Upcoming Indie Games to Keep an Eye On

TotalBiscuit did a WTF Is for it.

Anybody tried Candy Box? It starts off slow but just leave it open in your browser a while (and try not to eat all the candy) and it turns into a fun little ascii game.

But eating all the candy is how you increase your HP!

I threw all my candy on the ground!

Does anyone remember that teaser trailer that came out maybe a year ago about a post-apocalyptic world where this robot activates after being dormant for many years? It was all in super-duper pretty 3D graphics. It might have been set in New York City or something but all the building were decaying and everything was becoming like a jungle.

I can't remember what it was called.

Reset I believe.

That's it! Thanks.

Edit: Looks like they're still working on it, so hurray!

RPS just did a hands-on preview of Rogue Legacy. It sounds like a medieval take on Spelunky (ie. 2D side scrolling with procedural generated levels). There appears to be a class system with some sort of inheritance thing going where future generations of your character get stuff from the character who just died in addition to having some randomly selected attributes added in.

Whelp.

I want it. I also hear Spelunky is great, isn't it coming to the PC?

True, but if you do that every time you can't buy lollipops.
Need more candy...

It never left! Oh you mean the HD version? Presumably when the 360 exclusivity expires. Or when the PS3 exclusivity expires since that's the next system getting it.

Anyways, this is officially the year of procedural generation. Calling it now.

I have absolutely zero problem with this.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about.

I also have no problem with this.

I don't need to buy lollipops. My lollipop farm is already at max production.

I just can't get the sorceress to take them anymore.

At the beginning you do though so you can plant your farm.
My farm is maxed now as well but initially don't eat them all.

Hmm, surprised I didn't post about Rogue Legacy earlier.

Kingsport Cases now has an alpha demo available. They do fall over themselves wanting you to know it's just an alpha!

i can't believe this is still up. Funeral Quest. The mmo where you run a funeral home. I played this years ago. It's actually quite fun.

Really fun-looking 2player/1-iPad game, Slamjet Stadium. A deadly future-sports game that's like a real-time sport version of Squids, or marbles, or the pin slammer game from TWEWY.

Looks amazing.

And it's already out!

Hey Folks! I have an update on the game I have been working on for the last year and a half, Full Bore. Its a puzzle adventure game with an open world made up of blocks with different behaviors, that the player can dig, push or use to find secrets and treasure.

We just put up our Steam Greenlight page: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=145273589
It features a new trailer and screenshots that show off all the improvements we've been making in the months since our Kickstarter was overfunded. We are closing in on finishing the game in the next few months and are trying to get the word out about it. We would love to hear any feedback you want to throw our way.

New video for Door Kickers.

Anybody heard any more about Frontiers? RPS did a little blurb about it, but I haven't seen it mentioned here before.

I'll have a little time to research it tomorrow hopefully, see what I can find.

As a fan of runners, I was very happy when I saw this.

New trailers for two exciting games.

Those all look pretty awesome!

Continuing the year of procedural generation: Crypt of the NecroDancer.

I'm fiiiiine with that.

Oh my! And then important details from their website that weren't conveyed in the video:

Hardcore roguelike rhythm game. Play with your own MP3s.

Dance with DDR pad, keyboard, or game pad.

All these modern motion control games have started getting away from the most important aspects of video games: making yourself look like a complete idiot to anyone fortunate enough to be nearby. Finally a developer has their priorities back in order!

Ha! That looks great

That badger game looks amazing. I can only imagine how much it will tug at your heartstrings when one if your cubs get eaten by an eagle.
