NFL 2011 Week 12

Pages

Short week, short post:

Jets 13 - Tebows 17: Yeah, trying getting Tim benched at this point.

Jaguars 10 - Browns 14: Well, Cleveland may have shut this guy up for another week:

Panthers 35 - Lions 49: Detroit may have left the field with a W, but it sure wasn't a pretty one.

Buccaneers 26 - Packers 35: I think it's time we said goodbye to Tampa Bay's chances this year.

Bills 8 - Dolphins 35: Ditto to Buffalo's chances.

Raaaaaaaaaaaaiders 27 - Vikings 21: Messy game, including the injuries to Peterson and Heyward-Bey

Cowboys 27 - Redskins 24: Okay, that was a bit closer than I thought it was going to be.

Bengals 24 - Ravens 31: Ditto on this one.

Spoilhawks 24 - Rams 7: Not really a lot for Seattle to spoil here save for St. Louis' good mood.

Cardinals 7 - 49ers 23: San Francisco just has this weird way of bringing out the worst in their opponents. It's like they hired the Voodoo Lady from the Monkey Island series to cast hexes and curses.

Titans 17 - Falcons 23: Remember how last week I said Houston fans should be worried about Tennessee overtaking them? They should dial that worry back a tish.

Chargers 20 - Bears 31: Seems like very time I want to comment on a team's playoff chances, their quarterback gets sidelined for the year.

Eagles 17 - Giants 10: You know what I'd love to see? A picture of Vince Young Tebowing...with a bottle of tequila in one hand.

Chiefs 3 - Patriots 34: You know what? I think Rob Gronkowski has earned the right to pose with as many porn stars as he wants.

Week 12 Pick 'Em: Well, I stunk up the joint, but on the flip side we have MilkmanDanimal, Enix, and boogle sipping mai tais on Perfection Island. Here's the score:

Not a lot of movement up and down the ranks this week, but that could easily change with this Thanksgiving-heavy crop of picks:

Packers at Lions: Earlier this season this looked like it could have been one of the best Turkey Day match-ups in history and end calls for Detroit losing the right to host it every year. Then...the wheels started coming off a bit and Green Bay started projecting an aura of invincibility. It'll be interesting, but I don't see this being the game that spoils Green Bay's shot at perfection. Packers.

49ers at Ravens: Now this is the game to watch and hopefully if you're stuck at someone's house who doesn't have NFL Network you're at least in the home market for the teams playing in the Harbaugh Bowl. Baltimore may be one of the top teams in the AFC, but they've been inconsistent, dropping games after big wins. On the other hand San Francisco travels well to the East Coast and like I said above they bring out the worst in their opponents. Niners.

Bears at Raaaaaaaaaaiders: As if you had to ask. No Jay Cutler? True, Matt Forte is one of the best running backs in the league, but Adrian Peterson used to be in that conversation not too long ago and look at what happened to him. Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiders!

Giants at Saints: Can Eli Manning get his team back on track? Answer, no. Saints.

For my wild card, I'm taking the Patriots over the Eagles.

Enjoy the week and happy Thanksgiving, folks.

Getting my picks in before I forget in a busy week.
Packers
Ravens
Raaaaaaaaaiders
Saints

Wild Card: Steelers over the Chiefs

Picks coming later, but damn this mai-tai tastes good gents.

This is hilarious. I don't think i've ever seen an organization actively hate its starting QB as much as the Broncos hate Tebow.

Man, that off week sucked, although it came at the perfect time. Let's rock, Texans!

Put this in the wrong thread before, trying again...

Who needs another QB when you have a guy you don't believe in who uses his head as a wrecking ball!

Orton goes on waivers at 4 pm ET. Should be interesting. PFT has a list of the waiver order. How crazy would it be for Orton to get claimed by the Skins and then be on the same team as Grossman again? The horror!

I'm guessing he ends up on the Chiefs. I'm also guessing it won't matter either way.

Packers at Lions

49ers at Ravens

Bears at Raaaaaaaaaaiders

Giants at Saints

Wild card: Panthers at Colts. I'm picking the Panthers reluctantly because (a) Carolina keeps finding new ways to lose, and (b) the Colts are a wounded animal. Yeah, I can see Indy at 1-10 after this week.

Buccaneers 26 - Packers 35: I think it's time we said goodbye to Tampa Bay's chances this year.

As a hardcore Bucs fan, I'd like to believe nobody who really is into football game Tampa much of a chance this year; they're young, the short offseason meant the inexperienced players couldn't get practice time, and the schedule has been beyond brutal. Not that I'm a fan of power rankings as a rule, but, just for argument's sake, here's a link to [url=http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings...'s Power Rankings[/url for this week. Tampa has played #1, #2, #3 (twice), #7, #8, #10, and #11; of the ten games they have played, four were against the top four teams, eight of the ten against the top 11 (2-6 against that list). It has been UGLY, but I'm going the optimist route and saying that being tested and beaten around is a good thing for a young team; they need to learn to take a punch or two. Or twenty. Seriously, Talib, Haynesworth? It's just a metaphor, don't punch back. Anyways . . .

Packers at Lions: I do expect the Packers to lose a game or two this year, as they haven't been "2007 Patriots dominant" and have played close games. Just don't think Detroit's the team to do it.

49ers at Ravens: In a wildly erratic year, I'll take the home team, just because I actually have no idea.

Bears at Raiders: It's pretty common for new QBs to play really well until teams get some film on them and figure out their tendencies; I think Forte has a big game to help Hanie and Carson Palmer now has to face a smart, fast defense that will pick him off several times.

Giants at Saints: Yeah, they're just better. Eli has always been an interception machine, and the Saints like to do crazy stuff on defense. Bad matchup for Eli.

Wilcard: Bucs at Titans: I will continue to pick Bucs games. I think this is a winnable game, and I'm feeling optimistic. If Locker is starting, I'm feeling much more than optimistic. He had a couple really nice throws last weekend, and a couple "oh yeah, that's why his completion % was under 50% in college" throws. Of course, this means it's the week they pull a Tebow and throw six times the entire game and CJ finally breaks out.

Packers
Ravens
Raaaaaaaaaiiiders
Saints
Wildcard: Houston over Jax

Packers at Lions: Packers. Pick em till they lose. Really looking forward to this game tomorrow morning.

49ers at Ravens: Ravens ........ at home, on a short week, 49ers coming east. I'm probably going to regret this choice.

Bears at Raiders: Raiders. With Cutler this would've been much more difficult.

Giants at Saints: Saints at home after the bye week.

Wildcard (stealing Dan's game choice) - Bucs at Titans: Bucs. Best matchup they've had in a long time.

Packers at Lions: Yeah the Packers pass defense isn't very good but Aaron Rodgers is the MVP. I also predict half of Ford Field will be Packer fans. I really like the Lions but Stafford isn't a great QB.

49ers at Ravens: I really wish I could watch this game but the parents don't have NFL Network.

Bears at Raiders: The Raiders are way over achieving and that needs to stop, I don't believe in Hue Jackson at all.

Giants at Saints: Saints are hard to beat at home, plus I think the Giants can still lose a few more games before they have to win 4 straight to secure their playoff spot.

Wildcard: Redskins at Seahawks: I really hate T-Jack. He's an awful QB on a team with a solid WR corp, solid RB corp and a top 10 defense.

Attaboy! I wish I had your confidence, with Leinart taking over. I think we'll be okay.

Packers at Lions: Lions keep it close but the Pack prevail in the end.

49ers at Ravens: Ravens in a close one.

Bears at Raaaaaaaaaaiders: Bears can't catch a break, when they finally get something going, their QB breaks his finger.

Giants at Saints: Eli makes douche face, film at 11!

Wildcard - Vikes at Falcons: The Birds are looking to January; the Vikes are too, but only for tee times.

Thanks garion!

Are you suggesting he's merely good ... or that he's bad? I can't imagine you're saying he's bad.

I'm saying that Stafford will never be a Top 10 QB. Because: Durability, Turnovers, Heave it to Johnson.

Jaguars lead the league with a 16-man injured reserve.

A few more and they'll have a full offense & defense!

Orton is apparently saying he won't report.

The whole point of asking for his release was to go to Chicago, and Chicago wanted him.

I am seriously bummed that there is no football of any kind on TV today.

They naturally want to spend another 3M to maybe still come 4th in their division? Hopefully someone in the NFC wrote them an IOU to do it cause its an awful move.
