Lost Planet 3 Catch-All

Back to the tundra.

I actually like this potential protagonist, assuming he's the protagonist in the end. Looks like he's got some flub, but I also like that he has some personality instead of being all Jarhead.

My best guess is the second didn't sell as well as the first, so they're going to try a compromise of the first two games.

WHY DOES THIS EXIST

I liked the demo for Lost Planet 2 well enough, but none of my friends got it and I'd rather have played it co-op. I never got to finish the first one, though.

I like gameplay of the first two. I own the first one, but the second was too silly to buy. Competitive multiplayer isn't very good on these games because there are ways to abuse the gameplay mechanics to essentially make yourself invincible. Co-op is pretty fun though.

One of the main things I took from Lost Planet 2 was how awesome a Monster Hunter game could look with the same engine.

Gerstmann was pretty positive on the Bombcast regarding what he saw of the game at Captivate. I liked the demo for LP2 but never bought it and couldn't get into the first game at all.

I enjoyed the demo for the second one well enough, but there was never enough people interested in buying it to co-op with. So I never managed to get it.

I've discovered a bizarre new species of skimming.

I would be so down for that.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this. I was incredibly close to liking Lost Planet 2, but there was something... stale about it. Maybe the personality of the game didn't jive with me. But I enjoyed the trailer and I think the dude in the trailer would be a much more interesting main character. Did the protagonist of Lost Planet 2 even have a personality? I can't remember...

I know Capcom has been trying for a long time to westernize itself with shooters. Here's hoping this is the one that does it.

Yeah, that was how I heard about it in the first place. I never played the other two, but so far I really dig what I'm seeing/hearing. The everyman thing (as opposed to the beefcake space marine thing) is always welcome. That's a big part of why I liked Red Faction: Guerrilla.

Shut up I'm allowed. It's my own thread God dammit.

It's like a split personality that doesn't read it's other half's own thread. You should talk to...him about that.

I was one of the few people who actually liked Lost Planet 2, so I'm keeping an eye on this.

That's probably the best response possible.

I just listened to this and was super, super surprised at how relatively positive he was. Cause Lost Planet 2 was... man. I played that game once for about an hour and fifteen minutes. I traded it in the very next day. Probably the quickest turnaround for a game I paid full price for in as long as I can remember.

New trailer out today.

I really want to like this game, but what I played at PAX East and have seen so far doesn't fill me with a desire to drop $60 on it. I'm going to have to wait for the inevitable $10-$20 version come Black Friday.

I really dug the format of Lost Planet 2. It was the gameplay that fell short. Changing the only part I liked isn't going to bring me back.

Only the hook can do that.

I played LP 2 on PC co-op with friends and it was a lot of fun. I don't know about a third one though.

Anyone buying this or are we all waiting for it to be heavily discounted?

I really want to like this game but things aren't looking good review wise. Game Trailers didn't hate it.

I wanted to like it at PAX East, but there's just not enough there to spend $60 on. I feel like they've got potentially good writing and such going on, but all the shooting I had access to wasn't really fun. The Mech part was pretty cool, but might get tiresome over time. It's a 50/50.

I'll wait for the inevitable Black Friday discount.

EDIT: I just realized I did the "bizarre skimming" thing yet again. I keep forgetting I've been in this thread before saying these things.

I like the Lost Planet series, but they do have some game balance issues when concerning their multiplayer that really hurt the appeal of the game. I have only bought the first game, and the 2nd game is super silly. I'm hoping that the 3rd will be pretty good.

Anyone else play the game yet?

I've only done the first mission of the game, I'm not liking it too much.

I wanted the old aiming style to stay, and I also hate the hub world structure that they've added. If I continue to play I will likely just try to blow through the game as fast as possible.

That's a bit disappointing, though I can't say I'm surprised. The one thing I enjoyed of the demo was the Mech combat, but everything else just didn't really feel satisfying in any way. Hopefully it's just a boring first level.

It's like you're posting the future from the past of the future.

Yeah, I realized that after I made the post, but this time just decided "f*ck it".

Three year thread necro.

Anyway, this is in one of the humble bundles in the $1 category, so even if it had really sucked I'm pretty sure I got my money's worth. I just finished up the campaign on easy (getting old, can't do the twitchy gameplay anymore). The story was enough to put up with the waves of critters popping up. I feel the story was decent enough, and was driven well by very good voice acting IMO. The enemy AI is a bit stupid, and easily predictable, but I'm not sure if that's a side-effect of running in easy mode.

The bundle is still up for another 15 hours at this point if any of you guys forgot about it and still wanted to give it a shot.
