this company or their products. And now that I see them, I am completely in awe. That stuff is unreal. I don't know when I'll have a house big enough to have one of those but I hope to some day. Insanely jealous.

I first heard of them several years ago when Gabe from Penny Arcade posted about acquiring one. The Emissary, I think.

I need to get a trip scheduled to their physical shop. She's resisting based on "It's just a Geek Table. No practical use." and I know that with the inserts on the top, it should be useable as a good dinner table, amongst the normal everyday table uses. Not too mention they're gorgeous tables in their own right.

Maybe more pictures will help convince her

I've been planning on posting pics (which I've done on twitter), but since we have guests over, I haven't had a chance to put them here yet... soon!

The Vizier, the Emissary, and the Portal all double as dining room tables. Some double as coffee tables. I think it's a minority that serve no "usual" furniture purpose, actually.

This thing would be a BEAUTIFUL dining room table. No doubt about it, I am lucky enough to have a house where I can have a whole gaming room just for the table, but if we hadn't had that space, I would have replaced our dining room table. It would happily function as a dining table. By replacing the leaves with a lid, it can also be a felt topped card table or a hardcore craft table (cutting surface, etc.).

QFT. What makes Geek Chic's stuff so awesome (beyond the hand-built bespokedness of it) is that it's genuinely attractive furniture in its own right—that just happens to double as awesome gaming gear.

Also QFT.

Nice! Years from now when I pick up one of these, I think I'll definitely get one of a similar size, but much lighter on the accessories. I don't really think I'll be using dice bins, drawers or cup holders etc - I've gotten so used to having all that stuff on the table that, if I have a big enough table (yours definitely looks big enough), people will be using that by default instead. I also don't really play RPGs, and tend to shy away from dice-heavy games anyways, so it just makes more sense for everything to be on the table and not off to the size. Will help keep the cost down too.

What's the size you got, anyways?

You lucky b*st*rd! SO, SO, jealous!!!!

Congrats!

beautiful table!

Most of the tables are measured by the interior vault size; mine is 4'x6'; exterior size 4'7"x6'8". I had my built to 36" tall, which for most people equates to kitchen counter height. You can buy additional legs for any height (std. dining room table, bar height, coffee table, etc.)

There is plenty of room for components throughout, though for 1 RPG we play (WFRP), my players like to have their own space for managing dice, cards, etc. I suspect for the majority of games, everything will be on the table.

I could ostensibly have 4 games on this table at once. 2 on the top, and 2 being held in the vault.

Wow, very nice Hedge. Incredibly jealous!

It's nice!

Looked at your google section for more picture.. it's "La Table"! Sorry, my french got hurt a little.. but, I'm so envious that went overboard.

Nice acquisition. Guess I'll never have the money for that kind of accessory.

I hate you. That thing is positively epic. One day...one day...

ACK! Rookie mistake. To be fair, my French class was in 1991, and I am FAR too lazy to look something like that up. I fixed it though, in honor of my brethren from the North.

The cupholders alone sell it to me.

Awesome Hedge, congrats! MonoCheli and I are visiting Geek Chic at GenCon this week. We're hoping to see some of their work up close and personal!

Linky to more pics no worky.

Nice! Beautifully made table!

So. Without further ado, here is the morning after album.

A few, choice pics include:

Here is the table in her leafed glory

Here is my daughter with the exposed vault, with a space themed map tucked under the acrylic layer. The layer can be written on with dry or wet erase markers.

And here is the lid, velvet side up, inserted into the table for card games. Showing off a new game I picked up for HedgeCon. The other side of the lid is a nigh indestructible craft board for cutting, painting, etc.

I have two of the insert dice/chit bins, and 6 cup/bottle/glass holders. I think I'll order a few more of the dice/chit bins in the coming weeks/months as they seem incredibly useful.

DAMN DIRTY LIES!

Spoiler:

Fixed! This is a result of my going with the grammatically correct 'La' as opposed to 'Le'

The finish on that thing is really nice. After seeing those, I think I could make a serious case to my fiance that we should aim at getting one for our eventual dining room table. Don't even need the fancy drawers, but would totally want the felt top and the cup holders.
