The bit about tires is impressive since Turn10 has always done a better job of that than everybody else anyway.

You know stuff. - MannishBoy
If they can incorporate good head tracking I'll buy another Kinect for my upstairs 360 that doesn't have room to merit one otherwise.

Head tracking in Forza might be the thing that pushes me over the edge on purchasing a Kinect. Or head tracking in a shooter.

I am interested in head tracking for racing-- Forza 4 might be another reason I get a Kinect. Playing F1 2010 on PC, I wish it could be that easy. I'm very tempted to get a second 28" monitor and line the two up side-by-side, but I think that might be a bit extreme.
Steam: WipEout XBox Live: w1p30u7
The problem with two is the split is right in the middle. Three with a hefty Nvidia setup is ideal. And it is that easy on PC, just pick up a TrackIR.
Yep. Tire modeling is everything. If they can nail this, I will be very happy.

You can play Forza with 4 monitors. Buy 4 Xboxes, get three TVs and a small monitor for your rear view, then 4 copies of Forza 3...
(Damn it, that got me thinking. I have 2 Xboxes, 2 25.5" monitors, an MS wheel, and a copy of Forza 3. I'm 1 Xbox, 1 monitor, and a couple of Forza's away from having that as a secondary set up for my desk.)

More promo stuff emerging. Looks like a few attempts to use some of Shift's "Hollywood" effects. I hate that they lead the first half of the video with stupid uses for Kinect before they get to the only reason to use it: head-tracking. Hopefully MS decides on a real wheel this time to accompany the launch. Reliance on Fanatec to provide the only real 360 wheel solution is getting problematic.
Edit: MS is having the video pulled.

Problematic is an understatement. I don't even own a 360 wheel because I can't justify the expense of a Fanatec and I refuse to waste money on some MadKatz piece of crap. I know I'd be getting a lot more good out of Forza 3 and PGR4 with a wheel.

Forza 4 Kinect sneak peek in this vid. (Head tracking).
Need to stabilize those pedals, Major.

No kidding. You think they could consult me to actually put together a decent demo station?

Thing is, Turn 10 has some sweet setups. I've seen them in videos.

Nice. I actually popped Forza 3 back in about two weeks ago, because I was looking for a racing fix. Very much looking forward to having the Top Gear Test Track in the game.

Stupid idea. I'll stick with a wheel, thanks.
There is a rumour floating that Fanatec will be announcing something as a Forza partnership this week though.

That looks like the silly Wii wheels you insert the Wiimote in. I don't see what you gain, it's not likely to be more precise than a thumbstick and way more cumbersome.

It's more than similar, it's the Wii wheel with a spot for the Wiimote with the Wiimote actually built into it. Utter. Crap.
Seriously guys, get us a real freaking wheel *with pedals* or we're essentially using the controller still.

I now have reason to buy a Kinect.
Sold. Looks like head tracking is even adjustable like wheel settings.

You forgot something!
That's the kind of Kinect usage that I can get behind.

No, I did what I often do and closed the youtube tag with a quote tag.
And less interesting to me:

I'm way excited about the head tracking.
Wheel info. I'll be getting the Elite;-)
XBL: Mister Static
Tribes Ascend: MisterStaticGWJ
That's confusing. What do the CSR wheels look like? Is that the pictured wheel, or is that the Mad Catz the price of $230 is mentioned for?
EDIT: Never mind, the facebook page is clearer.
I'd be tempted to upgrade to something reasonable if I could get some money out of my existing MS wheel. Not sure I'll play enough to make it worth it (especially if I also spend money on a Kinect primarily for this game).
Andy aka:
Xbox: TheMannishBoy PSN: Skinchanger Steam: MannishBoy
Right, the Elite is the one pictured in the link I posted.
I am willing to spend a lot on wheels, mainly because I tend to play driving games more than anything else. So take this with a grain of salt...
I will tell you that a good wheel and pedals make all the difference. The 360 wheel is OK, but not what I am referring to as a good wheel. I think you would be happy with your investment in something like this Elite or the normal CSR they are showing. If you are already spending money on a Kinect for the extra immersion, you probably ought to pony up for a good wheel. The immersion difference between a good wheel/pedals and an OK set is easily as significant ( I would actually say vastly more so) as the difference between head-tracking versus not.

I have no misconceptions about the quality of the MS wheel. I always assumed it was a mid-range wheel at best.
I just don't want to spend a ton of money near the end of a console cycle not knowing it will move forward.
I suppose if it's PC compatible that might offset that concern a bit, but the MS wheel not having force feedback on PC is really annoying.
Driving games are probably 20% of my gaming time these days.
Andy aka:
Xbox: TheMannishBoy PSN: Skinchanger Steam: MannishBoy
According to this, the Fanatec wheels are cross compatible with PC, PS3, and 360.
Andy aka:
Xbox: TheMannishBoy PSN: Skinchanger Steam: MannishBoy
Okay, cross compatibility with PC might sell me one of the Fanatec ones even though I've already got the MS wheel. I still need to see pricing though. I suspect the elite one will be $$$$$$.
This is what the CEO, Thomas said on his blog:
So my guess is that the CSR wheel will be 179-199 and the Elite wheel by itself will be more in the 450 range.
