So, in four years...

... who do you think could run for the Republicans? McCain? Jeb Bush? (Or do you think that Georgie getting four more years lowered the chances for Jeb to follow directly?) Any other potential candidates your average European may not heard of before. Like, I don't guess too many people over here knew John Kerry before he became the official Dem. candidate.

I don''t think it will be McCain or Jeb. It will be someone who maybe only 50% of people have heard of, but I don''t have any names off the top of my head.
I think it would be hilarious if Cheney runs. Has a two term vice-president ever NOT run when their time came?
Please not Jeb Bush. He has KILLED education in this state.
The only reason he is still Gov is because the other guy said he would have to raise taxes to give voters what they wanted.
Talk about the kiss of death...

What about a Mcain/Guiliani ticket vs. a Edwards/Dean ticket?
Clinton v. Rice!

Guiliani/Powell or Guiliani/Rice would be my bet. Bill Frist will make a run of it as well. I wouldn''t rule out McCain running, even though he''ll be 72 in 2008.

If the republicans get to amend the Constitution so that Schwarzenegger can run, then we get to change the Constitution so Bill Clinton can run again.
Edit:
JohnnyMo- isn''t Rudy to left wing to be a nationwide Republican candidate? His stuff sells in NY, but it ain''t gonna fly in Mississippi, in my estimation.

Rudy is a hero of the party. He is for civil unions, Bush is for civil unions. He is pro-abortion, he would have to come out against late term abortion (I''m not sure he is for it) to sell.
My bet will be Guiliani or McCain and Rice as the VP.
Powell doesn''t want to be President. He could have had the nomination in 1996 and didn''t want it.
It will be interesting seeing the people in the party calling them selves ""Bush Republicans""

John McCain, if I have to go down to Arizona and talk him into it myself. This country needs him I wish so badly that he had won the nomination instead of W!

I would cross party lines for John McCain.
I''d vote for McCain as well.

So it''s decided. Swamp, head on out!
I think a lot of people who think they like John McCain don''t know him that well.i What you like is McCain over Bush. Once people find out more about him and he is running, I think a lot of this love will go away.

OK, all I''ll need to do is make a sandwich, and I''m gone. Wait, I need a traveling buddy! And a harmonica.
Maybe we should do a gamer''s march. But we''d get sidetracked at the first game store or comic shop. Not to mention giving up when the batteries in our DS''s and PSPs died.

It always does, there are always warts. What W''s people did to him in the primaries 4 years ago was nothing more than carnival chicanery. And to the discredit of most republicans, it worked.
My point is that warts and all, he''ll be more attractive than anyone I can think of R or D, at this early point.

Regardless of his hidden baggage, I would vote for McCain again. I voted for him in the last Primary and would do so again. His stance on campaign contribution reform is very much in need.

It matters how this admin handles itself the next 4 years.. right now I would think Rudy or Rice but my gutt points to Delay.
And I actually feel bad now for GW, he has to make ALOT of people happy and handle the next 4 years with tender loving care.

W''s people didn''t do it. I assume you''re talking about that nutty vet who said McCain sold out other POWs? That same guy attacked Bush''s father.

The worst would be Cheney vs Gore.
So, will there be an attempt to impeach W this term?

I would also vote for McCain, provided he wsn''t on a respirator.

To be perfectly honest, i''d be so thrilled if we elected someone who wasn''t like the other 41 guys. A woman, a minority, just a change of pace from 200 years of dudes who look the same.
EDIT: But i''d vote McCain so hard.

To be more specific, Powell is going to step down because he wholeheartedly disagrees with the Administration''s foreign policy.

Not enough numbers for it. Numbers trump the merits in Congress every time.

No, more like the slash and burn win at any cost behavior towards him, particullarly in the Southern primaries. Rumors about ""anger problems"" as a result of being a POW, that type of shady behavior.

I think Powell will stay and Rummy will go. The conventional wisdom has never been right.

Bush hinted at ""large changes in the cabinet"" yesterday. Let''s see.

Guess i should tiptoe this subject being in the military...but I don''t see Rumsfield going being in the middle of a war...
I see Powell stepping down because of that disagreement and him being marginalized in this administration...and that would be the single greatest loss for the cabinet...because he is compassionate and brilliant in a cabinet that is heavy with brilliant...but low on compassionate...
